Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura searched Orochimaru’s bases for the Uchiha’s stolen Sharingan, clashed with Shin, and uncovered a dangerous hidden blast. As Konoha handled Kumogakure’s response, Naraku agreed to leave the Hokage position within a year and began planning the postwar Chunin Ninja Exams.

• Naraku told Sasuke that Obito had hidden the Uchiha’s Sharingan and gave him clues, while Kabuto revealed Orochimaru’s bases and the existence of Uchiha Shin, an Itachi admirer with transplanted Sharingan.
• Sasuke recruited Naruto and Sakura to search Orochimaru’s bases, and the team found no Sharingan at Base A before heading toward the Land of Lightning.
• At Orochimaru’s second base, Sasuke and his companions recovered eight pairs of Sharingan and gathered research materials before Shin and his clones attacked outside.
• Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura defeated Shin’s clones, and Sasuke overpowered Shin with Susanoo and Amaterasu before burning him and his clones to ash.
• An explosion devastated Orochimaru’s base and mountain, prompting Kumogakure to search the site and seek Kabuto while Naraku arranged limited Konoha assistance.
• Naraku visited Flame Mountain, then learned Sasuke’s team had left to search the Land of Birds for Obito’s bases and Sharingan.
• Naraku told Konoha’s senior officials about the mission and announced plans to step down after the Chunin Ninja Exams, but agreed to Jiraiya’s proposal to leave within a year.
• Naraku asked Shikaku and Kakashi to prepare the Chunin Ninja Exams, which would include representatives from the Five Great Shinobi Villages and other factions.

Shihōin Naraku prepared Kakashi to succeed him as Hokage while Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura searched Obito’s hidden bases for usable Sharingan. Naruto uncovered a White Zetsu research facility in the Land of Waterfalls, and the search ended with the trio confronting a chakra barrier on an island in the Land of Water.

• Shihōin Naraku tasked Kakashi Hatake with organizing the Chunin Ninja Exams and confirmed to Shikaku Nara that Kakashi was his chosen successor, planning to resign after the exams.
• Jiraiya and Tsunade discussed Naraku’s planned departure, while Shihōin Harumoto accepted Naraku’s decision and pledged the Shihōin Clan’s support for Kakashi.
• Naraku rejected Kakashi’s objections to becoming Hokage and ordered him to prepare the exams, while Might Guy vowed to challenge Kakashi to a hundred duels.
• Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno found only ruined Sharingan at one of Obito Uchiha’s bases, then split up to search other countries.
• Naruto found Obito’s underground base in the Land of Waterfalls, discovered White Zetsu bodies and research records, and reported the site to Konoha with Shibuki’s help.
• Naraku and Yamato led Konoha’s investigation of the base, and Naraku recovered records on enhancing White Zetsu that shaped his plans to leave office and pursue Ōtsutsuki Isshiki and Kaguya Ōtsutsuki’s legacy.

Sasuke destroyed the preserved Sharingan and returned to Konoha, where he rejoined Naruto, Sakura, and their friends. Soon after, puppets abducted Hanabi during a Hyuga mission, and Shikamaru’s search ended with Hiashi revealing that the attackers were Hyuga.

• Sasuke found 109 preserved Sharingan in Obito’s hidden base, burned them with Amaterasu, and returned to Konoha with Naruto and Sakura.
• Naraku praised the team’s mission, and Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke, and their friends reunited over a lively barbecue dinner.
• Hiashi arranged to visit the Kaguya Clan with Hanabi, while Neji urged Hinata to consider confessing her feelings to Naruto.
• Toneri’s puppets ambushed Hiashi’s party, poisoned and injured the defenders, and abducted Hanabi as Konoha reinforcements arrived too late to find her.
• Naraku sent Shikamaru, Naruto, Hinata, Sakura, Rock Lee, and Tenten to treat the wounded, investigate the attackers, and search for Hanabi.

Shikamaru’s team traced Hanabi’s abduction to the moon and confronted Otsutsuki Toneri, whose Tenseigan attack devastated the Shinobi World. Hinata went with Toneri to protect her companions, while Kiba and Tokuma returned to Earth for help and Sakura, Sai, and Akame arrived to reinforce the mission.

• Hiashi revealed that lunar Hyuga had abducted Hanabi to use her pure Byakugan in a weapon, and Hinata vowed to rescue her.
• Shikamaru’s search teams followed Hanabi’s clothing markers to a hidden passage, and Naruto led the rescue team through it to the moon.
• Naruto and his companions met Toneri, who announced his plan to destroy the Shinobi World and asked Hinata to marry him, but Hinata rejected him.
• The team explored a deserted lunar city, discovered Hamura’s warning and visions of the Ōtsutsuki descendants, and learned that Toneri’s Tenseigan had awakened.
• Toneri sent lunar fragments toward Earth, but Shihōin Naraku destroyed them and carved a crater into the moon with his attack.
• Toneri fought Naruto and his companions, then blasted apart much of the city and captured Hinata after she offered to go with him in exchange for their safety.
• Shikamaru’s injured team stayed on the moon to pursue Toneri, while Kiba and Tokuma returned to Earth to request reinforcements.
• Naraku sent Sakura, Sai, and Akame to support the mission, and they arrived at the passage just as Kiba and Tokuma emerged.
