Xuan Zhe did not hurry to follow. His gaze fell on the little cat beside him. He could sense a considerable presence emanating from the little creature. Although it was still a little weak, that vigor already secretly surprised him.
It seemed he really had found a treasure this time.
Inside the hall, everyone took their seats and turned their eyes to Xuan Zhe, waiting for him to speak.
The kitten lay at the edge of the table, tilted its head, and slept soundly-it had run around so enthusiastically earlier that it was now exhausted.
"Brother Xuan Zhe, this cat is a new breed we developed here in Konoha. It's called Kitten." The village chief pointed at the furry little creature, his face wreathed in smiles. "Don't let its size fool you. Its speed and strength are both astonishing. It's quite formidable."
Xuan Zhe raised his eyebrows and looked at the cat, the corners of his mouth curving up slightly.
"Impressive indeed."
Hearing his praise, the village chief smiled even more broadly. Although he had not dealt with Xuan Zhe much, that expression alone told him that Xuan Zhe had genuinely taken a liking to Kitten. Otherwise, he would not have smiled so openly.
"If you don't mind my asking," the village chief leaned forward, "Brother Xuan Zhe, how did you tame Kitten?"
Xuan Zhe did not answer. He merely turned to look at the cat.
"Carry on talking. I'll go make some tea." The head elder stood up and left the hall after speaking.
The village chief rubbed his hands together and ventured another question. "Well... Brother Xuan Zhe, you wouldn't mind keeping one more kitten, would you?"
Xuan Zhe nodded. "Of course not." As he spoke, he reached out and rubbed the cat's head. "Your name is Kitten?"
