"Careful, there's something behind the door!"
Hearing Lothar's warning, Bryan, who had already reached the door, instinctively took several steps back.
It was fortunate that he did, or Bryan might well have been injured.
"Waa..."
Strange cries rang out, and then several ugly creatures sprang out from behind the door.
They were very short creatures, a full head shorter than Dwarves; their bodies looked somewhat withered, but their chests were exceptionally muscular, with thick foreheads, jutting jaws, and deep-set eyes that revealed intense hostility and cunning.
"What kind of monsters are these?" Bryan exclaimed. "How come I've never seen them before?"
"They're Troggs!" Karin could not help frowning. He had already recalled where these monsters came from.
They were the product of the Titans' first attempt to create life from natural rock, but because of the corrupting influence of the Old Gods, and because the process had been somewhat rushed, they could only be considered failures (the successful products of the second attempt were Dwarves).
They had little intelligence and violent dispositions, so savage and twisted; yet the Titans could not bear to destroy them completely, so they buried them in what was now Uldaman.
In his previous life, the Explorer's League had accidentally released several such Troggs while excavating Uldaman; with their terrifying reproductive capabilities, they had nearly brought disaster upon Khaz Modan.
Upon seeing Bryan, the Troggs immediately let out savage roars and lunged forward.
Troggs harbored an innate hostility toward their Dwarf "cousins."
"Get out of the way, Bryan!" Lothar shouted, drawing Quel'Zaram and blocking the Troggs' path.
Though he was no longer young, Lothar still moved nimbly; with just a few slashes, the Troggs lay dead before him.
"Oh, thank you, Lord Lothar!" Bryan lightly patted his chest, looking at the Trogg corpses with lingering fear.
