Chiyo and Ebizo remained hidden in the shadows, with no intention of joining Gaara as he hosted the Ninja from Konoha.
The two, who had lived in seclusion for years, had appeared here, of course, because someone wanted them to come and do something that would satisfy everyone.
But Chiyo and Ebizo were seasoned veterans, not simple people. Both had long since seen through the truth hidden behind it all.
At their age, there really was no need for them to get involved in something like this.
But their concerns about Sunagakure's current state had still driven them to come to the Kazekage Building.
They had no objection to Gaara becoming the Fifth Kazekage. They simply wanted to see whether he could truly become a qualified Kazekage.
That was what mattered most!
After all, Gaara had not been Kazekage for long, and no one knew where he would ultimately lead Sunagakure.
And this situation happened to give some people dissatisfied with Gaara an opportunity to pull strings behind the scenes.
But after observing Gaara for several days, and then watching him receive the Konoha Ninja today, Chiyo and Ebizo had finally made up their minds.
Gaara was doing quite well as the Fifth Kazekage. Although they could not say he had surpassed his predecessors, managing to accomplish this much while being hampered on multiple fronts was already quite good.
At the very least, Chiyo saw some hope in Gaara-hope that Sunagakure would rise again.
"Sister, let's go."
"Yes, the younger generation is doing well. Perhaps I'll even see Sunagakure flourish again before I die."
