As the sun sank in the west, Xia Yan spoke to the four Senju Clan ninja with a smile in the Anbu branch's dungeon.
Yet his gentle attitude did not make the four relax in the slightest. Even Kakashi glanced sideways at how deferential they were.
Xia Yan did not pay them much mind, though. Clearly, his earlier actions seemed to have frightened these four badly, but until certain things had been fully confirmed, he would not let them off easily.
He took Kakashi straight into the cells. The four Senju Clan ninja immediately withdrew and spread out to secure the entire perimeter, looking as though they were carrying out Xia Yan's orders to the letter.
Xia Yan offered no reaction, however, because there were still things he needed to confirm further. When they reached Pakura's cell, she immediately raised her head.
Her time in prison had been rather unexpected. Not because life had been difficult, but because she found it better than she had imagined.
Especially after witnessing a private meeting between Xia Yan and the Fourth Hokage, her days had become a little better.
Although her blood was still drawn every day, there were no harsh restrictions on her food, and she had yet to be brought out for interrogation. This hardly seemed like how the Anbu treated prisoners.
Could it be today?
Pakura wondered to herself, though her expression remained composed. As ninja, they had to undergo a particular kind of training starting in school.
That was how to resist interrogation as much as possible if captured by the enemy, or provide false intelligence so they could receive a dignified death.
Of course, most of the instruction concerned how to die more quickly during interrogation.
There
