Rhodes and Di'ers stood in the air, waiting for the Deities from the other factions to arrive. Time swiftly passed, and streams of multicolored light could already be seen flying toward the castle from the horizon.
"Di'ers, you said there was something of tremendous importance to discuss. We're all here now, so you can tell us!" Before the speaker came into view, an incredibly arrogant voice had already carried over from afar.
"Pulide, there's no need to be so impatient. It was my lord's wish to have you all come together. I was merely passing on his message."
Upon hearing Di'ers say this,
It was not only Pulide, flying at the very front, who froze. The leaders of the other factions also looked at Di'ers in disbelief, while noticing the young man standing in midair beside him.
There was not the slightest intimidating aura about the young man. In fact, Rhodes had not deliberately restrained his aura; rather, Lowgods simply could not sense a Midgod's aura through perception alone.
Just as Di'ers finished speaking and they caught sight of Rhodes, countless streams of divine sense swept toward Rhodes. Immediately, everyone's expression changed drastically.
A Midgod! Di'ers actually pledged allegiance to a Midgod. No wonder, no wonder. Even the ever-unyielding Di'ers has had his day of submission. Thinking this, Pulide looked toward the leaders of the remaining three factions: one female Lowgod and two male Lowgods. The four exchanged glances, then began discussing through Divine Sense transmissions.
"What do you think? Do we fight?" An ugly look appeared on Pulide's face as well.
"We won't necessarily lose," another short Deity beside him said through divine sense.
"Then we fight. Damn that Di'ers." The female Lowgod also agreed to fight, replying with utter decisiveness.
"Then we fight. Each of you command your own subordinates and prepare to attack together. We still have the advantage in numbers," Pulide said, hammering down the final decision.
Pulide narrowed his eyes, staring at Di'ers in the distance, then glanced at Rhodes.
"A Midgod?"
Dozens of Deities watched the two before them in utter silence. Everyone was waiting for Pulide's signal, ready to swarm them. Suddenly-a furious roar rang out.
"Kill!!!" It was Pulide who abruptly roared.
Rhodes watched the people who had been communicating all this time without interrupting their transmissions. Just now, it had occurred to him that if he struck first and defeated them, it would instead make it easy for them to think that he had only beaten them because he attacked first and caught them unprepared.
In that case, he might as well wait until they had finished discussing things before striking and defeating them in one fell swoop.
"They're making their move." Rhodes's gaze shifted, and he summoned the Tribulation-Breaking Divine Sword.
Pulide's eyes reddened as he roared, "Everyone, attack together! Concentrate your attacks on that Midgod first!"
"Kill!" The first to charge were a group of Lowgods behind Pulide, rushing out at their greatest speed. In an instant, as though heaven and earth had been overturned, enormous elemental beasts appeared one after another and attacked Rhodes.
Nearly twenty Lowgods attacked in unison. Their sheer momentum alone left Di'ers feeling suffocated.
Moving as one, the remaining dozen or so Lowgods simultaneously swung their weapons, unleashing soul attacks at Rhodes. Translucent shapes of light of every kind flew toward him.
"Watch out!" Di'ers shouted toward Rhodes.
Before the battle began, Rhodes had told Di'ers to stay farther away from him, lest he accidentally injure him. Di'ers had thought little of it at the time, but now, watching so many attacks come at once, he felt glad they were not aimed at him.
These thirty Lowgods were less than a thousand meters from Rhodes, and soul attacks traveled far faster than an ordinary person's movement speed. Before the first wave flying toward Rhodes to launch Material Attacks had arrived, the soul attacks had already nearly reached him.
Rhodes had no intention of standing still and taking these soul attacks head-on. Although they could not do much damage to him, he would naturally dodge injuries he had no need to suffer!
With a flash of violet light, Rhodes vanished from the sight of Pulide and the others.
Boom! A peal of thunder rang out. Rhodes, who had been in front of them, had somehow already appeared behind them.
What Rhodes had just used was the lightning flash profound mystery, which he had yet to master completely. This was also an intermediate profound mystery within the laws of lightning. It would be a mistake to think Rhodes had only comprehended two profound mysteries.
He was studying all six; he simply had not fully mastered the other four yet. Others needed to gain comprehension, while he only needed to work through the Thunder Crystal step by step.
"Are you ready to face judgment?" Rhodes asked the thirty-odd Lowgods before him. At the same time, vast quantities of elemental divine power began fluctuating around the Tribulation-Breaking Divine Sword, while the lightning elements between heaven and earth abruptly gathered, drawn by the sword.
Rhodes calmly watched the thirty-odd Lowgods who had raised their weapons.
Surges of powerful lightning divine power rippled like ocean waves throughout a two-hundred-meter radius.
The thirty-odd Lowgods all prepared to defend themselves, yet they felt no attack whatsoever.
Whoosh... whoosh...
At that moment, all the lightning divine power suddenly vanished in an uncanny manner.
Just as they prepared to continue attacking Rhodes, a sudden change came over heaven and earth.
Bolts of thunder abruptly descended from the sky. Densely packed lightning struck incessantly, enclosing all thirty-odd of them tightly in an instant.
A prison formed from densely packed lightning power trapped every Deity within a two-hundred-meter radius.
"Wh-what kind of move is this?" The thirty-two Lowgods looked around in shock. Thunder pillars surrounded them on every side-pillars formed from lightning-with more bolts continually striking down.
One Lowgod slashed his weapon at a thunder pillar. The instant his weapon touched it, he stopped moving altogether, as though possessed. A tremendously powerful bolt of thunder struck him in the blink of an eye, and the Lowgod crashed down.
"How are we supposed to get out?" a Lowgod asked anxiously.
Just as everyone was thinking of a way out, a voice reached their ears.
"Face judgment!"
After saying this, Rhodes swung his sword toward the sky. His lightning divine power drained rapidly as bolts of thunder continually formed within the Thunder Prison and struck the remaining thirty-one Lowgods.
The reason Rhodes had not attacked earlier was that he wanted to test the Thunder Prison's Soul Control effect. The result proved quite good—very good indeed.
If anyone trapped within the Thunder Prison took the initiative to attack the walls of thunder pillars, they would inevitably suffer a soul attack from the profound mystery of judgment. At the same time, lightning carrying a Material Attack would instantly strike down inside the Thunder Prison.
A Deity suffering the soul attack would enter an unconscious state, naturally allowing Rhodes to kill them with ease.
Had Rhodes not controlled its power, that Lowgod from earlier would probably have been reduced to nothing but a Divine Spark by that blow.
"Killing people with this move would certainly be easy." Rhodes smiled faintly.
"Everyone, focus your Material Attacks in one direction!" After one Lowgod fell, Pulide suddenly bellowed.
Immediately, the thirty-odd Lowgods swung their weapons. In a flash, over thirty Material Attacks—ochre, pale blue, gold, and all manner of other colors—roared toward the Ten Thousandfold Thunder Prison.
But-
These dozens of Material Attacks merely shattered the few thunder pillars at the very front. Behind them, seemingly endless divine thunder pillars remained, filling them with despair.
These thirty-odd Material Attacks did not damage the Thunder Prison in the slightest. At most, they consumed a little of Rhodes's Midgod divine power.
Once their attacks ended, Rhodes's attack followed.
After a barrage of falling thunder, Rhodes dispelled the Ten Thousandfold Thunder Prison.
The entire Thunder Prison vanished outright, revealing Pulide and the others inside. Though slow in the telling, fewer than ten seconds had actually passed between the Thunder Prison's formation and its dispersal.
"Hm? Impossible." Pulide swept out his divine sense. Of the original thirty-odd people, only he remained suspended in the air.
Pulide understood that in that brief instant just now, everyone had fallen to the young man's attack. Even he had only managed to withstand those countless falling thunderbolts by using his defensive innate divine ability.
Pulide also understood that he definitely could not escape today, nor could he win a fight.
Is the gap between Lowgods and Midgods really this great? They're not even on the same level at all!! Pulide inwardly regretted his actions.
If looks could kill, Di'ers would surely have been killed countless times by Pulide's gaze already. Having us deliver ourselves right to his door was the important business you mentioned? What a...
Rhodes simply watched Pulide floating not far from him, with no intention of attacking again. If this man still refused to recognize what was good for him, Rhodes would not mind killing a chicken to warn the monkeys-killing the strongest Lowgod to establish his authority.
Pulide, however, knew how to read the situation. After shooting another fierce glance at Di'ers, he put away his weapon and descended toward the ground. Rhodes descended as well.
"My lord, I, Pulide, meant no offense. Thank you for showing mercy. I hope I may follow you from now on as well. I can only speak for my own faction; the others will have to wait until they regain consciousness," Pulide said to Rhodes, looking at the heap of people on the ground.
Although this man killed no one, every Deity's injuries have brought them to the brink of death. He truly is terrifying. Inwardly, he was glad he had been quick to recognize the situation, while his hatred for Di'ers grew even greater.
Di'ers also had something of a headache. Although they would all serve his lord from now on, they would probably split into two camps. He simply did not know whether his lord had created this situation deliberately or unintentionally.
Just as all sides were entertaining different thoughts,
"It's here!" Rhodes sensed it in a flash of intuition.
