"It's fine."
Yang Yi held out a hand to calm Hogru down, indicating that the situation was still under control and everything was normal.
Hogru immediately put his head back on. It fitted seamlessly around his neck, with almost no visible flaws unless someone stared at it with Three Eyes, as Yang Yi did, or used a microscope.
By then, the commotion outside had become clearer. Someone was fighting, their voice clear and pleasant.
"Damn it!"
"Have you got a death wish?"
"I was the one who raised you, and you dare attack me? Don't you know who I am...?"
Yang Yi knew who had come as soon as he heard her. This was not the first time, either.
Once Hogru had put his head back on, Yang Yi pushed open the door. A High-Rank Light Fairy two sizes larger than an ordinary Light Fairy was fighting the vegetables. She was already losing, tangled up in yardlong beans and forced to eat on the spot, using Sulfuric Acid Mouth to free herself while taking a couple of extra bites along the way.
When Yang Yi appeared, the lively plants quickly quieted down like mice spotting a cat, and Cui Xiya took the opportunity to escape.
"Honestly, these plants are so stupid. They're nothing compared to the Vitality Sardine Tree..."
Cui Xiya cursed as she flew unsteadily inside, some "vegetable juice" still clinging to the corner of her mouth. Then she spotted Hogru, and the two stared at each other.
Both were surprised, and both tacitly kept silent.
Only after Yang Yi closed the door and Cui Xiya changed back into her Night-Travel Bodysuit did the conversation begin.
"A spy sent by the Saintess?"
Cui Xiya reined herself in, flew onto Yang Yi's shoulder, and tugged his ear as she whispered.
