Riko Amanai took a step forward.
It was a small step, her foot making a faint crunch on the gravel.
She stopped about two steps in front of Suguru Geto and looked down at him.
She wore that familiar white dress, her hair stirring gently in the predawn breeze.
Her expression was complicated.
"Geto..."
Her voice had the same clear, girlish quality it had all those years ago.
But now there was a deeper undertone, as though steeped in time.
"Long time no see."
"Ri...ko."
Suguru Geto's Adam's apple bobbed.
He looked at the familiar face before him.
He remained silent for a long time, as though making sure the scene before him was no illusion.
Or as though struggling to take in a fact that had gone beyond anything he had anticipated.
"Riko."
"How... are you..."
He never finished the question.
Because he saw Satoru Gojo take half a step forward, his gaze settling on his face.
"I asked Wangchuan to bring her back to life."
"That guy... can do things like that."
Suguru Geto's gaze shifted from Satoru Gojo to Riko Amanai, then from Riko back to Satoru Gojo.
His brow furrowed slightly.
"Wangchuan... resurrection..."
"I see."
His gaze lowered to his severed left arm.
And the fatal wound in his chest.
"So... it's true."
"I did hear some rumors... through my contacts in the black market and Jujutsu Society."
"They said that Wangchuan... could use magic."
He lifted his gaze to Satoru Gojo again.
"Some even said he... could bring the dead back to life."
"I thought it was nonsense at the time."
He paused.
"I never thought it was true."
Satoru Gojo said nothing.
He simply watched Suguru Geto, looking at that body so broken it barely seemed human.
