Lillian's voice simmered with suppressed anger.

She was an Immortal, after all. Wasn't this taking things too far?

Bringing her meat like this! This was nothing short of an insult!

She had already gathered her spirituality, ready to fight Vanessa if she made a move!

But Vanessa's reaction was rather strange.

"Meat?" She looked at the lunch box in surprise. "What's wrong with the meat?"

She picked up a piece of meat and put it in her mouth, her expression turning complicated.

"Dorothea made it, but it's still Maeve meat. It's a little bad, but it's still pretty good."

Lillian couldn't make sense of that.

She stared at Vanessa, dumbfounded. "Y-you just ate it?!"

"Huh? What else would I do?"

"There's something wrong with this meat. Don't you know?"

"I..." Vanessa scratched her head. "I only know there's something wrong with Dorothea. Maeve should be fine."

Lillian frowned. She felt Vanessa was deliberately brushing her off.

She simply stopped arguing and sneered instead. "There's something seriously wrong with this meat. It's alive! You expect me to eat it alive? Anyway, bring Maeve here. I'll talk to her!"

Vanessa wore an odd expression. "...All right."

With that, she left, glancing back repeatedly as though Lillian had made some strange request.

Lillian couldn't help frowning.

Was her request strange?

There really was something wrong with this meat!

This cook named Maeve must have used some secret method to keep the meat so outrageously active that it hadn't died even after being charred.

If she ate it, who knew what might grow out of her stomach?

And... judging by Vanessa's reaction just now, she didn't seem to know about the meat.

That wasn't impossible. Lillian could tell that Vanessa herself wasn't very powerful. Perhaps she really hadn't noticed the problem with the meat.
