Ch. 242The Holy Light Version of the Gatling Heavy Machine Gun

Herad showed Natalie a Holy Light-enhanced submachine gun to compensate for Xal'atath, then unveiled a Gatling Heavy Machine Gun for the envious paladins. After demonstrating its firing power, he left Uther and the other paladins to evaluate the weapon.

  • Herad presented Natalie with a golden lightforging iron submachine gun inlaid with Naaru Shards, whose runes strengthened its wielder's Holy Light connection and raised a Holy Light Shield in danger.
  • Natalie accepted the weapon as compensation for handing over Xal'atath, Blade of the Black Empire, and was satisfied with it.
  • The paladins envied the priests' new weapons and hoped Herad would make a gun suited to their size and strength.
  • Herad brought out a Gatling Heavy Machine Gun and asked Uther to evaluate it.
  • Herad explained the gun's two safeties and firing-rate controls, then fired a low-intensity burst that riddled a granite wall with holes.

Ch. 243First blood for the Holy Light version of the Gatling Heavy Machine Gun

Herad brought Uther and five other Paladins through a Temporary Portal to Mardum to test the Holy Light version of the Gatling Heavy Machine Gun against demons. Uther’s gunfire devastated a force of nearly four thousand, and the remaining Paladins charged the survivors.

  • Herad and Archbishop Faol decided to build a shooting range outside the city after the gun shattered Stratholme’s granite wall.
  • Baron Rivendare admired the Gatling Heavy Machine Gun and eagerly loaded its ammunition belts alongside the other Paladins.
  • Herad gave the Paladins gas masks, opened a Temporary Portal to Mardum, and led Uther and five others through it.
  • Herad directed Uther to fire at several thousand demons on a hill, and the Gatling Heavy Machine Gun tore through the Felhounds and Felguards.
  • Uther emptied two ammunition boxes, reducing the demons from nearly four thousand to fewer than three hundred, before charging with his warhammer as the other Paladins followed.

Ch. 244Gatlings hit even harder against air targets!

Uther and the Paladins fought off waves of demons on Mardum, using heavy hammers, Gatling guns, and Holy Light. When Felguards threatened the Paladins, Herad redirected the gunfire toward the ground and used Arcane Missiles to clear the Fel Bats from the sky.

  • Uther smashed demons with his enormous hammer while the other Paladins prepared their Gatling Heavy Machine Guns.
  • Herad set up an antiaircraft Sight, and the Paladins shot down the incoming Fel Bats.
  • Felhounds charged the Paladins, but their armor and Holy Light burned and killed most of them.
  • Felguards pressed the attack, and Herad told the gunner to target the ground while he cast Arcane Missiles at the Fel Bats.
  • Herad's Arcane Missiles rapidly swept through the remaining Fel Bats.

Ch. 245Modifying the Fel Death Star Cannon

Herad and the Paladins tested Gatling Heavy Machine Guns against Mardum’s demon army, then Herad used Ulthalesh to slaughter demons while the Fel Hammer was dismantled for parts. He began modifying the warship’s main energy cannon into a powerful Fel Death Star Cannon to destroy Burning Legion ships.

  • Herad and the Paladins fought off demons, but the Paladins ran out of ammunition and retreated after approving the Gatling Heavy Machine Guns.
  • Herad summoned Ulthalesh and used it to kill demons and Eredar demon Mages across Mardum.
  • Herad focused on repurposing the Fel Hammer rather than purifying Mardum’s Fel-corrupted land.
  • X'era cut apart the Fel Hammer’s hull with Holy Light Rays while preserving its main energy cannon.
  • Herad examined the cannon’s diamond-shaped Fel Crystal and planned to convert it into a Fel version of the Shanghai Cannon.

Ch. 246The Fel Death Star Cannon's First Blood

Herad completed the Fel Death Star Cannon’s initial modifications and left it guarding Mardum. Three days later, the cannon detected and destroyed a Burning Legion warship that approached under cover of night.

  • Herad had Large Arcane Golems modify the Fel Death Star Cannon, adding a felsteel barrel, turret, and chassis while the work stalled for lack of energy.
  • X'era warned Herad that nearby fel planets could send Burning Legion warships to investigate Mardum, so he configured the cannon to scan for and attack threats.
  • Herad finished the cannon’s adjustments and left the shattered world while the automated defense remained on watch.
  • On the third day, the cannon detected a Burning Legion warship clearing a path through the asteroid belt and fired a green beam into its unshielded hull.
  • The beam caused catastrophic damage, and most of the demons aboard were sucked into space or died from suffocation.

Ch. 247The Burning Legion's warships specialized in courting death

Herad seized and dismantled a Burning Legion starship, then visited Quel'Thalas to inspect the Withered mages constructing the Arcane Furnace. The furnace remained unfinished, and Herad rewarded the diligent workers with a clefthoof feast.

  • Herad boarded the disabled Burning Legion starship with X'era and Ulthalesh; X'era dismantled its hull while Ulthalesh killed the surviving demons.
  • Herad used the demon commander's console to send a false report that the situation was normal, then removed the console and collected the ship's materials and Diamond-Shaped Fel Crystals.
  • Herad and X'era finished dismantling the starship and teleporting its materials to the ground in half a day.
  • Herad traveled to the island Armory in Quel'Thalas and inspected the Withered mages building the purple hemispherical Arcane Furnace.
  • Herad praised the Withered mages and promised them a clefthoof feast, spurring their enthusiasm.

Ch. 248The troublesome Burning Legion

Herad’s Rangers hunted Clefthoof in Nagrand and killed a Wrathguard with a sniper rifle, drawing attention to the Burning Legion’s renewed activity at Highmaul. Herad discovered the Legion had repaired its portal and sent Ulthalesh to destroy it, but knew the Legion’s incursions would continue.

  • Herad inspected the nearly finished Arcane Furnace, then brought elite Rangers to Nagrand to hunt Clefthoof for sale and livestream their hunt.
  • A Ranger ambushed a Wrathguard and killed it with repeated shots from a Large-Caliber Sniper Rifle as it charged across the grasslands.
  • Herad examined the dead demon and used a spatial detection spell to investigate the ruined Highmaul forward base.
  • Herad discovered that Eredar demon Mages had repaired the Burning Legion Portal inside the base.
  • Herad teleported Ulthalesh from Mardum, and Ulthalesh killed the guards and sliced apart the portal and its frame.

Ch. 249Hunting Down Mannoroth

Herad sent Ulthalesh to destroy the Burning Legion’s scattered bases on Draenor, then identified Mannoroth as the commander behind the demons’ guerrilla strategy. Ulthalesh followed Mannoroth’s trail into Gorgrond and continued cutting down any demons that tried to stop it.

  • Herad assigned Ulthalesh to patrol Draenor and destroy Burning Legion bases, where it slaughtered demons with its anima-infused blade.
  • Herad showed Alleria Ulthalesh’s latest attack through a shared-vision device and explained that the demons had scattered into small groups to wage guerrilla warfare.
  • Herad added Mannoroth to Ulthalesh’s priority targets and entered the Pit Lord’s identifying features into the Arcane Golem’s database.
  • After the Broken reported seeing Mannoroth heading toward Gorgrond, Ulthalesh followed his scorched footprints and the trees he had felled.
  • Demons along Mannoroth’s trail tried to block Ulthalesh, but it killed them and suppressed their souls.

Ch. 250Mannoroth's Rampage of Destruction

Mannoroth rampaged through the Everbloom, burning its forests and defeating the Botani who tried to stop him. After his fel fire killed his corrupted Felguards, a Genesaur arrived and charged at him.

  • Mannoroth cut down trees and set the Everbloom ablaze as Botani Hunters attacked him and his Felguards.
  • Botani Spellcasters used Mysterious Powder to transform the Felguards into plant-like creatures, and Mannoroth killed them with fel fire.
  • Mannoroth surged deeper into the forest, crushing trees in his rage.
  • A Genesaur arrived to defend the Everbloom and charged at Mannoroth with its spear.

Ch. 251A one-on-one fight was out of the question

Mannoroth fought the Genesaur while Ulthalesh attacked him from behind, and the combined assault wounded him despite his overwhelming strength. Herad told Alleria that the forest’s nature-bound defenders could call reinforcements, leaving Mannoroth doomed if more Genesaurs arrived.

  • Mannoroth’s felsteel spear failed to cut through the Genesaur’s nature-infused wooden spear as they clashed.
  • Ulthalesh stabbed Mannoroth from behind, and the Genesaur used the opening to pierce his chest and shield.
  • Mannoroth seized the Genesaur’s spear and furiously hacked at it while Ulthalesh attacked his hind leg.
  • Alleria doubted that they could defeat Mannoroth, but Herad assured her that he would die that day.
  • Herad explained that the forest replenished the Genesaur’s nature energy and could summon more Genesaurs to overwhelm Mannoroth.

Ch. 252Mannoroth at the end of his rope, with his enemies livestreaming it

Mannoroth was trapped and overwhelmed by three Genesaurs, whose nature magic prevented him from escaping or defeating them. Herad livestreamed the demon’s impending death, drawing shocked and excited viewers, including the Draenei.

  • Mannoroth fought the Genesaur for over an hour while Ulthalesh harried him, and Herad realized how immense the strength gap between demigods could be.
  • Two more Genesaurs arrived and joined the battle, forcing Mannoroth to fight all three as they repeatedly restored the forest with nature rain.
  • Mannoroth tried to break through the Genesaurs and flee, but roots bound him while new plants sealed off his escape routes.
  • Mannoroth realized he had been trapped and feared that dying would leave his soul waiting in the Twisting Nether before he could resurrect.
  • Herad began livestreaming the battle from Ulthalesh’s perspective, and viewers including Velen and Maraad watched in shock as Mannoroth faced defeat.

Ch. 253Tel'arn, the Ultimate Professional

Mannoroth was finally killed by the Genasaurs, while Tel'arn became fixated on studying Draenor's dangerous plant life. Herad met Tel'arn at the Everbloom with a sample of parasitic spores, and Tel'arn flew off to begin his research.

  • The Genasaurs killed Mannoroth after he withstood more than a dozen spear thrusts, then cleansed the fel energy and left his corpse for grass and dancing Dryads to cover.
  • Tel'arn asked to capture a Dryad for research, but warnings from Velen, Kael'thas, Etraeus, and others led him to agree not to bring samples to Azeroth.
  • Elisande privately warned Tel'arn not to bring the dangerous plants to Suramar City.
  • Herad met Tel'arn at the Everbloom with a bound Dryad spellcaster and explained that the plants' ancestors had corrupted Titan-forged.
  • Herad gave Tel'arn a bottle of parasitic spores and warned that they could infest plants, but Tel'arn took his Magic Carpet and flew away, insisting he was a professional.

Ch. 254Tel'arn's Amazing Creation

Tel'arn established a research base in Hellfire Citadel and used Draenor's spores to create intelligent Mushroom Men. Herad watched his success and sent him Teemo's character concept, suggesting weapons and Exploding Mushrooms for the new creatures.

  • Tel'arn chose the ruined Hellfire Citadel as a protected base and filled its outer areas with aggressive magical plants.
  • Tel'arn studied Draenor's spores with magical laboratory equipment and recombined their gene segments with cultivated spores.
  • Tel'arn awakened a new mushroom creature and named it a Mushroom Man after seeing it emerge from a giant mushroom ball.
  • Herad observed that the Mushroom Men could use tools and sent Tel'arn Teemo's character concept as inspiration for arming them with blowguns and Exploding Mushrooms.

Ch. 255Plants vs. Orcs 1

Tel'arn and Herad turned mushroom creatures into spore-firing defenders and deployed them at Hellfire Citadel. When Orcs and Fel Orcs launched an assault, the defenders filled the battlefield with spores, which began infecting the advancing troops.

  • Tel'arn modified mushroom creatures with air-powered gun-barrel mouths that fired wooden bullets, though their aim was poor.
  • Herad suggested adding infectious spores, and Tel'arn created bullets that burst into clouds capable of infesting a wide area.
  • Tel'arn mass-produced the mushroom creatures, which began patrolling Hellfire Citadel's walls as Orcs and Fel Orcs gathered nearby.
  • Orcs and Fel Orcs united to attack the citadel, with Fel Orcs charging through gaps in the damaged walls.
  • The mushroom creatures fired at the attackers, and their missed shots spread spore clouds across the battlefield.
  • Fel Orcs fought the Treants and carnivorous flowers while spores gradually took hold of them and the Orcs entering the mist.

Ch. 256Plants vs. Orcs 2

Herad’s plant army overwhelmed the orc siege at Hellfire Citadel, using spores to turn fel orcs into slow-moving plant allies. After the orcs withdrew with devastating losses, Herad arranged for dangerous, self-reproducing spores to be used on Mardum, while Kilrogg Deadeye watched the battle and considered how to conquer the man-eating forest.

  • Spores parasitized fel orcs and turned them into spore zombies that restrained the orc infantry while treants and carnivorous plants killed them.
  • Herad judged the orcs’ attack hopeless as the plant army’s spores, treant catapults, and numbers overwhelmed the siege force.
  • The orc siege army withdrew after suffering losses of more than eighty percent, and the plant army buried or parasitized the fallen.
  • Herad asked Tel'arn for seeds to help cover Mardum with greenery and use mushroom men to parasitize demon corpses.
  • Tel'arn supplied spores that could reproduce a second generation, increasing their danger and spread across Mardum.
  • Kilrogg Deadeye observed the battle from a hill and decided to consider how to conquer the man-eating forest.

Ch. 257The Plant Army Conquered Everything

Herad deployed a reproductive Mushroom Person Mother on Mardum, where it and the growing plant army consumed demon corpses and hunted the remaining demons. The plants cleared out an imp-filled cave after retreating from its fireball barrage, and transformed the Mother of Imps into their largest Spore Zombie.

  • Herad teleported a Mushroom Person Mother to a battlefield site on Mardum, where it grew mushrooms on demon corpses and spread spores that produced more Mushroom Men.
  • Herad sent the Mushroom Person Mother to other battlefield sites, and the plant army began devouring imps while searching caves and valleys for demons.
  • The Mushroom Men encountered a cave full of imps that bombarded them with small fireballs, setting some Spore Zombies and Mushroom Men alight and forcing them to flee.
  • The plant army returned to the cave and used spores and wooden bullets to kill the imps and transform them.
  • The plant army infected the Mother of Imps, which became its tallest and largest Spore Zombie.

Ch. 258The Legion Warships Return

Herad’s spore-plant army swept across Mardum, routing demon remnants with spores and overwhelming numbers, though it could not move the largest demon corpses. The Fel Death Star Cannon then detected two Burning Legion warships forcing their way through the asteroid belt, leaving Herad facing an imminent attack.

  • The Spore Zombies overwhelmed melee-fighting demons by clinging to them until their spores took effect, while the plant army consumed or recruited the routed forces.
  • Herad learned that spore plants could not move the largest demon corpses because doing so required more nature energy than they possessed.
  • The Fel Death Star Cannon sounded an alarm and fired at two Burning Legion warships detected in the asteroid belt.
  • The warships forced their way through the asteroid belt behind active Fel Shields, and the cannon’s next shot broke one ship’s weakened shield.
  • Both warships fired back, but their beams missed the crater containing the Fel Death Star Cannon.

Ch. 259Death by an Open Door in Space

Herad sent Ulthalesh and Xal'atath to attack two Burning Legion Warships, and both weapons breached the ships and vented their compartments into space. The demons could not stop the attacks, and the warships were captured with little resistance.

  • Herad teleported Ulthalesh onto a Burning Legion Warship with an intact fel shield while Xal'atath attacked a second ship.
  • Ulthalesh repeatedly struck the first warship's fel shield as Xal'atath cut through the second ship's hull and opened its compartments to vacuum.
  • A Mo'arg Engineer used a Tesla Weapon to weld the main control room door shut, but the electrical arcs interfered with the Small Arcane Golem.
  • Xal'atath hacked through the welded door to the main control room while the demons inside struggled to breathe.
  • Ulthalesh broke through the first warship's fel shield and opened the main control room to space, then opened or hacked apart more compartment doors.
  • Ulthalesh and Xal'atath captured both Burning Legion Warships as the demons aboard succumbed to the vacuum.

Ch. 260Plants vs. Demons

Herad unleashed Mushroom Men and other plant life-forms on the Burning Legion’s Fel Planets, capturing their docks and spreading a spore-borne infestation called the Green Scourge. The plants overran more than half of the targeted worlds, while Herad watched the demons’ ineffective counterattacks and considered how the infestation might be eradicated.

  • Herad sent Mushroom Men through a portal to attack a Fel Planet’s docks, where Ulthalesh and Xal'atath killed the demon defenders and the plants began spreading spores.
  • Herad personally attacked another Fel Planet’s defenders with Gravity Magic, cultivated more Mushroom Men from their corpses, and teleported away.
  • The plant army grew across the Fel Planets, while the Burning Legion sent increasingly large punitive forces that failed to stop it.
  • Herad considered whether a weapon like a Warhammer 40,000 Virus Bomb could eliminate the Green Scourge as the plants covered more than half of the worlds.
  • Viewers feared the plants’ ability to overrun everything but recognized their effectiveness against the Burning Legion.

Ch. 261Scouting Argus

Velen considered using Tel'arn's plant life-forms to reclaim Argus, but Herad warned that Sargeras had awakened its world-soul and suggested guerrilla warfare instead. Herad then opened a Portal to Argus to scout it, trapping curious demons beneath crushing gravity until they died.

  • Velen watched the plant army overrun the Fel Planet and considered using it to reclaim Argus.
  • Herad told Velen that Sargeras had awakened Argus's world-soul, making a full assault a fight against a god, and suggested disrupting the Legion through guerrilla warfare.
  • Velen said he would discuss Herad's advice with the Draenei Council before deciding what to do.
  • Herad used the Sargerite Keystone to open a Portal to Argus, intending only to scout the other side.
  • Nearby demons rushed through the Portal, and Herad increased the gravity until the demons were immobilized and died.
