Danzo sat in his chair, staring at the Third Hokage as he said, enunciating every word, "The orphan of the Uzumaki Clan should be handed over to Root!"

The Third Hokage readily agreed to this demand.

"Sure. Go ask Lady Mito to hand her over, Danzo."

After saying that, he looked at Danzo with an amused expression, wanting to see whether his old friend had the nerve.

If he hadn't still needed Danzo to do some of the dirty work, Hiruzen Sarutobi would have taken him down long ago.

Would he still have let him keep making a nuisance of himself in front of him?

Danzo's expression froze at the Third Hokage's words, and he said nothing more.

If he dared to approach Mito, would he have come here?

The Third Hokage's expression grew grave as he said, "Danzo, don't think I don't know about your meddling in the Anbu."

The annihilation of that Anbu squad was suspicious in itself in all sorts of ways.

Just what kind of opponent could wipe out a well-trained Anbu squad without even letting them raise an alarm?

Kumogakure had ninja like that, but judging by the strength of the ninja they had sent this time, they definitely couldn't have done it.

He had long suspected that Danzo had already extended his reach into the Anbu.

Because the Third Hokage himself also had his own eyes in Root.

Danzo's expression stiffened slightly at the Third Hokage's words. "Monkey, I did this for Konoha too."

The Third Hokage sneered at his excuse without responding.

With the sound of Danzo slamming the door, the Hokage Office fell quiet again.

Only the Third Hokage remained, expressionless, his thoughts unknown.

After Danzo walked out, he could hardly hide the malice on his face. Monkey, if you hadn't been one step ahead of me back then, the Hokage would have been...

That incident was a thorn in Danzo's heart. He hated himself for his weakness at the time.

At the thought, Danzo's face grew even more twisted.

Suddenly, he concealed his emotions and bowed deeply.

"Lady Mito."

Mito Uzumaki gave a brief "Mm" and walked into the Hokage Office.

Hearing the door open, the Third Hokage looked up toward the doorway.

When he saw who had come, he hurriedly rose to greet her. "Lady Mito, what brings you here? Please, have a seat."

Then he poured Mito Uzumaki a cup of tea.

Mito Uzumaki accepted the cup, took a sip, and said, "I came specifically to talk to you about Kushina."

The Third Hokage's expression immediately turned serious as he replied, "I will make sure Kushina is protected even more closely."

Mito Uzumaki waved a hand and continued, "And what else?"

"What else?" The Third Hokage lowered his head and began considering what he had forgotten.

Mito Uzumaki slowly said, "Qianye Lan successfully protected Kushina and spared Konoha a major loss. If this had been a mission, it would have been at least an A-rank mission. Isn't Konoha going to offer even a token of recognition?"

Only then did the Third Hokage realize that he had indeed forgotten about this.

It wasn't actually in accordance with the rules, but he had to show Lady Mito due respect.

The Third Hokage said, "Then what you have in mind is..."

He tossed the ball back to her.

Mito Uzumaki looked at him and smiled, teasing, "You really are a cheeky monkey. Then how about this: let Qianye Lan choose something from the Scroll of Seals himself?"

The Third Hokage hesitated at Mito's request. "Isn't that a little too..."

Mito Uzumaki tossed the ball back to him again. "Then what do you think would be best, Monkey?"

The Third Hokage took a deep breath and proposed a compromise. "Lady Mito, some forbidden techniques really are too dangerous. How about we select a portion of them and let that child Qianye Lan choose for himself? What do you think?"

Mito Uzumaki set down her teacup and nodded. "Then let's do it your way."

After discussing it, the two excluded forbidden techniques such as Impure World Reincarnation, leaving relatively safe forbidden techniques such as the Flying Thunder God Technique and the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique.

The Third compiled the available forbidden techniques into a scroll and handed it to Mito.

After accepting the scroll, Mito left the Hokage Office.

For once, Qianye Lan slept in.

The third reward was the main event for him.

The Uzumaki Clan's constitution meant that Qianye Lan would no longer have problems with insufficient chakra in either combat or training.

Somewhat excited, he chose to claim it.

But after he claimed it, there was none of the pain described in the novels from his previous life, only a gentle sensation.

Qianye Lan felt a warm current constantly remodeling his body.

The system interface also showed that fusion with the Uzumaki Physique had begun and was expected to take one day.

Mito Uzumaki smiled and said, "Silly child, I should be thanking you."

Then she handed Qianye Lan another scroll. "The previous one was from Konoha. This one is a thank-you gift from me on behalf of the Uzumaki Clan."

Qianye Lan was just about to decline when Mito Uzumaki interrupted him.

"If I tell you to take it, take it. Don't you know you mustn't refuse a gift from an elder?"

With that, Mito Uzumaki firmly pushed the scroll into his hands.
