News from Yuncheng and Xuzhou eased some fears, but with armies mobilizing and defections spreading, the chapter ended with Xu Shiying choosing to entrust himself and his family to Zhang Xing rather than flee.

Ch. 228Marching in Armor (10)

Zhang Xing rallied the Exorcising the Dragon Gang’s vanguard, defeated pursuing government troops, and used a daring raid on their crossbowmen to buy time for Xu Shiying to bring up reinforcements. As Ma Hu’s force braced for the arriving infantry, Zhang Xing led his remaining riders in a charge toward Ma Hu’s banner.
