When it came to wild antics, nobody did it like characters in novels!
Fang Ning was still reeling from the explosive gossip when the sound of a car came from outside the villa.
Fang Ning pulled herself out of her thoughts and turned her gaze toward the villa entrance.
A Rolls-Royce stopped at the entrance. A moment later, the door opened, and a sharply dressed woman stepped out of the front passenger seat.
The lights in the villa's courtyard were not very bright.
Fang Ning could not see her clearly, but she could just make out the woman's lovely figure, tall and well-proportioned. She was a beauty.
Under the dim light, the tall figure walked slowly forward, her face coming into clearer view.
The beauty bore some resemblance to Ji Xiangchen. If Fang Ning's guess was right, this had to be the female lead, Ji Xiangyi.
Her face was coolly beautiful and exquisite, aloof and distant, keeping everyone at arm's length. She was like a thorny rose, beautiful but daunting to approach, while also shutting everyone out.
A true knockout!
Chapter 6
Fang Ning was also a sucker for good looks. She liked handsome men and beautiful women alike, so much so that even when Ji Xiangyi and that man walked right up to her, she was still absorbed in admiring the beauty.
Walking over to the sofa in the living room, Ji Xiangyi noticed Fang Ning staring at her. She turned, looked at that pretty, smiling face, and asked indifferently, "Do you need something?"
Ji Xiangyi's voice was cold, her face devoid of any other expression.
She had grown up in a family with little warmth, destined to be cold-hearted and indifferent by nature. To Ji Xiangyi, the people around her were merely living creatures capable of speech.
Whether it was Ji Xiangnian, Ji Xiangchen, or Ji Xiangzhou, it was all the same. In her eyes, they were simply objects that were alive.
That went all the more for this sister-in-law, who was a few months younger than her and whom she had only met a handful of times.
They all belonged to the same social circle, so she knew about Fang Ning too.
Fang Ning's mother was gone, and her biological father had married a stepmother. Fang Ning was decent-looking, but her intelligence was nothing special.
She did not understand how Fang Ning, who was her age, could be willing to marry Ji Xiangnian, an old man in his thirties with neither romantic flair nor emotional intelligence, only years to his name.
Ji Xiangnian was seriously off-putting too, actually marrying Fang Ning, who was even younger than her.
An old bull grazing on tender grass. Shameless.
At that moment, Fang Ning also came back to her senses. She shifted her gaze from Ji Xiangyi to the man, a somewhat complicated look in her eyes.
This man.
First glance: So ugly!
Second glance: This man was somewhere between really good-looking and ugly: really ugly!
Beauty, please get some sense! What on earth have you brought home?
After finishing her inward complaints, Fang Ning said without blushing or missing a beat, all so she could get a little more in the eventual divorce, "Xiangyi, you're back. Have you eaten? I just had Auntie Wang and the others make dinner. There's good food. Look at you, it's only been a few days, and you've gotten so thin."
"Is this gentleman your friend? Would he like to stay for dinner?"
[Wow, wow, wow! She's even prettier up close! What a gorgeous beauty! I want to snuggle up to her.]
Ji Xiangyi was just about to refuse when she noticed these excited, enthusiastic words springing up in her mind.
She froze for a moment, then frowned at Fang Ning.
Had I worked overtime for too long last night, tiring out my ears and making my brain hallucinate? But this voice sounded far too real.
Ji Xiangyi pondered for a moment, withdrew her gaze, and thought, Once I'm done with work, I should go to the hospital for a checkup.
When Ji Xiangyi did not respond, Fang Ning remained just as enthusiastic and continued, "Xiangyi, have you two eaten? Today, my auntie and the others made a big lobster and lots of other delicious food. If you haven't, I'll ask Aunt Wang and the others to set out bowls and chopsticks."
Ji Xiangyi still did not respond.
The man behind her stepped forward first, looking every inch a proper gentleman. "Hello, my surname is Zhao. I'm Xiangyi's boyfriend. I'd be delighted to stay for a family meal."
Fang Ning thought, Sure, go ahead and eat! Just watch me find a way to expose your ugly true colors later!
May lightning strike you for deceiving a beauty!
Ji Xiangyi's brows drew together, as though she was very averse to the phrase "family meal."
But seeing Fang Ning invite them so eagerly, she could not bring herself to refuse.
Ji Xiangyi looked away. Work had been too busy today, and she had not eaten dinner. She really was a little hungry now.
And so, Ji Xiangyi, who rarely ate at home
Dinner was indeed just as Fang Ning had described. There was fish, meat, soup, and all kinds of desserts, a very lavish spread.
Fang Ning was delighted as she looked at the feast on the table.
But whenever she thought of the scumbag deceiving a beauty who was also sitting at the table, Fang Ning felt deeply troubled. Her head hurt.
How exactly was she supposed to tell the female lead that her boyfriend was a scumbag?
Fang Ning took a bite of rice and looked up.
Ji Xiangyi sat very straight, wisps of hair falling lightly over her forehead, a rice bowl held in her hand. She ate at an unhurried pace, and she was so beautiful that even just watching her eat was a pleasure.
Fang Ning bit her lower lip, considered for a few seconds, and asked meaningfully, "Where are you from, Mr. Zhao? How long have you been dating Xiangyi? I wonder how many girlfriends you had before dating her."
Mr. Zhao was utterly shameless. "Me? This is my first relationship. Xiangyi is the only person I've ever liked."
Hearing Mr. Zhao's words, Ji Xiangyi did not contradict him, but neither did she show much of the sweetness of a girl in love.
Fang Ning inwardly gave the scumbag a thumbs-up.
Top-notch acting! He didn't even need to rehearse his lies!
Fang Ning popped a piece of lobster meat into her mouth, blinked, and asked sarcastically, her gaze inscrutable, "Really?"
"Xiangyi is very beautiful, and you look all right too. A talented man and a beautiful woman. You truly are a match made in heaven."
"Oh, as Xiangyi's elder, I'd like to ask where you live, Mr. Zhao, and where you're from. How old are your parents?"
Mr. Zhao frowned instinctively. What did she mean by saying Xiangyi was very beautiful while he looked all right, and that they were a good match? Wasn't there something rather off about that?
