Wiping out the bugs was the dream of the Night Elves, especially the Druids.
The Druids disliked artillery, with its overwhelming air of destruction.
But if artillery could destroy the bugs, they supported it wholeheartedly.
Looking at the artillery list Herad had provided, Fandral Staghelm asked about the parts he did not understand.
"Sir, what does this 155 mm mean?"
"It indicates the diameter of the shells used."
"So the bigger the number, the thicker and larger the shell?"
"Exactly."
The Druids understood the principle that a bigger blade killed more people.
Presumably, the bigger the shell, the bigger the bugs it could kill.
Fandral Staghelm scanned the trade list, then pointed to the largest model on it and asked Malfurion for his opinion.
"Teacher, what do you think of this 380 mm artillery piece?"
After looking it over, Malfurion nodded with absolute confidence.
"Yes, that will do. It should be at least a little more than twice as powerful."
His Druid students all nodded in agreement.
"You're absolutely right, teacher! Judging by the numbers, it must be much more powerful than the 155 mm."
The other Night Elves' expressions shifted slightly when they heard this exchange, but in the end, they did not let it show.
They probably already knew how bad the Druids were at mathematics.
Herad, however, did not indulge the Druids' mathematical ineptitude.
"Everyone, that isn't how explosive power is calculated."
As he spoke, he brought up theoretical data on shell calibers and explosive power.
"Even a slight increase in an artillery piece's caliber will multiply the explosive power of its shells!
"This 380 mm artillery piece was originally intended for battleships. Its shells have enough explosive power to destroy this hall!"
The fortress hall was a living-wood structure, no less sturdy than a stone building.
