Vanessa was actually still in Dorothea's bedroom.
Good. She wasn't dead.
Thinking about it, that made sense. She couldn't climb down from upstairs on her own, and brazenly walking out the front door wasn't a good idea either. She could only stay the night here.
He wondered how she had dealt with the furious Dorothea.
Somewhat reassured, Elliot was about to leave when he suddenly stopped again.
He... had suddenly come up with a bold idea.
Swallowing, he first went to lock the door, then walked over to the Difference Engine, drew a deep breath, and...
Fed that lock of long hair into the Difference Engine's scanning slot.
The scanning slot wasn't limited to accepting paper. It was more like a station's baggage-screening X-ray machine.
It had been a sudden inspiration on Elliot's part. He couldn't determine where the long hair had come from, but could this Difference Engine?
The cover closed silently.
In an instant!
The low hum abruptly rose in pitch, and the entire Difference Engine seemed to suddenly begin running at full power!
Countless gears meshed and spun furiously at unprecedented speed! The cooling grilles blasted out scorching air! Even the massive body of the machine trembled faintly!
After what felt like a century, the Difference Engine gradually settled down. With a clatter of printing, a card slid out of the dispensing slot.
[Flora's Breath]
"Like flowing moonlight, spilling out of a dream."
The card depicted several strands of long black hair, seemingly drifting gently.
Elliot sucked in a sharp breath, his fingers trembling slightly.
Just as I thought! This really did come from the Supernatural!
It even says "spilling out of a dream." It actually knew this came from a dream!
An indescribable feeling surged through him. He stared blankly at the card in his hand.
