Arc 7The Rotting Whale

Yang Yi explored Salt Island, discovered it was a Rotting Whale, and claimed the Salt King’s power before helping destroy the creature with the Salt Spike. Afterward, he struggled with the Fruit of Abundance’s effects while Su Na studied his transformation and the story followed Shen Guanquan’s dangerous experiments.

  • Yang Yi and Su Na investigated Salt Island, found that its salt dried living things, and discovered the island was a dormant Rotting Whale.
  • Yang Yi harvested and sold salt before the Rotting Whale stirred, revealing its giant jellyfish-like form and the buried whaling ship within it.
  • Yang Yi searched the whale’s interior and found the Salt Spike, the Fruit of Abundance, and the remains of two men who had fought over them.
  • Yang Yi seized the Salt Spike and, after nearly dying, drove the Fake Salt Spike into his chest to gain the Salt King path and command the Salt Folk.
  • Yang Yi and his Salt Knights fought the Child of Abundance as the Rotting Whale assimilated it, until Yang Yi directed Su Na to use the Penitent Armor to drive the Salt Spike into the whale’s core.
  • The Rotting Whale turned to salt, but Yang Yi’s loss of control left him enormously obese, and he later exercised, lost weight, and learned from Su Na’s recovered records about the whaling fleet and the Salt Spike.
  • Yang Yi tested the Salt Bow, continued training as his transformation advanced, and offered a bounty for a Vampire’s coordinates while Su Na studied his blood and the Fruit of Abundance’s effects.
  • Shen Guanquan adjusted staffing at the level-four Farmer, and Zhao Tie Tou confronted him over the doctor’s experiments that had killed two hundred volunteers.
Chapters 151–175 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 151Attempting Treatment

After discovering his hunger and weight gain were worsening, Yang Yi asked Su Na to treat him with sea salt. The chapter ended with him buried in salt in the Witch Laboratory, awaiting the results.

  • Yang Yi equipped the Otherworldly Demon Hunter title and received 100,000 Conch Coins from Song Yingwen.
  • Yang Yi found himself eating canned bread unconsciously, and his weight rose from 91.5 to 95 kilograms overnight.
  • Yang Yi asked Su Na to tie him up, but she suggested treating his condition with a Salt Bath and sea salt.
  • Su Na examined Yang Yi and found his stamina had increased, while his attributes showed no other changes besides a stronger appetite and tendency to gain weight.
  • Su Na covered Yang Yi with sea salt and fed him a mouthful, leaving him buried on the metal table with only his nose exposed.

Ch. 152Hallucination or Nightmare?

Yang Yi endured Su Na’s salt treatment to cure his gourmet desire, but the experiment nearly killed him and brought on a vivid vision of a salt creature. He recovered after vomiting the salt, and the abnormal appetite disappeared, though he wondered whether the vision had been more than a hallucination.

  • Su Na submerged Yang Yi in increasingly concentrated saltwater, but his skin shriveled and his Qi and Blood steadily fell.
  • When Su Na asked whether his gourmet desire was gone, Yang Yi began swallowing sea salt uncontrollably, and his condition worsened.
  • Yang Yi wandered through a salt desert in a vivid vision and was pierced by a humanoid creature made of salt.
  • Su Na revived Yang Yi with water and saline, then made him vomit repeatedly until he was no longer in immediate danger.
  • Yang Yi found that his gourmet desire had disappeared and reassured the apologetic Su Na, but he remained wary that the salt creature might be real.

Ch. 153Using titles

Yang Yi told Su Na about his hallucinations, underwent examinations, and remained troubled by his appetite for her even after she confirmed he was healthy. Later, he discovered that a flashy title helped him trade more effectively, though it also attracted unwanted attention.

  • Su Na recorded her findings about using large doses of salt to treat Gourmet Desire while Yang Yi still found her appetizing and suppressed the urge to transform.
  • Yang Yi went to the deck, checked the weather, and found that the sea breeze eased his desires as his Qi and Blood recovered.
  • Yang Yi browsed the Chat Channel and learned that players could gain unique titles through widespread recognition, positions, or particular actions.
  • Yang Yi posted offers to buy enhancement stones and equipment under his title Otherworldly Demon Hunter, drawing attention from players who recognized him as One-Eye.
  • Yang Yi bought a Low-Tier Abyss Soulstone for 87,500 Conch Coins, confirming that prominent titles made trading faster, then ignored or blocked unwanted messages and critics.

Ch. 154The white island

Yang Yi and Su Na approached a strange, circular island covered in salt, where the surrounding sea appeared so saline that fish were scarce. After circling the island, they were left with an unexplained landscape of white ground and branchlike growths.

  • Yang Yi upgraded his Bloodstained Pirate Captain's Outfit to superior quality, raising his Agility by two while retaining its Sanity-draining effect.
  • After nearly an hour without a bite, Yang Yi caught a Big Salted Fish and spotted a large, unusually circular island on the Crystal Ball's Sea Chart.
  • Yang Yi told Su Na to prepare, checked their supplies, and steered the Nightmare Star toward the island; no other players' ships appeared.
  • As they approached, Yang Yi saw that the island's ground and sparse growths were white with what appeared to be salt, resembling the landscape from his Salt Bath illusion.
  • Su Na explained how salt can precipitate around highly saline water, and Yang Yi suspected the island's salt had reduced the surrounding fish and made the ship ride shallower.
  • Yang Yi circled the island before landing and observed its smooth, even perimeter, salt-covered surface, and scattered white branches, finding no large rocks or other sizable objects.

Ch. 155Attempting to Land on the Island

Yang Yi used the Lost Penitent Armor to investigate Salt Island after discovering that its surface and shrubs were made of salt. The island proved to be dangerous: it rapidly dehydrated a Long-Legged Sardine and killed it with a salt spike.

  • Yang Yi fired cannonballs at Salt Island and found salt frost covering dark soil beneath the surface, while the island's white shrubs shattered into salt dust.
  • Yang Yi noticed that the Human-Head Octopus he had fired onto shore had dried out unusually fast and decided to explore with the Lost Penitent Armor.
  • Su Na gave Yang Yi two Long-Legged Sardines to test for dehydration, and he controlled the armor from a raft toward the island.
  • Su Na found that the nearby seawater was supersaturated with salt, as crystals formed soon after she hauled it aboard.
  • Yang Yi collected salt and soil with the armor, then released one Long-Legged Sardine onto the island while keeping the other in a jar for comparison.
  • A salt spike impaled the Sardine as its moisture was sucked out, leaving it dead and dried into salted fish.

Ch. 156Salt Man

Yang Yi discovered that Salt Men on the island could drain moisture from living creatures and corrode metal, while the apparent island was actually the dried body of a Rotting Whale. After expanding his control range to three kilometers by wearing part of the armor, he sent it toward the island’s interior to investigate.

  • A Salt Man re-formed after the armor struck it, drained the Long-Legged Sardine into a salted fish, and then vanished into scattered salt.
  • Yang Yi collected salt and dried Rotting Whale tissue, and the activity log revealed that the apparent island was the remains of a giant creature.
  • Yang Yi found that the armor’s shovel had rusted after striking the Salt Man, while the armor itself remained unharmed.
  • Yang Yi tested the armor’s control range, discovered it was one kilometer, and extended it to three kilometers by wearing its right arm and shoulder armor.
  • Yang Yi equipped the armor with Fake Broken Iron and began exploring Salt Island’s central region while Su Na stayed aboard the Nightmare Star.

Ch. 157In That Case, Let's Sell Salt First

Yang Yi found no treasure while exploring the salt island, but Su Na discovered that the island was a dormant Rotting Whale whose tissue revived when exposed to White Seawater. Yang Yi avoided landing himself and turned the island’s salt into a profitable harvest, ending the chapter with 550,000 Conch Coins earned.

  • Yang Yi explored the island with the Penitent Armor but found only loose salt and salt bushes.
  • Su Na and Yang Yi subdued a lump of revived Rotting Whale tissue by pouring sea salt over it.
  • Su Na concluded that the island was a dormant Rotting Whale and that its tissue revived upon contact with White Seawater.
  • Yang Yi decided not to go ashore and instead used the Penitent Armor and floating barrels to harvest and sell salt.
  • Yang Yi dug up eleven tonnes of salt in one afternoon and earned 550,000 Conch Coins.

Ch. 158It moved

Yang Yi and Su Na investigated the salt-covered Rotting Whale and prepared for the spreading Abundant Sea, while Yang Yi bought a treasure-finding telescope. The Rotting Whale began moving and erupted, swallowing and blasting out sea salt as the Abundant Sea’s influence reached it.

  • Yang Yi removed his right arm armor with Su Na’s help, then bought the Eye of Greed for 155,000 Conch Coins and stored it for later use.
  • Yang Yi checked the World Sea Chart and saw the Black Fog advancing while the Abundant Sea spread, deciding he needed to keep harvesting salt before conditions changed.
  • Yang Yi used the Eye of Greed to locate a treasure or valuable object inside the island, but he and Su Na could not find a way into the Rotting Whale’s body.
  • Yang Yi tested whether the Salt Men attacked water inside the Penitent Armor, and Su Na concluded they targeted water within a limited range rather than living things.
  • Yang Yi dug up and sold fifteen tons of salt, earning 750,000 Conch Coins, before the island trembled and the Rotting Whale swallowed and erupted with huge quantities of salt.

Ch. 159Landing on Salt Island

The Rotting Whale awoke and shook most of the Salt Men from its surface, revealing that the island was a giant, salt-spewing jellyfish. Yang Yi reached the island to explore the Rotting Whale's interior while Su Na controlled the Penitent Armor from the Nightmare Star.

  • The Rotting Whale erupted with sea salt as Salt Men attacked it, and its movements shook the Salt Men and the Penitent Armor from its surface.
  • Yang Yi refused to let Su Na go ashore but gave her his right gauntlet so she could control the Penitent Armor and explore through it.
  • The salt cleared to reveal the island's true form: a giant jellyfish with holes that sprayed salt and a large central opening.
  • Yang Yi prepared fresh water to distract the Salt Men, transformed into a Werewolf, and ran across the sea to the island.
  • Yang Yi landed safely and headed toward an opening that had stopped spraying salt, intending to enter the Rotting Whale.

Ch. 160An unexpected discovery

Yang Yi sent the Penitent Armor into the Rotting Whale to scout its salt-filled interior while Salt Men battled the creature. After the armor descended into a vast cavern, Yang Yi and Su Na spotted a ship’s mast protruding from the salt and prepared to investigate.

  • Yang Yi and the Penitent Armor entered the cave, avoiding the Salt Men and using water to protect Yang Yi from the salt.
  • Yang Yi canceled his Wolf Transformation and sent the armor down a huge shaft that spewed sea salt.
  • The armor reached a cavern where Salt Men repeatedly attacked the Rotting Whale’s living walls and were swept away by powerful air currents.
  • Yang Yi and Su Na noticed a mast and ropes sticking out of the salt, suggesting a ship lay buried beneath it.
  • Su Na urged Yang Yi to dig, but Yang Yi took back control and walked toward the mast.

Ch. 161The Ship Buried in Salt

Yang Yi and Su Na excavated a three-masted ship buried in the Rotting Whale’s salt while the creature’s breathing grew stronger. They uncovered a room and its water-damaged records, then found a locked cabinet that might still hold something useful.

  • Yang Yi kept the Penitent Armor near the buried mast and used the Rotting Whale’s powerful air currents to expose the ship instead of exploring farther.
  • Su Na observed that the Rotting Whale’s breathing was becoming stronger and warned that White Seawater might revive it and free the Salt Men.
  • Yang Yi subdued three Salt Men with fresh water, leaving him injured and with less than five hundred liters of water remaining.
  • The Penitent Armor uncovered the ship’s deck and entered a salt-filled room, where Yang Yi dug out a desk, a fallen bookshelf, and several books and letters.
  • Yang Yi found that the ship’s records, including a sea chart and whaling log, were too water-damaged to read and set them aside to examine later.
  • Yang Yi discovered an exquisite, unrusted metal lock on a cabinet in the room.

Ch. 162Salt Spike

Yang Yi and Su Na discovered that the Salt Spike could turn the Rotting Whale into salt, but the whale’s body kept regenerating it. Yang Yi used the salt’s growth to locate the weapon and prepared to descend into the whale to kill it.

  • Yang Yi broke open a locked desk and found instructions explaining the Salt Spike’s power, dangers, and intended use against the Rotting Whale.
  • Yang Yi cleared salt from the ship, but the vessel toppled as a sandstorm scattered the salt and Salt Folk.
  • Su Na noticed that the Rotting Whale’s body was continually turning into new sea salt, spawning more Salt Folk.
  • Yang Yi used the salt’s growth patterns to determine the Salt Spike’s direction and decided to kill the Rotting Whale for its regenerating flesh.
  • Su Na took control of the armor to search the ship while Yang Yi replenished his water and transformed into a Werewolf to descend along the whale’s flesh wall.

Ch. 163Further In

Su Na searched the toppled ship and concluded that a mutiny and an intrusion by dangerous creatures had led to the crew’s deaths. Yang Yi reached the ship and pressed deeper into the Rotting Whale, where he found a sealed opening near its possible core and fired his Roaring Flintlock at it.

  • Su Na searched the ship, found a shattered crystal construct and dried corpses, and concluded that a mutiny and a dangerous intrusion had killed the crew.
  • Yang Yi descended into the Rotting Whale and reached the ship, where he reunited with the armor and replenished his water.
  • Yang Yi followed a path crowded with Salt Men, then climbed along the cave ceiling to avoid the salt-covered ground.
  • Yang Yi spotted an opening that might lead to the Rotting Whale’s core, waited for it to close, and fired his Roaring Flintlock in Roaring Mode.

Ch. 164Fruit of Abundance

Yang Yi escaped the Rotting Whale’s salt-filled chamber and climbed toward the white fleshy sphere he believed was its core, the Fruit of Abundance. He found a dried giant embedded in the sphere and a mummified man with the Salt Spike in his chest, leaving the mystery of their confrontation unresolved.

  • Yang Yi was blasted out of the salt chamber by the Roaring Flintlock’s shot and clung to the Rotting Whale’s inner wall.
  • Yang Yi observed the whale’s air chamber contracting and expelling salt, then drank fresh water and began climbing toward the central fleshy sphere.
  • Yang Yi climbed for about forty minutes, reached the chamber’s ceiling, and descended along the hanging flesh toward the sphere.
  • Yang Yi saw a dried giant embedded in the sphere and a desiccated man with a salt spear through his chest and one hand thrust into the giant’s neck.
  • Yang Yi recognized the spear as the Salt Spike and inferred that the two men had fought over the Fruit of Abundance.

Ch. 165Retrieving the spear

Yang Yi seized the Salt Spike despite its life-draining effect, triggering Refuse Death as he tried to kill the Rotting Whale. The Fruit of Abundance recovered, and an unseen attacker struck him into the salt below.

  • Yang Yi discovered that the Salt Spike drained moisture from anyone who approached it and prepared to retrieve it quickly.
  • He drank the Spirit Potion, enhanced both legs, and tested whether the giant guarding the Salt Spike would attack him.
  • When the air venting stopped, Yang Yi rushed to the Fruit of Abundance and grabbed the Salt Spike, suffering fatal damage and triggering Refuse Death.
  • The corpse holding the Salt Spike crumbled into salt, and the Fruit of Abundance returned to its healthy state.
  • An unfamiliar voice thanked Yang Yi before a powerful blow knocked him into the salt pile.

Ch. 166The Salt King

Yang Yi survived the Rotting Whale’s attack by activating the Fake Salt Spike and gaining authority over salt. As Su Na watched the whale revive outside, Yang Yi transformed into the Salt King and summoned an intelligent army of Salt Folk, shocking the giant.

  • The Rotting Whale recovered and began swallowing seawater, creating powerful currents that Su Na had to steer the Nightmare Star around.
  • Yang Yi lay badly injured in the air chamber as the giant withdrew its arm into the restored white ball of flesh.
  • Yang Yi deciphered the Fake Salt Spike and realized that surviving its initial cost would grant him authority over salt until death.
  • Yang Yi drove the Fake Salt Spike into his chest, survived with 1 Qi and Blood, and gained the Salt King path as his limbs regrew.
  • Yang Yi dried the seawater into salt and summoned armed Salt Folk, who knelt and called him their king.
  • The giant saw Yang Yi’s transformation and cried out in terror.

Ch. 167Salt King II

Yang Yi used his Salt King powers to lead the Star-Chasing Knights against the Child of Abundance inside the Rotting Whale. The battle reached a stalemate as the whale produced waves of flesh soldiers, but their bodies grew increasingly distorted and the giant shrank into a tumor on the Fruit of Abundance.

  • Yang Yi sent 120 immortal Salt Knights charging toward the Fruit of Abundance and ordered them to pierce it.
  • The Child of Abundance shrank the Fruit of Abundance and revived the Rotting Whale's flesh, producing armies of naked copies of the giant to overwhelm the knights.
  • Yang Yi retrieved his Penitent Armor, checked his powerful Salt King attributes, and noted that three minutes and twenty-seven seconds remained on Refuse Death.
  • The flesh soldiers became increasingly deformed as the Rotting Whale produced more of them, while the giant's head melted into a small tumor attached to the Fruit of Abundance.

Ch. 168The Salt King III

Yang Yi severed the Child of Abundance from the Rotting Whale’s core, but his strike failed to kill the core and awakened its full power. Trapped in the expanding flesh and unable to remove the Salt Spike himself, he sent Su Na instructions to use the Penitent Armor and drive it into the core as his Refuse Death timer ran out.

  • Yang Yi realized the Child of Abundance was being assimilated by the Rotting Whale and used King's Sword to cut into the core, severing the giant’s head but failing to destroy it.
  • The Fruit of Abundance swelled as the Rotting Whale’s core awakened, engulfing nearby Fleshmen, Salt Knights, and Yang Yi in its regenerating flesh.
  • Yang Yi concluded that the Salt Spike was the only way to kill the Rotting Whale, but a notification prevented him from removing it himself.
  • The Rotting Whale’s body split apart as its enormous core burst free, and Yang Yi’s signal with Su Na reconnected.
  • Yang Yi told Su Na to control the Penitent Armor, pull out the Salt Spike, and drive it into the core, then summoned the Star-Chasing Knights and threw the armor to her.

Ch. 169Gluttony Potion

Yang Yi removed the Salt Spike from himself and used a Gluttony Potion to survive by eating the Rotting Whale’s Fruit of Abundance. He recovered fully but awoke floating at sea with extreme obesity and severely reduced Agility.

  • Yang Yi let the Penitent Armor pull out the Salt Spike, losing the Salt King’s memories and loyal Salt Knights as the crown and robes vanished.
  • With his Qi and Blood falling to 1, Yang Yi drank the Gluttony Potion and gained a Glutton’s digestive ability, along with overwhelming hunger and thirst.
  • Yang Yi ate the Fruit of Abundance until the Penitent Armor drove the Salt Spike into the Rotting Whale’s core, turning its flesh to sea salt.
  • Still ravenous, Yang Yi fell into the sea and gulped seawater until he finally regained awareness with his Qi and Blood and Stamina fully restored.
  • Yang Yi checked his status and discovered he had become 311.5 centimeters tall and weighed 675.6 kilograms, leaving him severely obese as Su Na watched from the Nightmare Star.

Ch. 170Yang Yi, Fat as a Ball

Yang Yi recovered from his loss of control inside the Rotting Whale, remained extremely obese, and told Su Na what he had discovered there. After they examined the few surviving treasures and dealt with their Penitent Armor, Yang Yi went to sleep to recover from his weakened state.

  • Yang Yi returned to normal form but remained 240 kilograms, and Su Na questioned him about his loss of control and appetite.
  • Yang Yi told Su Na about the Child of Abundance, the Salt King, and the Fruit of Abundance inside the Rotting Whale.
  • Su Na showed Yang Yi a Withered Fruit of Abundance Shard and a sea-silver lock, while Yang Yi wondered whether ship-upgrade materials could be obtained another way.
  • Yang Yi planned to melt down the Penitent Armor, causing its spikes to retract; he and Su Na secretly decided to remove and study it.
  • Su Na treated the punctures in her hand, and Yang Yi went to sleep so he could recover from his weakened state.

Ch. 171Determined to lose weight

Yang Yi recovered, learned what Su Na had deciphered from the water-damaged whaling books, and began exercising to lose weight. He ended the chapter determined to lose 50 kilograms by restricting himself to water and Refreshing Coconut Juice.

  • Yang Yi slept for twenty-two hours while Su Na salvaged and deciphered the soaked books from the ship.
  • Yang Yi woke, saw sugar water and fish spreading across the sea, and found that the Rotting Whale island had vanished.
  • Yang Yi read Su Na's findings: the whaling fleet came from Kambal, Rotting Whales varied in size, and the Salt Spike could kill only medium ones or smaller.
  • Yang Yi learned from a hidden note that the fleet had a traitor and that the Keepers' Society advised stabbing the Salt Spike into one's own chest if unable to defeat him.
  • Yang Yi exercised despite his weakened condition, then vowed to consume only water and Refreshing Coconut Juice until he lost 50 kilograms.

Ch. 172Exchanging information

Yang Yi exchanged information about the Rotting Whale and learned that Vampires also possessed endlessly regenerating flesh, which could serve as an alternative upgrade material. He ended the chapter preparing to test whether Fruit of Abundance fragments could produce a useful result in the Gacha Machine.

  • Yang Yi discovered the Whale Hunter title and reviewed rising prices as the safe sea region neared the Abundant Sea.
  • Yang Yi sold Song Yingwen information about giant creatures in the Abundant Sea for twenty thousand Conch Coins and heard that Eden's leader was seeking information about Dream Demons.
  • Yang Yi posted an offer for information about endlessly regenerating flesh, and the Knight of Justice identified himself and shared information about Vampires.
  • The Knight of Justice said he had killed a Vampire who captained a special ship and obtained a Treasured Two-Handed Sword from its corpse.
  • After his weakened state ended, Yang Yi considered alternatives to retrieving the Fruit of Abundance from the Rotting Whale and put saved fragments into the Gacha Machine.

Ch. 173Salt Bow

Yang Yi tested the Salt Bow, confirmed that its Salt Arrows withered targets but drained water from the user, and gave it to Su Na. After exercising through the day, he found his stamina recovering unusually fast and his attribute experience rising sharply; the chapter ended with Su Na taking him to the Laboratory to examine his condition.

  • Yang Yi tested the Salt Bow, fired a Salt Arrow into a ray, and watched it turn much of the creature into salt before a Salt Folk dissolved in the sea.
  • Yang Yi sent the bow's information to Su Na, stored it for her, and replenished the water he had lost.
  • Yang Yi used fat fish as fuel for the Life Fireplace and exercised until evening, losing nearly thirty jin.
  • Yang Yi noticed that his stamina recovered almost twice as fast as before and that his Strength, Constitution, and Agility experience had risen substantially.
  • Su Na emerged, accepted the Salt Bow, warned Yang Yi to watch his eating, and led him to the Laboratory to check his physical condition.

Ch. 174Training

Yang Yi learned that his abundant fat was speeding his recovery and experience gains while his body transitioned toward assimilation, and he kept training despite relentless hunger and sleeplessness. Two days later, after losing weight, he posted a bounty for a Vampire’s coordinates.

  • Su Na examined Yang Yi and found his blood turning pale pink as he entered the third stage of transformation.
  • Yang Yi realized his stored nutrients were improving his training gains and decided not to cut away his fat.
  • Su Na sought White-Blooded Delicious Fish to test whether the Glutton’s digestive fluids could neutralize the harmful substance.
  • Yang Yi trained through the night, read the Weekly Magazine’s report about the Abundant Sea and a treatment for Gourmet Desire, and stayed awake until dawn.
  • Two days later, Yang Yi had reduced his weight to 160 kilograms and offered a bounty for a Vampire’s coordinates.

Ch. 175Attribute growth

Yang Yi improved his attributes through exercise and continued monitoring his pollution while Su Na tested how sea salt affected the extraction of nutrients from digested delicious substance. Meanwhile, the New World Fleet expanded its food production, and Zhao Tie Tou challenged Shen Guanquan over a doctor whose experiments had killed two hundred volunteers.

  • Yang Yi checked his improved attributes and noted that his weight loss and experience gains were slowing as the Fruit of Abundance was absorbed.
  • Yang Yi replenished his provisions and transferred most of his remaining funds to Su Na for her research.
  • Su Na drew Yang Yi’s blood and began testing whether adding sea salt could make extracting nutrients from delicious substance safer.
  • Shen Guanquan inspected the level-four Farmer and adjusted its staffing to increase production.
  • Zhao Tie Tou confronted Shen Guanquan about giving the doctor too much freedom after the doctor’s experiments killed two hundred volunteers.
