Ch. 21The rougher the seas, the more...

Yang Yi tried fishing to find food during the storm and caught a Demon Hammerhead Shark, whose description warned that its school was close behind. Nearly a hundred sharks gathered around the Nightmare, and Yang Yi and Suna prepared to face the attack.

  • Yang Yi and Suna sailed through the storm while running short of food, and Suna showed him a crystal-ball nautical chart.
  • Yang Yi tried fishing in the rough seas, then followed advice from world chat to remove the float and sink his hook deeper.
  • Yang Yi caught a Demon Hammerhead Shark and killed it with his Flintlock and Sea Serpent's Fang.
  • The shark's description warned that it was a social species, and red lights revealed a school of nearly a hundred sharks around the Nightmare.
  • Another Demon Hammerhead Shark jumped onto the deck, and Yang Yi came up with an idea as he and Suna faced the swarm.

Ch. 22Refuse Death

Yang Yi and Su Na fought their way toward the mast to escape the Demon Sharks, but Yang Yi was badly wounded as he climbed. When a shark bit into his calf, the Refuse Death talent awakened and sent him into a frenzy.

  • Yang Yi and Su Na crossed the deck toward the mast, and Su Na used a bow to shoot Demon Sharks in their eyes.
  • Su Na revealed that she had won a provincial archery championship, then climbed the mast while Yang Yi held off the sharks.
  • Yang Yi killed three sharks by dodging their leaps and stabbing their gills, but another shark bit his shoulder after his Flintlock misfired.
  • Su Na covered Yang Yi's climb with her arrows, but ran out before he could reach her.
  • A Demon Shark bit Yang Yi's calf as he clung to the mast, triggering the Refuse Death talent and Frenzy State.
  • Yang Yi regained strength, grabbed the shark's eyeball, and crushed it.

Ch. 23A big haul and a golden legend

Yang Yi and Su Na survived the Devil Shark attack and turned the sharks into resources for the gacha. After Yang Yi received mostly ordinary rewards, Su Na’s pull produced a golden orb, leaving him convinced the game favored the lucky.

  • Yang Yi unlocked a new talent, killed the Devil Shark attacking him, and used his Flintlock to fight off the remaining sharks while Su Na’s poisoned arrow helped spread the toxin through their cannibalism.
  • The sharks eventually all died, and Yang Yi and Su Na collected their corpses, keeping one shark aside for food and using the rest for 72 gacha pulls.
  • Yang Yi opened the rewards and received mostly basic supplies, along with a Low-Tier Fire Element, a red-glowing fishing net, and a Sharkskin swimsuit.
  • Suspecting that repeated submissions of the same monster reduced gacha odds, Yang Yi gave Su Na a shark fin to test his theory.
  • Su Na’s pull made the octopus machine glow gold and produced a golden orb, while Yang Yi reacted with envy.

Ch. 24Dark shapes writhing in the storm

Yang Yi and Su Na repaired the Nightmare after fighting sharks and continued through the Storm Sea, where Yang Yi’s nightmares and worsening darkness unsettled him. The chapter ended with them surrounded by more than a hundred giant, centipede-like worms.

  • Yang Yi repaired the Nightmare, recycled the shark remains with the Monster Gacha Machine, and warned the world channel against fishing in the Storm Sea.
  • Yang Yi learned that Su Na’s Witch’s Casual Clothes kept her warm and increased Sanity recovery, while his infused Sea Serpent’s Fang gained fire poison.
  • Yang Yi woke after dreaming that Su Na would shoot him and a giant centipede-like worm would swallow him, but refused to let the dreams control his decisions.
  • Yang Yi discovered that the Nightmare had stopped in total darkness and found Su Na staring at the stormy sea, where she said they seemed to be surrounded.
  • A lightning flash revealed giant, blade-jawed worms writhing around the ship, and the nautical chart showed at least a hundred of them surrounding the Nightmare.

Ch. 25Desperate straits! Surrounded by giant worms!

Yang Yi and Su Na were trapped in the Storm Sea among giant worms, but Yang Yi found a way to steer the Nightmare through gaps beyond the creatures’ limited detection range. After sharing the escape method and receiving a treasure from He Qi, Yang Yi upgraded his Rusty Flintlock and resisted the urge to test it on the worms.

  • Yang Yi questioned Su Na about the giant worms, then learned from the World Channel that they had appeared throughout the Storm Sea and were trapping players who had not escaped.
  • Yang Yi used a player’s estimate that a worm was two hundred meters away to set a safe distance on the Sea Chart and plotted a route through the gaps between the worms.
  • Yang Yi carefully steered the Nightmare for two hours, then shared his method in the World Channel and received supplies and a Low-Tier Abyss Soulstone from He Qi.
  • Yang Yi used the soulstone to upgrade his Rusty Flintlock into a treasure-grade weapon with Cannon Mode and an improved Standard Mode.
  • Yang Yi’s sanity fell to 48 as he eyed the giant worms, but he suppressed the urge to fire the weapon.

Ch. 26The storm stopped...

Yang Yi raced through the Storm Sea as the storm weakened and the giant worms began detecting ships more easily. He shot an attacking worm at close range, but it still rammed the Nightmare and split the ship in two.

  • Yang Yi learned that the storm was weakening and urgently changed course toward the nearby buffer zone.
  • As two giant worms pursued the Nightmare, Su Na released the Astrologer, drawing the worms away while the Nightmare continued onward.
  • Yang Yi and Su Na faced another giant worm ahead; Yang Yi told Su Na to jump into the sea and prepared his Flintlock.
  • Yang Yi shot the worm in the head at close range, but its charge continued and broke the Nightmare in two.

Ch. 27I want to merge with you!

After the Nightmare sank, Yang Yi and Su Na reached a small island and waited for their strength to recover while the Storm Sea’s remaining survivors dwindled. Su Na pointed Yang Yi’s own gun at him as a prank, then revealed that she wanted to merge their ships with a rare Ship Merging Card.

  • Yang Yi swam with the unconscious Su Na to an island after the Nightmare sank, then fell asleep with little vitality and no energy.
  • Su Na dragged Yang Yi inland and gathered the island’s available wood while he slept for over twelve hours.
  • A system announcement warned that only three players remained in the Storm Sea, and Su Na woke Yang Yi by pointing his Glimmer Flintlock at him.
  • Yang Yi offered Su Na his equipment and the island’s wood, but she demanded half of everything he owned and teased him about having no choice.
  • Su Na produced a Ship Merging Card, and Yang Yi realized she meant to combine their ships rather than merge with him personally.

Ch. 28Merge! The Nightmare Star!

Yang Yi and Su Na merged their ships into the Nightmare Star, but they lacked most of the supplies needed to rebuild it. They spent the day gathering resources on an island and rested there overnight while other players speculated about the missing Storm Sea survivors.

  • Yang Yi became captain after merging his ship with Su Na's Astrologer and renamed the combined ship the Nightmare Star.
  • Yang Yi found that the hold was nearly empty and calculated that they still needed large amounts of wood, stone, and cloth to rebuild the ship.
  • Yang Yi swam offshore and gathered 93 wood, while Su Na collected 74 stone and caught supplies and fish.
  • Yang Yi and Su Na stayed on the island overnight and took turns keeping watch.
  • Players in the chat channel speculated about the three missing Storm Sea survivors, and Yang Yi told his friends that his ship had blown up and he was building another.

Ch. 29The Black Fog Closes In

Yang Yi and Su Na scrambled to gather the last wood needed to rebuild the Nightmare Star as the Black Fog approached. They watched Yu Dawei’s battered Iron Will enter the buffer zone, and Yu Dawei tried to contact them for help.

  • Yang Yi saw the Black Fog drawing closer and went out to gather the remaining wood while Su Na collected supplies.
  • A panicked school of fish and sharks swept past Yang Yi, knocking him underwater as giant worms surged toward the island.
  • Su Na helped Yang Yi reach shore, but with 15 units of wood still missing, they dug up roots and gathered only seven units by evening.
  • Three giant worms vanished at the buffer zone, dropping their harpoons, and Yang Yi recognized the approaching battleship as Yu Dawei’s Iron Will.
  • Yu Dawei steered the damaged Iron Will toward Yang Yi and Su Na, then tried to reach them through the regional chat.

Ch. 30Nightmare Star, set sail!

Yang Yi rebuilt the Nightmare Star with Yu Dawei’s timber and agreed to tow the Iron Will as the Black Fog closed in. The two ships escaped at seventeen knots, staying ahead of the fog.

  • Yu Dawei offered Yang Yi one hundred units of timber in exchange for a tow, and Yang Yi agreed.
  • Yu Dawei harpooned the timber bundle to shore, and Yang Yi rebuilt the Nightmare Star into a larger level-two ship.
  • Yang Yi boarded the Nightmare Star with Su Na and discovered its expanded interior and improved ship skills.
  • Yang Yi and Yu Dawei agreed that Yu Dawei could take shelter aboard the Nightmare Star if it could not tow the Iron Will fast enough.
  • Yang Yi secured the Iron Will’s grappling hook to the Nightmare Star, and both ships accelerated to seventeen knots ahead of the Black Fog.

Ch. 31The World Sea Chart and the Approaching Extreme Cold

After the Storm Sea ended, Yang Yi learned that the Extreme Winter Sea was spreading and prepared for the cold while continuing his journey. He parted ways with Yu Dawei, used Giant Bobbit Worm flesh for two gacha draws, and obtained a rare ship relic before opening the second capsule.

  • Yang Yi checked the newly available World Sea Chart, which showed player coordinates, sea regions, and the Black Fog boundary as the Extreme Winter Sea began spreading.
  • Yang Yi read the chat and decided to buy several winter coats or down jackets to protect himself from the coming cold.
  • Yu Dawei invited Yang Yi to join the Iron Brotherhood, but Yang Yi declined; Yu Dawei gave him a piece of Giant Bobbit Worm flesh as a gift.
  • The Nightmare Star sped ahead of the Iron Will, and Yu Dawei watched it disappear while reflecting on Yang Yi's identity and their new friendship.
  • Yang Yi used two portions of Giant Bobbit Worm flesh for gacha draws and received a rare Giant Bobbit Worm Head ship relic, which he decided to install despite its risk of attracting powerful monsters.

Ch. 32The Witch Laboratory and potions

Yang Yi opened a Black Iron Supply Chest and weighed whether to build a Witch Laboratory requested by Su Na instead of prioritizing a cannon. After discovering that Su Na could create original potions, he approved the laboratory, leaving the Nightmare Star without a cannon for now.

  • Yang Yi opened the Black Iron Supply Chest and received large quantities of construction materials, then declined Xu Da's invitation to join the Gale Brigade.
  • Su Na asked Yang Yi to approve a Witch Laboratory, an expansion granted by her talent that required two expansion spaces and many supplies.
  • Yang Yi initially refused because he wanted to build a cannon first, but asked Su Na what the laboratory could do.
  • Su Na showed Yang Yi an original potion, Vitality Siren Juice, and they both drank some of it; the potion restored energy and increased its recovery rate.
  • Impressed by Su Na's ability to develop formulas, Yang Yi approved construction of the Witch Laboratory.

Ch. 33The founding of New World

Yang Yi and Su Na inspected the newly completed Witch Laboratory, where Su Na began dissecting specimens and requested money for research equipment. As Yang Yi prepared for the Extreme Winter Sea, he discovered Shen Guanquan was recruiting for the New World Fleet and used Peering to inspect Shen's ship, the Hope.

  • Yang Yi and Su Na entered the Witch Laboratory, and Su Na filled its vessels with Otherworldly Demon specimens, raising its specimen count to three.
  • Su Na asked Yang Yi for Conch Coins to buy laboratory equipment, and he transferred her 1,000 coins before telling her to prioritize recovery and healing potions.
  • Yang Yi planned supplies for the Extreme Winter Sea, including fire-starting tools, food, water, and cold-weather gear, while putting off upgrading the Nightmare Star.
  • Yang Yi saw Shen Guanquan recruit players into the New World Fleet, requiring recruits to disarm, grant boarding access, and surrender their supplies in exchange for promised safety.
  • Yang Yi activated Peering on a crystal ball and viewed Shen Guanquan's ship, the Hope.

Ch. 34A big deal

Yang Yi negotiated with Shen Guanquan, captain of the Hope, and traded the Pirate Ship Blueprint for supplies and the Greedy Stomach. After testing his new storage relic and outfitting his ship, Yang Yi prepared to gather more resources before nightfall.

  • Yang Yi identified the Hope as an ordinary ship and messaged Shen Guanquan to offer him the Pirate Ship Blueprint, while suspecting that some special ships in the fleet might have changed owners through violence.
  • Yang Yi rejected Shen Guanquan’s friend request and invitation to join the New World Fleet, then negotiated a trade for food, materials, Conch Coins, and the Greedy Stomach.
  • Yang Yi received the trade through the Octopus-Head Gacha Machine and discovered that opening or using the Greedy Stomach reduced his Sanity.
  • Yang Yi transferred Su Na another 1,000 Conch Coins, stored the food, installed the Bobbit Worm’s head, and cast the Red-Light Fishing Net into the sea.
  • Yang Yi took up his fishing rod to fish for the remaining four hours before dark.

Ch. 35Waterlogged Bronze Chest

Shen Guanquan considered how to use the Pirate Ship Blueprint to build a respectable maritime empire, while Yang Yi fished aboard the Nightmare Star. Yang Yi opened a dangerous Waterlogged Bronze Chest and found a Chest Clam packed with valuable loot.

  • Shen Guanquan rejected Zhao Tie's suggestion to rob Yang Yi and pondered using the Pirate Ship Blueprint to build a maritime empire.
  • Yang Yi fished for supplies, searched for fire-starting tools and warm clothing, and caught a Human-Head Octopus, which he killed.
  • Yang Yi fished in deep water and caught a Red-Lipped Eel and a struggling Waterlogged Bronze Chest.
  • Yang Yi pried open the chest, dodged its corrosive spray, and killed the Chest Clam hiding inside.
  • Yang Yi found 600 Conch Coins, a Wound-Healing Pearl, 50 crystal, and 20 stone inside the clam.

Ch. 36Three Bottles of Potions

Yang Yi brought unusual catches and a Wound-Healing Pearl to Su Na, who used them and the Devil Shark's eyeballs to develop three potions. After three days of fishing and gathering supplies, Yang Yi went to the laboratory to collect the finished prototypes, finding Su Na asleep at her worktable and the potions waiting there.

  • Yang Yi hauled in a Wound-Healing Pearl, an One-Armed Crab, and a Palm Star, then brought them to Su Na for inspection.
  • Su Na was inspired by the catches and the Devil Shark's eyeballs and promised to make potion prototypes; she later secretly worked overtime in the laboratory.
  • Over the next three days, Yang Yi fished up resources and unusual fish, gave the special catches to Su Na, and watched cold-weather clothing prices fall.
  • Yang Yi posted an offer to buy fire-starting tools and read Su Na's message that she had made three kinds of potions.
  • Yang Yi found Su Na resting in the laboratory and saw the three colored Unknown Potions on the table.

Ch. 37Yang Yi's observation diary

Yang Yi found Su Na feverish and exhausted, restricted her access to the laboratory, and discovered her detailed diary about him. He then pursued a lead on a rare Tinder Wool Sweater, changed course toward the island where its materials grew, and began searching for the seller, Hu Wei.

  • Yang Yi checked Su Na’s status, found her exhausted and suffering from madness-obsession, barred her from the laboratory, and fed her Refreshing Coconut Juice.
  • Yang Yi carried Su Na to her room, where he found her observation diary documenting his habits and fascination with his sanity and behavior.
  • Yang Yi decided Su Na’s diary did not warrant killing her, left her to sleep, and returned to fishing and buying supplies.
  • Yang Yi contacted Hu Wei about a Tinder Wool Sweater and learned he needed to gather ten units of tinder wool from an island before Hu Wei would make one.
  • Yang Yi added Hu Wei as a friend and used Peering to search for him, but found three players with the same name and could not identify the right one.
  • Yang Yi changed course toward the island, intending to use his Sea Chart to avoid any possible ambush.

Ch. 38Frenzy Potion

Yang Yi drank Su Na’s energy-restoring Frenzy Potion and discovered its powerful boost came with a severe frenzy side effect. After confronting Su Na and asking her to develop safer, more practical potions, he tracked Hu Wei near the suspected island and watched him repeatedly approach it.

  • Yang Yi drank the Frenzy Potion, restored energy, and entered a one-hour frenzy that cost him 20 sanity.
  • Yang Yi told Su Na to improve the potion, and she explained its effects and the ingredients and quantities available for several brews.
  • Yang Yi restored Su Na’s laboratory access after limiting her work there to eight hours a day and instructed her to develop an energy potion using easy-to-obtain ingredients.
  • Yang Yi used the Nightmare Star’s Peering skill to locate Hu Wei, then asked him how much Tinder Wool Grass he needed for a sweater-and-trousers set.
  • Yang Yi saw Hu Wei repeatedly sail close to the suspected island before retreating to a distance of about 100 nautical miles.

Ch. 39Ambush

Yang Yi and Su Na set an ambush for Hu Wei, who had been luring players to a dangerous island and salvaging their ships. Hu Wei boarded the Nightmare Star and Yang Yi shot him in the abdomen, leaving him wounded and captured.

  • Yang Yi told Su Na about Hu Wei’s ship-raiding scheme and planned to ambush him aboard the Nightmare Star.
  • Yang Yi and Su Na sailed to the island, hid below deck, and opened the ship to boarding.
  • Hu Wei spotted the Nightmare Star, waited to make sure it seemed empty, and boarded to loot it.
  • Yang Yi shot Hu Wei in the abdomen as he entered the hatch, leaving him wounded while Yang Yi prepared to question him.

Ch. 40Spider's Kiss

Yang Yi killed Hu Wei, who died by suicide and left behind a spider-related curse that appeared on Yang Yi. After collecting Hu Wei’s loot, Yang Yi and Su Na left to repair the Nightmare Star, while Yang Yi wondered what the island and the Spider Mother Goddess had to do with the curse.

  • Yang Yi questioned Hu Wei about the island, but Hu Wei killed himself before answering and spiders crawled from his corpse.
  • Yang Yi blasted Hu Wei’s body with his Flintlock, then discovered that a tiny spider had crawled out of his own body.
  • Yang Yi found a new status called Spider’s kiss, which linked the curse to Hu Wei’s death and reduced Spider-type Otherworldly Demons’ hostility toward him.
  • Yang Yi and Su Na collected Hu Wei’s drops, including Conch Coins, a Tinder Wool Sweater recipe, Spiderweb Gloves, a Delicious Chef’s Knife, and Healing Spray.
  • Yang Yi warned Su Na not to share or sell her potions, then prepared to leave the damaged cabin and repair the Nightmare Star.
