Yang Yi had not attended a single class in a week.
After finishing those high-credit courses, he had stopped signing up for new ones. In a departure from his usual habits, he had begun focusing on maintaining Miskatonic University's greenery.
That was because another rule had been added to the Student Code of Conduct.
Rule 7. Cutting down trees on campus was prohibited. Violators would lose 100 credits per tree.
The university had hastily introduced this new rule after Yang Yi had nearly stripped the entire campus bare. The penalty was by no means light.
If it applied retroactively to all the trees Yang Yi had cut down, even ten million credits probably would not have covered his deductions.
That was because the university had restored those trees at one point.
But as soon as they were restored, Yang Yi had sniffed them out and come running. Using the Heaven-Breaking Ruler, he immediately cut them all down. Afterward, rather than putting them to any other use, he ate them outright or simply left them.
That was because the Molten Giant Worm Ring could not hold any more lumber.
And so this rule targeting Yang Yi was issued, lest the cycle continue endlessly. All the other enrolled students had to abide by it too.
Fortunately, the rule took effect immediately after it was issued.
Yang Yi reflected deeply on his mistakes, bitterly regretted his actions, and wrote an edict of self-condemnation... no, a letter of self-criticism, openly declaring his guilt. He posted copies everywhere. His handwriting was atrocious, and some of the letters even contained typos, though fortunately, they were still readable.
The letter posted beneath the Admissions Building read as follows:
"I was wrong. I should not have recklessly cut down trees, damaged the campus ecosystem, and harmed the university's
