Chapters 376–383 Vol. 4 Read

Ch. 376Invincible across all realms, yet unable to fulfill a son's duty

After the Divine Beast clans returned to their ancestral land, Shiheng began planning the Human Race’s migration but learned that his birth parents had died of old age in the Yulan Plane. In the mourning-clad imperial capital, Shi Hao, Kelin Xiaoman, and Grand Duke Kelin grieved their loss.

  • Oakes Redding and the Divine Beast clansmen bowed to Shiheng, then entered the Teleportation Passage bound for the Skyrite Mountains in Hell.
  • Shiheng planned to gather the scattered Human Race tribes and move the Human Race and Elven lineage to Hell’s Demon Abyss.
  • Shiheng felt his parents’ deaths across the planes and realized that, despite his power, he could not save them from mortal aging and death.
  • In the Klin Empire’s imperial capital, Shi Hao and Kelin Xiaoman mourned Shiheng’s birth parents as the city’s people observed a day of grief.
  • Grand Duke Kelin told Shi Hao and Kelin Xiaoman that the elders’ peaceful, long lives had been a great blessing.

Ch. 377Binding the Three Sages by Contract

After grieving his failure to see his parents before their deaths, Shiheng abandoned his plans for the human race and resolved to resurrect them through the Undead Great Way. He secured the aid of three primordial sages by offering them a million-year contract and the chance to become Paragons.

  • Shiheng wept over his regret at failing to protect his parents and be with them in their final years.
  • Shiheng decided to use his knowledge of their souls and the Undead Great Way to restore his parents to life and give them peaceful years together.
  • Shiheng confronted the Primordial Earth-vein Divine Tortoise, the Primordial Blood-colored Flood Dragon Venerable, and the old man of remnant fate laws, offering them a million-year contract in exchange for guarding the human race and campaigning across the heavens.
  • The three sages rejected being forced into submission and declared they would rather die than surrender their pride.
  • Shiheng offered them an equal agreement, promising to repair their bodies and Great Ways and help them reach Paragon before releasing them after a million years.
  • The three sages accepted the Heavens Contract and became Shiheng's contracted Divine Beasts.

Ch. 378Alone into the Netherworld

After binding three ancient Saints by contract, Shiheng ordered them to relocate the Human Race to the Demon Abyss and sent Sailiya ahead to secure its stronghold. With the race’s future entrusted to them, he entered the Netherworld alone to recover his parents’ remnant souls.

  • Shiheng completed a million-year Divine Soul contract with the Primordial Earth-vein Divine Tortoise, the Primordial Blood-colored Flood Dragon Venerable, and the Elder of the Remnant Fate Laws.
  • Shiheng ordered the three Saints to move humans from the Lingmeng Sky to the Demon Abyss and search the other Higher Planes for scattered human bloodlines.
  • The three Saints used their powers to protect and conceal the migration as humans passed through Teleportation Arrays to the Demon Abyss.
  • Shiheng sent Sailiya ahead to seize control of the Demon Abyss’s teleportation hubs and defend the Human Race’s new Ancestral Land.
  • After entrusting the migration and the Ancestral Land to the Saints and Sailiya, Shiheng entered the Netherworld alone to retrieve his parents’ remnant souls.

Ch. 379The Netherworld

Shiheng entered the Netherworld to find his parents’ remnant souls and defy the laws of reincarnation to bring them home. Guided by the soul marks he had placed on them long ago, he set out toward the dangerous heartland of the Netherworld.

  • Shiheng crossed into the Netherworld, where its laws suppressed ordinary cultivators, but his Divine Soul and mastery of Death let him perceive the realm without restriction.
  • Shiheng considered that he still needed a compatible Sovereign Spark to become a true Overgod, then set aside his ambitions to focus on finding his family.
  • Shiheng sensed the soul marks he had placed on his parents pointing toward the Netherworld’s sealed heartland.
  • Shiheng resolved to break through the divide between life and death without entering reincarnation and began walking toward the heartland.

Ch. 380Nether Soil Soul Lock

Shiheng crossed the Netherworld in seven days and reached the Undead Realm, where he confirmed that his parents’ souls were intact. He found their location and prepared to defy reincarnation to take them back.

  • Shiheng crossed forty-eight prefectures and reached the Undead Realm in seven days without using Teleportation Arrays.
  • Shiheng’s aura killed four Wolf Race Highgods who were attacking a group of nine human deities.
  • Shiheng sensed that the soul imprints he had placed on his parents were still clear and unbroken.
  • Shiheng used his divine soul to locate his parents’ remnant souls in a secluded nether valley.
  • Shiheng resolved to seize his parents’ souls from the Nether Soil and overturn the laws of reincarnation.

Ch. 381Guarding souls in the nether valley, awaiting their return

Shiheng found his parents’ remnant souls safe in a secluded nether valley and resolved to guard them until they matured into god-level souls and regained their memories. While investigating the valley, he discovered a ninth-level undead, a Saint undead, and a hidden Paragon High-God who seemed to be protecting the place.

  • Shiheng entered the secluded valley and found his parents’ fragile remnant souls drifting there, still intact after seven days in the Undead Realm.
  • Shiheng examined their souls and decided to remain for a century, nurturing them until they could reach godhood and escape reincarnation’s memory-stripping laws.
  • Shiheng surveyed the valley and detected a ninth-level undead and a Saint undead hidden nearby.
  • Shiheng discovered a Paragon High-God dormant beneath the valley and realized an unseen barrier had protected his parents from the nether energy and wandering undead.
  • Shiheng resolved to investigate the valley’s secrets while guarding his parents, confident that he could face the hidden Paragon.

Ch. 382Nether Valley's Pure Land, an Undead Who Defied Life, Death, and Fate

Shiheng settled in Nether Valley to recover and met a pure-hearted ninth-level undead whose soul carried both the Laws of Life and Death. After exchanging gifts, Shiheng suspected the valley and its quiet Paragon guardian concealed a profound secret.

  • Shiheng chose to spend a century recovering in Nether Valley and built a plain stone house by hand.
  • A clean, gentle ninth-level undead approached Shiheng and offered him green-glowing crystals he had made for lighting.
  • Shiheng examined the undead and discovered his mutated soul could sustain both the Laws of Life and Death, astonishing the souls of his two divine blades.
  • Shiheng gave the undead a Nine-Turn Life Spirit Root in return, and the undead carefully accepted the spirit medicine.
  • Shiheng suspected Nether Valley concealed a great secret while its silent Death Law Paragon continued to watch.

Ch. 383Years in Nether Valley

After a year of quiet recovery in Nether Valley, Shiheng consolidated his cultivation and learned the histories and limitations of the Verlan family. He understood that Soren had reached the ceiling of the Coiling Dragon World, while Linor and Ayla needed guidance to cultivate their unusual life-and-death laws.

  • Shiheng spent a year recuperating in Nether Valley, stabilizing his Dao Foundation and putting his four Supreme Laws in order.
  • Shiheng learned that the secluded undead Paragon Soren Verlan had risen from Saint-level cultivation in only three thousand years.
  • Shiheng discovered that Linor Verlan's undead body contained a pure Life Law, which the Netherworld's deathly power continually suppressed.
  • Shiheng learned that Ayla Verlan possessed a rare life-and-death symbiotic physique but had remained stuck at the ninth level without a guide.
  • Shiheng concluded that Linor and Ayla could not cultivate by devouring undead soul fires, which would poison their life essence and cause their laws to collapse.
