Elliot raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"So soon?"
"Of course. Just who do you think I am?" Victoria planted her hands on her hips, looking a little smug.
"So, is Vanessa going to become your [Immortal]?"
"An Im-Immortal?!"
Victoria choked, her voice turning into a stammer.
"Th-that has to wait until my Library becomes an Abode... uh, I think I have to become a Great Being first... anyway, she should only, only be invested as my Knight..."
Victoria took a deep breath and tried to compose herself. "Vanessa will become an Immortal, but not yet."
Then she muttered under her breath, "I'm not even an Immortal yet..."
"Then what do I need to do? How much does the investiture cost? Just send me the bill."
Victoria glared at him.
"You don't need to do anything... hmm, just ask her to come over. I'll discuss the rest with her."
Elliot nodded slightly.
Vanessa's investiture would be a good thing for him, too.
Although he did not know exactly how this Ritual worked, it should be able to improve a Supernatural person's potential.
Evan had reached high rank at such a young age because he had been invested and bestowed a name.
Presumably, Vanessa would no longer have to work so hard making sacrifices to advance in rank.
But...
For some reason, a sudden surge of disgust and resistance rose in Elliot's heart, as though being invested and becoming a noble were something terrible.
Could this be... the original owner's will?
The previous Elliot had always resisted making sacrifices, even earning himself the name "First-Rank Elliot" because of it.
But it wasn't as though he was being asked to make a sacrifice himself. Could he not even accept Vanessa making sacrifices?
Elliot hesitated for a moment.
The feeling was not intense. It
