"Haah..."

Shihōin Naraku yawned as he sat cross-legged high above Sunagakure. Concealed by the darkness, no one could spot him.

"That was a pretty good show."

"At least I didn't wait all this time for nothing. But couldn't these people have checked whether Gaara was in the Kazekage Building before setting out to assassinate him?"

Naraku had no idea who had sent these assassins, nor was he interested in finding out, but they clearly hadn't done their homework. They didn't even know Gaara had left the Kazekage Building.

What good were assassins, however skilled, if they couldn't find their target?

What was more, Temari and Kankuro had dealt with the two assassins with ease. They hadn't accomplished a thing.

Naraku had figured it out. This internal strife in Sunagakure hardly counted as a serious problem. Gaara and his two siblings alone were strong enough to resolve it.

Besides, through his Observation Haki, Naraku had already discovered that Sunagakure's older generation of ninja had sided with Gaara.

Without intelligence or allies, they had no chance of removing Gaara from his position as Kazekage.

Now it was just a matter of when Gaara wanted to end this farce. If he wanted to catch all his enemies in one sweep, using himself as bait was a good approach.

But none of that concerned Naraku. As long as Gaara didn't go looking for death, he wouldn't be in any danger.

"Show's over. Time for bed."

Naraku leaned back and fell toward the ground. His figure flickered, and he vanished without a trace.

Of course, before leaving, Naraku still left a Shadow Clone behind as insurance, just in case.

"Kankuro, are you all right?"

Temari leaped onto the rooftop and looked at Kankuro
