Ch. 482Conducting Archaeological Excavations on the Vrykul

Herad’s Fern Treants overwhelmed the Vrykul in Stormheim and began searching their burial sites for Titan artifacts. After discovering a large temple complex that Herad identified as Aggramar’s Vault, he decided to oversee its exploration personally.

  • The Fern Treants restrained and drained the burned Vrykul soldiers, then routed other Vrykul who came down from the cliffs.
  • Many Vrykul fled south to Suramar, while the Fern Treants left them alone unless they acted with hostility.
  • Herad directed the Fern Treants to search Stormheim’s western and eastern areas for Titan artifacts buried in Vrykul tombs and temples.
  • The Fern Treants uncovered a vast plaza and temple complex that Herad guessed was Aggramar’s Vault.
  • Herad decided to oversee the vault operation himself because powerful Vrykul inside might threaten the Fern Treants.

Ch. 483Sweeping the Vault

Herad led the Fern Treants through a vast Vrykul temple, where they fought Vrykul wielding powerful Titan artifacts. After Herad restrained two Vrykul heroes with the Hammer of Khaz'goroth, the Fern Treants drained them, leaving Herad with only a modest haul of artifacts.

  • Herad entered the mountain temple and realized it was a Vrykul ancestor-worship site rather than the Vault guarded by Titan-forged.
  • Herad cleaned the Titan artifacts the Fern Treants had collected and expected to find many more deeper inside the temple.
  • Vrykul heroes wielding artifact shields and Greatswords resisted the Fern Treants' Rockets and cut several of them apart.
  • Herad used the Hammer of Khaz'goroth to bind two Vrykul heroes, and the Fern Treants drained them into desiccated corpses.
  • Herad recovered two artifact Greatswords and two artifact shields, but considered the haul modest.

Ch. 484Heading to the eastern region

After finishing their archaeological work in the western region, Herad led his army across the strait toward the eastern region, where Helya and the Vrykul’s undead fate awaited. He reinforced the great bridge and crossed it with the Fern Treants.

  • Herad found seven Vrykul heroes guarding the temple and collected twelve weapons.
  • Herad surveyed the withered eastern region and decided not to send the Fern Treants down to attack the Vrykul pirate ships.
  • Herad transformed the creaking wooden bridge into a solid stone bridge by spreading and hardening animated soil across its deck.
  • Herad led the Fern Treants across the reinforced bridge toward the eastern region.
  • Herad considered how Helya had become a Val'kyr, sealed Odyn's Halls of Valor, and established Helheim to turn Vrykul souls into weak undead.

Ch. 485Clearing out the Halls of Valor

Herad led the Fern Treant Burning Legion through the undead-filled eastern region and into the Halls of Valor to recover Vrykul artifacts. A giant Holy Light construct helped clear the ghost city as the Vrykul necromancers fled toward Helheim, where they faced certain death.

  • Herad watched the Fern Treants crush the ordinary undead and ancient Vrykul skeleton soldiers as they advanced through the eastern region.
  • Herad ordered the Fern Treant Burning Legion north toward the Halls of Valor, the largest Vrykul mausoleum.
  • Herad sent a towering Holy Light construct carrying the Silver Hand Warhammer through a portal to support the assault.
  • The Holy Light construct illuminated the Halls of Valor while the Fern Treants searched its stone houses and destroyed the undead inside.
  • The Vrykul necromancers fled deeper into the city, while Herad focused on finding the Titan artifacts and left them to face Helheim.

Ch. 486Target: Helheim

Herad’s Holy Light construct pursued the fleeing Vrykul necromancers into Helheim and began destroying Helya’s undead forces and ghost ships. Helya counterattacked with the Nether Domain Abyss, but the construct broke through its shield and started tearing apart the ship.

  • The Vrykul necromancers fled into Helheim to escape Herad’s Holy Light construct, which burned undead creatures to ash.
  • The construct entered the harbor and destroyed Kvaldir pirates and small ghost ships with its radiating Holy Light.
  • Helya ordered the small ghost ships away and fired negative energy shells from the Nether Domain Abyss.
  • The Holy Light construct leaped onto the Nether Domain Abyss, smashed through its death energy shield, and began wrecking its interior.

Ch. 487Helya's Miserable Fate

Herad’s Holy Light construct destroyed Helya’s ghost ship and defeated her in Stormheim. Herad imprisoned her soul in the Soul-Snatching Bell for an eighty-one-day trial, and sunlight returned to the bay as the Undead Scourge’s source was suppressed.

  • Helya enlarged her body to defend her ghost ship, but the Holy Light construct burned her and continued destroying the vessel.
  • The Holy Light construct switched to full power, charged Helya, and battered her until her soul was forced from her body.
  • Herad used the Soul-Snatching Bell to capture Helya’s soul and imprison her for an eighty-one-day purification trial.
  • Sunlight broke through the clouds over the bay after Helya was defeated and the source of the Undead Scourge was suppressed.

Ch. 488Returning to the Pantheon

After subduing Helya, Herad gathered more than a hundred Titan artifacts from Stormheim and Suramar City. He brought the haul to the ruins of Ulduar, where Mimiron used it to open a Portal to the Pantheon, leaving Mimiron overwhelmed by its enormous scale.

  • Herad ordered the Fern Treant Burning Legion to search Stormheim, where they uncovered buried Titan artifacts across the region and nearby islands.
  • Herad took powerful Titan artifacts from the Nightborne's museum in Suramar City's Temple of the Moon, including the Eye of Aman'Thul and the Aegis of Aggramar.
  • Grand Archmage Elisande considered moving the remaining museum collection after Herad emptied much of the Temple of the Moon.
  • Herad brought the artifacts to Mimiron at Ulduar, and Mimiron declared they were enough to activate the Pantheon.
  • Herad opened a Portal to the Pantheon, and Mimiron turned around to behold its immense expanse.

Ch. 489Activating the Titan Seats

Mimiron surveyed the Pantheon and used the Pillars of Creation and more than a hundred and fifty Titan artifacts to activate four Titan Seats. He believed their combined power could capture Sargeras, though Herad wondered whether four seats would be enough.

  • Mimiron flew around the Pantheon in his Flying Machine and completed an on-site survey.
  • Herad distributed the Eye of Aman'Thul, the Hammer of Khaz'goroth, the Tidestone, and the Aegis of Aggramar among the four Titan Seats.
  • Mimiron connected the Titan artifacts to the Pillars of Creation, and the four Titan Seats began to glow as energy flowed into them.
  • Herad warned Mimiron to stop waving his arms near the Flying Machine's rotor.
  • Mimiron checked the stable energy supply and declared that the four Titan Seats could capture Sargeras, while Herad questioned whether they were enough.

Ch. 490Sargeras successfully subdued

Herad and the Pantheon used a powerful Tractor Beam to capture Sargeras and hold him in temporal stasis. With the Pantheon's energy supply stable for two or three years, Herad planned to recharge it using the Obsidian Warship, which had repeatedly ambushed the Void Lords.

  • Mimiron activated the Titan thrones, and their Tractor Beam bound Sargeras in temporal and spatial forces.
  • Sargeras struggled and unleashed a fiery shock wave that destroyed nearby ships and asteroids before the Tractor Beam pulled him through a spatial rift to the Pantheon.
  • Herad saw Sargeras pinned beneath a curtain of white light and asked Mimiron about the Pantheon's energy supply.
  • Mimiron reported that the energy would remain stable for two or three years, and Herad said that would be enough time.
  • Herad planned to use the Obsidian Warship to recharge the Pantheon, recalling how it had ambushed the Void Lords and destroyed several of them.

Ch. 491A way to solve the problem once and for all

Herad and Mimiron equipped the Obsidian Warship with a modified Forge of Wills to provide the Pantheon with reliable emergency power. Concerned that spies might attack the Pantheon and free Sargeras, Herad decided to hide it in a dimensional space and considered turning to Helya.

  • Mimiron proposed moving the Forge of Wills onto the Obsidian Warship so it could store and supply energy to the Pantheon.
  • The Forge of Wills traveled to K'aresh and began purifying energy drawn from the Void World aboard the Obsidian Warship.
  • Herad worried that the factions watching the Pantheon might attack it and release Sargeras, but he refused to eliminate them over a threat that had not occurred.
  • Herad decided that hiding the Pantheon in a dimensional space was the safest way to keep it from spies.
  • Herad considered asking Helya, the only one on Azeroth known to command dimensional-space powers, to hide the Pantheon.

Ch. 492Picky Helya

Herad released Helya after purifying her soul with soul fire and asked her to help fight Sargeras, but she refused unless he made her a body from the best materials. She rejected his offer of elemental earth, leaving Herad to consider the costly challenge of finding a material she liked.

  • Herad determined that soul fire had purified Helya for over forty days and released her, confident that his safeguards would stop her from acting against him.
  • Herad asked Helya to help fight Sargeras, but she said the Titans had treated them as tools and that she wanted a physical body made from the best materials.
  • Herad offered to make Helya a giant's body from elemental earth, but Helya rejected it as drab and demanded something prettier.
  • Herad considered elemental water as an alternative and realized that building Helya a body would require a costly amount of magical materials.

Ch. 493Collecting Elemental Water

Herad summoned water elementals across Silithus to collect elemental water for Helya, who had chosen it over elemental earth for her new body. With the druids’ help, he gathered enough to prepare for fulfilling his promise and having Helya seal Sargeras.

  • Herad showed Helya elemental earth and elemental water, and she decisively chose the water.
  • Herad used Doomhammer to summon waves of water elementals into Silithus, where they dissipated and left behind elemental water.
  • The water elementals watered desert plants as they roamed, and druids planted drought-resistant greenery in the moist areas.
  • The druids collected the elemental water the elementals dropped and helped Herad fill more than a hundred large barrels.
  • Herad decided he had gathered enough elemental water and turned to fulfilling his promise to Helya so she could seal Sargeras.

Ch. 494Sealing Sargeras (Finale)

Herad and Mimiron helped Helya create a powerful body from Water of the Elements so she could seal Sargeras. Helya imprisoned him alone outside the prime material plane, leaving Herad to contemplate a universe without the world-destroying Titan.

  • Herad poured Water of the Elements into the Forge of Wills, and it formed Helya a giant ice-blue body.
  • Helya tested her new body and agreed to help seal Sargeras.
  • Herad opened a portal to the Pantheon, where Helya saw Sargeras bound inside a dome of light.
  • Helya decided to seal Sargeras separately from the Pantheon and wove a dimensional cage around him.
  • The cage became a white cocoon and carried Sargeras out of the prime material plane.
