"If Yao Xuan likes Na'er's gift, then Na'er is really so happy!"
Seeing the smile on Yao Xuan's face, Na'er felt warm inside as well. She was extremely happy, the corners of her lips unconsciously curling upward into a sweet smile as she said softly:
"As for Yao Xuan's gift, Na'er is naturally very, very much looking forward to it! But if Yao Xuan can give Na'er a return gift today, Na'er will definitely be even happier. Is that okay, Yao Xuan?"
"You want your return gift today? Of course that's no problem, Na'er. And when I give it to you, it's fine even if you don't want to close your eyes!"
Seeing how happy Na'er looked, Yao Xuan could not help reaching out again and lightly brushing her incomparably fair, tender cheek, which seemed translucent.
"Okay, Yao Xuan! Then hurry up!"
As she answered earnestly, Na'er nodded slightly and aimed her forehead toward Yao Xuan.
"Alright, Na'er, let's go eat."
Yao Xuan lightly kissed Na'er on the forehead, then took her little hand and led her to the dining room.
Because today was Yao Xuan's birthday and also happened to be a day off, Lin Ximeng had prepared a very lavish breakfast for the family: cream cake, fried eggs, bacon, toast, milk, and fruit.
Faced with such an abundant spread, Yao Xuan and Na'er naturally beamed with delight. Lin Ximeng, too, wore a smile as she watched the two little big eaters wolfing down their food, her heart filled with satisfaction.
"Mom, this morning, I want to take Na'er to the nearby amusement park for half a day. We won't be coming home for lunch either. Is that okay?"
After breakfast, Yao Xuan went over to Lin Ximeng and told her about his plans for the day.
"Oh, you're taking Na'er to the amusement park? Of course that's fine. Balancing work and rest is necessary in the first place, and today is your birthday too. Go ahead and have fun."
"But Mom has to remind you: be careful on the road, and don't run around, or bad people might set their sights on you. Also, if you run into trouble, Yao Xuan, you can show your Soul Master identification first. That should take care of more than ninety percent of problems."
Hearing Yao Xuan's words, Lin Ximeng nodded in agreement before carefully reminding them.
"Mm, I understand, Mom. Then I'll take Na'er and head out right away. Na'er, let's go change first."
Having received Lin Ximeng's permission, Yao Xuan answered her while telling Na'er to go change clothes.
As for Yao Xuan himself, he returned to his room to change and brought along his wallet.
Over the past two years, Yao Xuan had forged more than a thousand Hundred Refined works at Mang Tian's Workshop. Although most of the income had to be handed over to Mang Tian, Yao Xuan had still received more than a hundred thousand Federal Coin as payment.
Yao Xuan had given half of those Federal Coin to Lin Ximeng to help with household expenses, while putting the other half into his private savings. Though he spent money fairly often, he still had nearly thirty thousand Federal Coin left, equivalent to a normal family's yearly income. Taking Na'er to the amusement park for half a day was more than affordable.
After changing into a black tracksuit, Yao Xuan stepped out of his room again. About a minute later, Na'er had finished changing as well and emerged from her bedroom into the living room.
Unlike before, Na'er had changed out of her pajamas and into a white dress. This was also one of the gifts Yao Xuan had given her when she started school.
"Yao Xuan, let's go."
Her large violet eyes gazed at Yao Xuan as Na'er urged him eagerly.
"Of course, Na'er. You've become even prettier today, too."
Seeing Na'er's utterly adorable appearance, Yao Xuan was briefly stunned. He soon recovered, however, and replied while taking Na'er by the arm. The two left the house and headed toward the amusement park in the city center.
After paying twenty Federal Coin for two tickets, Yao Xuan and Na'er entered the amusement park.
Though it was called an amusement park, it was not actually very large. It could not compare at all to parks like Happy Valley on Earth Star. After all, Red Mountain City was merely a small city with a permanent population of several hundred thousand, far inferior to major cities like Mingdu and Eastsea City.
Although it was the weekend, there were not many people in the amusement park. For ordinary families, a ten-Federal-Coin ticket was not expensive, but they certainly could not afford to come often. Thus, Yao Xuan and Na'er usually did not have to wait long before getting to enjoy the attractions they wanted.
Carousel, bumper cars, water rafting. To accommodate Na'er, the two chose relatively leisurely attractions and did not try thrilling rides like roller coasters.
As they played, Yao Xuan and Na'er chatted continuously. After two years together, under Yao Xuan's attentive care, Na'er had basically integrated into human society.
Of course, aside from Yao Xuan and Lin Ximeng, she still kept everyone else at arm's length and almost never took the initiative to speak to others. Fortunately, with Yao Xuan protecting her, no one at school dared bully Na'er.
Before Yao Xuan, however, Na'er naturally had no reservations. Amid their happy outing, time flew by, and before they knew it, it was lunchtime. Yao Xuan took Na'er to the dining center inside the amusement park.
Grilled skewers, teppanyaki, Wuhu noodle soup. One delicious dish after another was brought to the table, and Yao Xuan and Na'er let themselves go, eating mouthful after mouthful.
Just as two years ago, Na'er's stomach still seemed like a bottomless pit that could never be filled. Although she had already eaten no less than a grown man, her belly showed no sign of swelling at all.
On the other hand, with the Ancestral Dragon Bloodline, Yao Xuan's appetite was no less impressive than Na'er's. As the two ate, the stack of food boxes before them rose higher and higher.
"Burp! I'm full, Yao Xuan!"
A full half hour later, Na'er finally tilted her head back slightly and let out a satisfied burp. Combined with her adorable little face, it was impossible not to laugh. By then, the pile of food boxes before them had reached Na'er's chin.
"Good. It's good that you're full. I'll go pay the bill, then."
Seeing Na'er's satisfied expression, Yao Xuan smiled contentedly before walking to the cashier and paying for the meal.
"Na'er, I still have to go study forging with Teacher Mang Tian this afternoon. Let's go home."
After paying the bill, Yao Xuan returned to Na'er's side. Hearing his words, Na'er obediently stood up, came to Yao Xuan's side, gently took his hand, and silently held on tight as she followed him home.
