Walking out of the examination room in June, Shen Yu stood there muttering to himself. His feet felt weak, as though he were walking on cotton, and everything felt unreal.
Pushed along by the crowd, Shen Yu had no thought of returning to the classroom to pack up his textbooks. In a daze, he headed straight for the school gates.
After leaving his examination room, Ji Cიცen spotted a dazed Little Yu nearby. The boy looked like a bewildered penguin, swaying from side to side as the crowd jostled him, yet still remembering to correct his course through his daze.
He strode over to catch up with Shen Yu. Having successfully escaped the crowd, the two walked into the sunlight, their shadows falling one behind the other in particular harmony.
Shen Yu only belatedly heard the footsteps behind him. He turned, saw Ji Cიცen, froze for a moment, then broke into a toothy grin.
"That happy to be done?"
Ripples spread through Ji Cიცen's heart as though a stone had been tossed into it. Seeing Shen Yu beaming, he could not help smiling too, casually wiping a smear of ink off his little deskmate's face.
"Actually, I'm not especially happy." Shen Yu instinctively stepped back. Seeing hurt show in Ji Cიცen's eyes, he explained awkwardly, "I thought I'd be really excited, but it turns out it's just... that."
