Adonis City's walls stretched along the coastline as far as the eye could see. Built entirely from a deep blue stone, they shimmered like the sea beneath the Netherworld's dim daylight. Buildings rose to varying heights within the city, with the tallest towers piercing the clouds. Huge glowing crystals floated above their spires, bathing the entire city in a soft blue halo.
Beyond the city lay the Sea of Ruins. Dark purple seawater battered the breakwaters at the foot of the walls, and the spray glimmered faintly beneath the blue halo.
"As the central city of Ghost Soul Prefecture, it has few rivals in size anywhere in the Netherworld. It is a Prefect's domain, after all." Selena folded her arms across her chest, undisguised pride in her voice and her chin slightly raised, looking for all the world as though she were introducing her own back garden.
