Ch. 1Running for Your Life

Shu Yan awoke as Uchiha Yan during the Nine-Tails' attack on Konoha and used a system-provided route to escape a collapsing passage with Itachi and baby Sasuke. They reached the Hokage Building, where an unseen person challenged them.

  • Shu Yan realized he had transmigrated into Uchiha Yan's body in the Shinobi World as the Nine-Tails devastated Konoha.
  • Uchiha Yan activated the Tianyan System and followed its route map, pulling Uchiha Itachi and Sasuke into a passage through the ruins.
  • When the passage began collapsing, Uchiha Yan carried Sasuke and hoisted Itachi onto his back to outrun the cave-in.
  • Uchiha Yan, Itachi, and Sasuke escaped just before the passage collapsed and found an undamaged building nearby.
  • Uchiha Yan led Itachi and Sasuke into the Hokage Building, where an icy voice demanded to know who they were and what they were doing there.

Ch. 2The show begins

Uchiha Yan and Uchiha Itachi were brought before Danzo after a Root ninja found them in the Hokage Building during the Nine-Tails attack. Yan avoided Danzo’s attempt to implicate the Uchiha by claiming the Fourth Hokage had sent him to request Anbu reinforcements, then theatrically blamed himself and the clan, leaving Danzo unable to respond.

  • A Root ninja accused Uchiha Yan and Uchiha Itachi of sneaking into the Hokage Building and took them to Danzo.
  • Danzo recognized the boys as Uchiha and accused Uchiha Fugaku of plotting a rebellion, but Fugaku attacked the Root ninja after seeing Itachi’s injury and Sasuke in his arms.
  • Danzo singled out Yan as a supposed spy while dismissing Itachi, and Fugaku did not intervene as Danzo pressed Yan for an answer.
  • Yan claimed the Fourth Hokage had ordered him to seek Anbu reinforcements, then loudly confessed and blamed himself and the Uchiha Clan for the crisis.
  • Danzo was left speechless as Yan’s accusations made it difficult for him to blame the Uchiha without implicating himself.

Ch. 3Making a move

Uchiha Yan provoked Danzo into ordering an attack on the Uchiha, then protected himself and Itachi until the Third Hokage arrived. After Yan revealed that the Fourth Hokage had identified Madara Uchiha as the Nine-Tails’ controller, the Third Hokage ordered the others to tend to the wounded and summoned Danzo, Fugaku, and Yan to the Hokage Building.

  • Danzo rejected Fugaku’s request to wait for the Fourth Hokage and insisted on investigating Uchiha Yan with the Yamanaka Clan’s secret technique.
  • Uchiha Yan accused Danzo of targeting the Uchiha, then launched a Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique and prompted Danzo to declare that the Uchiha were rebelling.
  • Root ninja and Uchiha clansmen clashed, while Uchiha Yan took Itachi away from the fighting and explained that he had attacked to bring the Third Hokage there.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi arrived and ordered the fighting to stop; Uchiha Yan pleaded his case, and Hiruzen rebuked Danzo for calling him, Itachi, and infant Sasuke spies.
  • Uchiha Yan said the Fourth Hokage had identified the Nine-Tails’ controller as the one-eyed Madara Uchiha, shocking those present and prompting Danzo to insist Madara was dead.
  • Hiruzen ordered everyone else to help the wounded and summoned Danzo, Fugaku, and Uchiha Yan to the Hokage Building.

Ch. 4The Uchiha Clan was kind

The Third confronted Danzo over his arrest of Uchiha Yan, who revealed that Minato had left a formula to track the enemy. Yan then persuaded the Third and Uchiha Fugaku that the Uchiha Clan was kind and humble, leaving the Third to reflect on what he remembered about the clan.

  • The Third accused Danzo of arresting Sasuke Uchiha and Uchiha Yan, while Danzo claimed Yan had intended to infiltrate the Hokage Building.
  • Uchiha Yan recalled that Minato had left a formula on the enemy that could be sensed with the Flying Thunder God Formula, and the Third realized Danzo’s actions had delayed the rescue.
  • The Third thanked Yan for his mission and offered to arrange his teammates, and Yan asked not to be assigned Uchiha teammates so he could learn from other ninja.
  • Uchiha Yan argued that the Uchiha Clan was humble, compassionate, and kind, while Uchiha Fugaku initially disagreed before admitting Yan nearly convinced him.
  • The Third defended the Uchiha Clan as friendly and fair, then paused thoughtfully as he seemed to remember something.

Ch. 5That's amazing

After the Nine-Tails’ attack, the Third Hokage decided to appease the Uchiha and conceal Minato’s death until the next day, while planning to blame the invasion on Akatsuki and a supposed descendant of Madara. Fugaku took the displaced Yan home, then left to help the wounded and confer with the clan.

  • The Third Hokage reprimanded Danzo for attacking villagers and obstructing the Uchiha, but Danzo rejected his authority and returned to Root.
  • The Third Hokage told Fugaku that Danzo had caused the Uchiha’s failure to support the village and urged him to identify the Sharingan-wielding attacker.
  • Utatane Koharu and Mitokado Homura discussed Minato’s death and the risk of an Uchiha rebellion, while the Third Hokage planned to portray the Uchiha as the village’s helpers and blame the attack on Akatsuki and Uchiha Zang.
  • The Third Hokage decided to announce Minato’s death the next day and summon Tsunade and Jiraiya back to Konoha.
  • Fugaku found that Yan’s home had been destroyed, put him up at his own house, and left to treat the wounded and discuss the clan’s next steps.

Ch. 6Please teach me, senior

Uchiha Yan's suggestion led the Uchiha Clan to use genjutsu and Fire Release to help Konoha's survivors, while Yan explored the Tianyan System. After learning that the Fourth Hokage and his wife had died, Yan began teaching Itachi about Haoran Qi, hoping to guide him toward a different path.

  • Uchiha Fugaku praised Yan's idea of using genjutsu to comfort grieving villagers and asked how Fire Release could help survivors.
  • Yan examined the Tianyan System, learned about its deduction and scanning abilities, and fell asleep.
  • Under Fugaku's leadership, the Uchiha Clan used genjutsu to soothe villagers and Fire Release to clear escape routes, despite their own discomfort with helping people.
  • The Third Hokage announced that the Fourth Hokage and his wife had died, and the news spread through Konoha.
  • During breakfast, Itachi asked Yan to teach him Haoran Qi, and Yan described it as a demanding path rooted in righteousness and self-cultivation.

Ch. 7Lord Danzo Wasn't to Blame

Uchiha Yan taught Itachi the Thousand Character Classic and claimed that haoran qi could improve spiritual energy recovery. After the Third Hokage assigned Yan to Kakashi’s team to help him through grief, Yan headed to Hokage Rock, worried that Danzo might exploit Kakashi’s despair.

  • Uchiha Yan taught Itachi a passage from the Thousand Character Classic and imagined using Confucianism to reform the Uchiha Clan.
  • Fugaku told Itachi he would leave for the battlefield after the Fourth Hokage’s funeral and assigned Yan to a team led by Kakashi Hatake with Hyuga Taichi.
  • Yan explained his invented theory of haoran qi to Fugaku, who considered testing whether it could speed chakra recovery.
  • Itachi told Fugaku that Yan had led him and Sasuke out from beneath the rubble, then secretly resolved to master haoran qi.
  • Yan worried that Danzo might recruit the grieving Kakashi and decided he would need to keep Danzo occupied in Root.
  • The Third Hokage assigned Yan to help Kakashi recover from grief, and Yan promised to get Kakashi back on track before going to meet Kakashi and Hyuga Taichi at Hokage Rock.

Ch. 8What a shame

Uchiha Yan met his new teammates, Hyuga Taichi and Kakashi, and Kakashi accused him of withholding information about the Fourth Hokage’s death. After Yan mentioned the Hokage’s child, Kakashi attacked him and demanded the truth, leaving Yan to challenge Kakashi’s refusal to seek answers.

  • Uchiha Yan met Hyuga Taichi at Hokage Rock and waited with him for Kakashi to arrive.
  • Kakashi blamed Uchiha Yan for the Fourth Hokage’s death, and Yan answered with an analogy that angered Taichi.
  • Kakashi attacked Yan with Chidori, but Yan’s mention of Obito made Kakashi’s strike miss.
  • Kakashi held a kunai to Yan’s neck and demanded to know why he had not given Danzo the information entrusted to him.
  • Yan explained that Anbu had arrested him and suggested the Fourth Hokage had chosen to die, possibly for Kushina, the village, or his child.
  • Kakashi reacted violently to hearing about the child, but Taichi knocked him away; Yan then accused Kakashi of believing only what he wanted to believe.

Ch. 9The perfect tool for showing off

Uchiha Yan confronted Kakashi over trusting Danzo’s claim that the Fourth Hokage’s child had died, then returned to the Uchiha compound and turned the clan’s anger over rumors into a call to investigate Root. He left Uchiha Haruna inspired by his fiery slogans and ready to urge the clan to find those behind the accusations.

  • Uchiha Yan accused Kakashi of believing Danzo over the Third Hokage and urged him to verify whether the Fourth Hokage’s child had survived.
  • After Kakashi claimed Danzo had told him the baby was dead, Uchiha Yan rebuked him and left Hokage Rock.
  • Uchiha Yan heard Uchiha Haruna and Jinyan complain that villagers were blaming the Uchiha for the Nine-Tails’ rampage.
  • Uchiha Yan persuaded the two Uchiha that Danzo and Root were behind the rumors and that the clan should investigate rather than attack villagers.
  • Uchiha Haruna gave Uchiha Yan a Dragon Fire Technique scroll, and Yan inspired Haruna and Jinyan with slogans about judging evil and bringing light to the village.

Ch. 10Mere ants

Uchiha Yan began writing books for Itachi while considering whether inner cultivation could affect the Sharingan. At the Shrine, Uchiha Jinyan and Xiaren inspired the clan to investigate the rumors against them, and Jinyan found someone badmouthing the Uchiha at the Barbecue Restaurant.

  • Uchiha Yan took Sasuke from Itachi and asked Itachi to bring him paper and brushes so he could write books before leaving on a mission.
  • Itachi brought blank scrolls and Fugaku's Phoenix Flower Jutsu and clan leaders' training notes, and Yan began writing the Great Learning to test whether inner cultivation could affect the Sharingan.
  • Fugaku struggled to manage a Shrine meeting as Uchiha clansmen argued over how to respond to rumors targeting their clan.
  • Uchiha Jinyan and Xiaren condemned the clan's concern for the rumors and set out to find those responsible, declaring that the Uchiha would judge their enemies.
  • Fugaku ordered the clan to help Jinyan and Xiaren investigate suspected spies while he went to speak with the Third Hokage.
  • Uchiha Jinyan reached the Barbecue Restaurant and found someone badmouthing the Uchiha.

Ch. 11Deceiver

Uchiha Jinyan and the Uchiha clan investigated rumors blaming them for the Nine-Tails’ attack, while Uchiha Fugaku secured the Third Hokage’s approval to pursue the rumor-mongers. At the funeral, a man urged the crowd to attack the Uchiha, and Haruna identified him as a spy and launched a Great Fireball Technique.

  • Uchiha Jinyan used genjutsu to learn that Genin Aoyama had spread the claim that the Uchiha released the fox, then headed to the shop next door.
  • Uchiha Fugaku proposed that the Uchiha investigate the rumors and deliver suspects to the Hokage Building, and the Third Hokage approved the plan while promising to protect the child.
  • Uchiha Yan attended the Nine-Tails victims’ funeral and noticed the Uchiha ignoring the crowd’s insults.
  • A stubble-faced man called on the crowd to attack the Uchiha and avenge the Fourth Hokage, so Uchiha Yan told Haruna to seize him.
  • The man escaped Haruna with the Body Flicker Technique, and Haruna called him a spy and attacked with Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique.

Ch. 12The fake innocent

Uchiha Yan used a tearful account of the Fourth Hokage’s final orders to turn the crowd against Danzo and prevent him from being taken by Root. Danzo accused the Uchiha of rebellion and ordered Root to kill them.

  • Uchiha Haruna blocked the Root ninja’s attack with a Water Formation Wall, while Uchiha Fugaku captured their target on a rooftop.
  • Danzo demanded that Fugaku hand over the captive and Uchiha Yan, but Fugaku refused and called for a public interrogation before the Hokage.
  • Uchiha Haruna threatened Danzo, and Uchiha Yan covered his mouth before he could say anything that might provoke a fight.
  • Danzo summoned Root reinforcements as Fugaku hesitated, so Uchiha Yan stepped forward and tearfully blamed himself for the Fourth Hokage’s death and the accusations against the Uchiha.
  • The crowd sided with Uchiha Yan, and the Uchiha warned Danzo not to touch him.
  • Danzo declared that the Uchiha Clan was rebelling and ordered Root to kill them all.

Ch. 13Let the heart arise without attachment

Jiraiya stopped Danzo from taking a spy away, but Danzo killed the captive with a cursed seal before the man could be questioned. After the funeral, the Fifth Hokage selection was set for the next day, and Fugaku faced pressure from the Uchiha clan to compete.

  • Jiraiya arrived and persuaded Danzo to leave the captive for the Hokage Building, but the captive's cursed seal exploded and killed him before Fugaku could finish ordering his transfer.
  • Uchiha Yan recognized the Tongue Root Calamity Eradication Cursed Seal and resolved to reform the Shinobi World and begin with the Uchiha clan.
  • At the funeral, the Third Hokage ordered the clans to prepare for Kumogakure, but Danzo argued that Konoha needed to choose a Fifth Hokage first.
  • The Third Hokage called for a jonin meeting and a Hokage vote the next morning, with a trip to the capital planned for that evening.
  • Fugaku convened the Uchiha clan, whose members urged him to run for Hokage to keep Danzo from taking the position.
  • Fugaku worried that competing would bring renewed pressure on the Uchiha and hoped Yan would dissuade him.

Ch. 14The struggle for the Hokage position

At the clan meeting, Uchiha Yan persuaded the Uchiha to oppose Danzo and support the Third Hokage’s return, while proposing that the clan build ties with the next generation. He then asked the clan to compile a complete family tree, citing Obito, Madara, and Kakashi as examples.

  • Uchiha Fugaku invited Yan to share his opinion at the clan meeting, and Yan argued that the Uchiha should judge leaders and oppose Danzo rather than chase the Hokage position.
  • Uchiha Haruna and other clan members debated Yan’s proposal, and Yan suggested that the Third Hokage resume his post until the next generation could reshape Konoha.
  • Uchiha Fugaku agreed to propose the Third Hokage’s return and vowed to stop Danzo from taking power.
  • Yan proposed compiling a complete Uchiha family tree, arguing that it should record the clan’s lineage and achievements, including Obito’s Sharingan awakening and Madara’s founding of Konoha.

Ch. 15Do you want to dance too?

Uchiha Yan organized the clan’s records, used the documents to gain simulation chances, and found possible paths toward awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan. After preparing a family-tree schedule, he headed out for his mission and left Uchiha Inabi astonished by the plan.

  • Uchiha Fugaku put Uchiha Yan in charge of organizing the family tree and assigned Xiaren and Jinyan to assist him.
  • Uchiha Yan scanned the Uchiha Shrine’s scrolls, gaining ten simulation chances from records about other clans and historical figures.
  • Uchiha Yan ran three simulations and received advice on ninjutsu training, awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan, and organizing the family tree.
  • Uchiha Yan considered using a Shadow Clone or Shisui Uchiha’s Kotoamatsukami to handle the intense emotions needed to awaken the Mangekyō.
  • Uchiha Yan gave Uchiha Inabi the family-tree schedule to deliver to Fugaku, and Inabi was shocked by its contents.

Ch. 16A chatterbox's nature

Uchiha Yan accidentally revealed his Mangekyō Sharingan research to Inabi, then left Konoha with Kakashi and Hyuga Taichi on a mission to deliver a letter to Hanzō. Meanwhile, Fugaku surprised the Hokage selection meeting by proposing that the Third Hokage return to office, leaving Danzo openly challenged.

  • Inabi used his Sharingan to copy Yan's scrolls and secretly sealed the memory of Yan's Mangekyō awakening method.
  • Yan joined Kakashi and Hyuga Taichi as they departed Konoha to deliver a letter to Hanzō of the Salamander.
  • Yan pressed Kakashi to teach him Lightning Clone and urged him to care for Naruto, while Kakashi confirmed his Sharingan had three tomoe.
  • Fugaku proposed that the Third Hokage resume his position, saying the Uchiha would oppose every other candidate.
  • Danzo challenged Fugaku by asking whether Jiraiya and Tsunade were unworthy, and Fugaku replied that the Uchiha would support either if they wanted the role.

Ch. 17Amegakure

After the Third Hokage won the vote to resume office, he sent Kakashi and his companions to Amegakure with a letter for Hanzō. Uchiha Yan suspected Hanzō was already dead and Nagato was secretly ruling the Land of Rain, and studied the villagers for clues as the team left to discuss their next move.

  • Tsunade and Jiraiya backed Hiruzen Sarutobi for Hokage, and the jonin vote gave him a narrow victory over Shimura Danzō.
  • Hiruzen ordered preparations for war, sent representatives from several clans to accompany him to the capital, and directed Danzo and Homura to hunt spies.
  • Kakashi, Hyuga Taichi, and Uchiha Yan tried to deliver Hiruzen's letter to Hanzō, but Jonin Furukawa said Hanzō would not see them and Amegakure ninja surrounded them.
  • Yan offered to leave and mentioned Konoha's interest in information about the Akatsuki, then pulled Kakashi away when Furukawa returned without granting them an audience.
  • Yan stopped Kakashi from raising his forehead protector and urged him to trust that Hanzō would meet them; outside, Yan watched the villagers and explained that their expressions and food could reveal the Land of Rain's condition.

Ch. 18Planetary Devastation?

Uchiha Yan suspected Hanzō was dead and devised a scheme to draw out whoever had taken his place by staging an Akatsuki attack. Nagato watched the deception unfold and, furious at the apparent threat, began forming a black sphere.

  • Uchiha Yan told Kakashi and Taichi that Hanzō might already be dead, based on the village’s food trade and Furukawa’s reaction to the Akatsuki.
  • Uchiha Yan proposed pretending to be Akatsuki members and staging a public attack to provoke a response, while Kakashi and Taichi played along.
  • Nagato learned that Konoha had blamed the Akatsuki and Madara Uchiha’s successor for the Nine-Tails incident and dismissed the threat to Amegakure.
  • Konan offered to meet Kakashi using a Paper Clone, but Nagato warned her that Kakashi’s teammate had the Byakugan.
  • Zetsu reported Uchiha Yan’s staged fight with Kakashi, including Yan’s fake injuries and curses, as Nagato grew angry and raised a black sphere.
  • Konan saw the black sphere and asked Nagato if he had lost his mind.

Ch. 19Martial uncles and nephews

Uchiha Yan and Kakashi confronted Pain in Amegakure after learning that Hanzō’s fate was unknown and that a figure called God governed the Land of Rain. Yan tried to escape by revealing the Akatsuki members’ connection to Jiraiya, but Pain refused to let the Konoha ninja leave, leaving their survival uncertain.

  • Uchiha Yan drew Amegakure’s attention by claiming Akatsuki was attacking him and Hanzō, while Hyuga Taichi learned that God governed the Land of Rain and Hanzō’s fate was unknown.
  • Pain used Banshō Ten’in to pull Uchiha Yan, Kakashi, and Taichi toward him, then repelled them with Shinra Tensei after Yan countered with a fireball.
  • Kakashi ordered Yan and Taichi to leave while he searched for Hanzō, and Yan fled before Konan intercepted him with explosive tags.
  • Yan told Konan that Kakashi was Minato Namikaze’s student and therefore Jiraiya’s martial nephew, then claimed Jiraiya had been searching for her and Nagato.
  • Konan asked the Konoha ninja to tell Jiraiya they would not return, but Pain argued they could not be trusted and refused to let them leave because they knew Hanzō was dead and had seen the Rinnegan.

Ch. 20An emissary of peace

Uchiha Yan persuaded Pain to keep Amegakure out of the great nations’ war and let the Konoha team leave with their memories intact. After Pain and Konan departed, Yan explained how they could report the mission’s outcome to the Third Hokage while preparing for the coming war.

  • Uchiha Yan urged Pain to accept the letter through a Hanzō impersonator and argued that keeping Amegakure peaceful would protect its villagers.
  • Pain told Yan and Kakashi to leave and report that he was in charge of Amegakure, which would not join the great nations’ war.
  • Uchiha Yan promised Pain and Konan that Konoha and the Uchiha would support peace, and Konan asked them to give Jiraiya her regards.
  • After Pain and Konan left, Uchiha Yan and Hyuga Taichi collapsed from fear while Kakashi questioned their reaction.
  • Uchiha Yan told Kakashi to report the truth to the Third and argued that the mission’s purpose had been to keep Amegakure out of the war and protect Konoha.
