"Vanessa..."

"No need to ask again. The Lord has her own arrangements," Vanessa said sternly.

Dorothea and Maeve exchanged a glance, both looking rather helpless.

The Courtyard had finally run out of food today.

Maeve had eaten the last corpse, leaving the entire Wood completely bare.

In other words, from now on, there would be no more supplies in the Courtyard.

The Communion had switched to rationing long ago, and there was actually still plenty of food stored away: an entire room piled high with Maeve jerky.

But Dorothea still instinctively began to feel anxious.

"Could we contact the Factory outside and have some supplies sent in?"

Vanessa looked helpless. "How would I have any way to contact her?"

"How did you contact her before?"

"The Lord contacted her."

"Then the Lord..."

"The Lord has her own arrangements." Vanessa's face turned stern again. "The Lord's greatness is beyond our imagination. If she hasn't had food sent in from outside, she must have other plans. Don't presume to guess."

Dorothea planted her hands on her hips in anger. "I'm not second-guessing the Lord. I'm saying we ought to do something, shouldn't we? Maybe the Lord's arrangement is for us to figure something out ourselves!"

"Well... I contacted Lillian and Victoria." Vanessa scratched her head. "Lillian said she could open a passage to the Sea of the Moon. That's... oh, I almost forgot. You haven't reached middle rank yet, so I can't tell you where that is."

Dorothea glared fiercely at her.

"Anyway, there are huge numbers of Lords of Dreams on the other side of the passage."

"Then why not open it?"

"Because Victoria objected." Vanessa sighed. "I didn't reveal much. Just hearing that we might open a passage from the Abode to the Sea of the Moon scared her terribly.
