Background / History

Previous Life and Rebirth

Rhodes was an unmarried salesman in his thirties on Blue Star. His parents had bought him a house and car, and he spent his free time gaming and traveling. His transmigration followed an accident involving an uncovered manhole while he was looking at his phone. His greatest regret was leaving his parents, whose only child he was, without having married or given them a grandchild 1 6.

After a prolonged period of consciousness inside an egg, he hatched on a lightning-covered mountaintop as the universe’s first living being. His bloodline identified him as a Wind-Thunder Divine Roc, born at the peak of Saint-level and destined to become a deity upon adulthood. Recognizing the setting from his knowledge of Coiling Dragon, he resolved to become a Paragon High-God, build a faction, and seize a Sovereign Spark when the Sovereign Era began 1.

Heavenly Thunder Mountain and the Thunder Region

Rhodes named his birthplace Heavenly Thunder Mountain and collected its natural treasures, including the Thunder Crystal. Rather than wait for adulthood, he cultivated independently, created lightning and wind divine clones, and forged equipment before leaving the surrounding sea of lightning 1 3 4 5.

His first encounter outside ended with him killing an attacking Lowgod belonging to Di’ers’s faction. He then confronted Di’ers, defeated him, and learned about the expanding Infernal Realm. Di’ers voluntarily became his subordinate, giving Rhodes a base from which to cultivate and gather resources 6 8 9.

After reaching Lightning Midgod, Rhodes overwhelmed the neighboring factions without killing their deities. He entrusted expansion and the search for the Amethyst Mountains to Di’ers and Pulide. Following five hundred years of cultivation, he departed to seek soul-strengthening treasures; his victories during the journey spread his reputation as lord of the Thunder Region 11 12 13 14.

Pash and the Amethyst Alliance

In the Star Mist Sea, Rhodes met Monty Pash, whom he recognized as a possible future Blood Peak Sovereign. A spar and an exchange of drinks led to their traveling together toward the Amethyst Mountains. Rhodes hoped Pash could help him confront the powerful deities guarding the amethysts 14 15 16.

Rhodes defeated the Amethyst Alliance elder Bollet with one sword strike before meeting Lei Jialie and Zijing. He and Pash subsequently gathered over a hundred million amethysts, strengthened their souls, and spent more than a century sparring and drinking with the couple. He remained their friend and ally rather than joining their faction 19 24 28.

When the Demon Alliance invaded, Rhodes used his extreme speed and Willpower-enhanced swordsmanship against Demon King Chris Ding, severing an arm. Unable to strike Chris Ding while Dislocated Space remained active, he instead negotiated a mutual nonaggression agreement that ended the invasion 33 34.

The Skyrite Mountains

After leaving the Amethyst Mountains, Rhodes gained major insights from a Fog Sea Riot while Pash protected him. The pair eventually reached the Aksu Continent and settled in the Skyrite Mountains, where they encountered the Four Divine Beasts 36 37 40.

Their relationship began coercively: Pash beat the four into cooperation, and Rhodes subjected them to his lightning training domain. Over five centuries, the four advanced to Midgod and eventually acknowledged Rhodes as their eldest brother. He began considering how to develop their fused innate ability and change their future fate 40 42 43 44 45.

Founding the Hall of the Gods

Conflict with the Light Alliance escalated into an invasion led by Aksu. Afterward, Rhodes chose to recruit the five surviving enemy Highgods rather than kill them. He, Pash, and the Four Divine Beasts founded the Hall of the Gods and swore before the Overgods to share prosperity and ruin 45 48.

By this point, Rhodes had learned that the Demon Alliance had slaughtered Di’ers and the followers guarding his former territory. He resolved to avenge them and reclaim Heavenly Thunder Mountain 48.

Light King Atez subsequently arrived and demanded Rhodes’s submission. Rhodes countered by offering Atez a place under his own command, and their ensuing fight continued for days. He abandoned a planned finishing attack after a Willpower-enhanced scan revealed Chris Ding, Lei Jialie, and Zijing watching nearby, with another powerful figure approaching 49 50.

Appearance

  • Original body: An enormous Wind-Thunder Divine Roc whose spread form can blot out the sky and sun 3 5.
  • Lightning Divine Clone: A youthful human form identical to his previous-life body, initially clothed in a pale purple robe created from divine power 3 11.
  • Wind Divine Clone: Appears in pale blue robes 12.
  • Movement: His roc form becomes a streak of blue-violet light; Heaven and Earth Extreme Speed produces a blue silhouette behind him 5.

Personality

Rhodes combines caution with a strong desire to display his strength. He conceals his original body, preserves trump cards, and scans his surroundings before committing to decisive attacks. Nevertheless, he openly dislikes pretending to be weak and sees demonstrating his power as one of cultivation’s rewards 6 10 50.

His approach to others is pragmatic: he prefers making friends, but believes irreconcilable enemies should be killed before they can grow stronger. His previous-life assumptions initially leave him unprepared for the Infernal Realm’s immediate resort to lethal violence, though he quickly becomes capable of ruthless retaliation 6 7 24.

He values companionship and fears an eternity spent alone. Friendship, wine, sparring, and the satisfaction of cultivation provide relief from the boredom of endless travel. His attachment is selective, however: he admits that he cannot protect every subordinate and often prioritizes his own advancement over managing his faction 14 32 34 49.

Despite his advantages, Rhodes does not consider himself an exceptional cultivation genius. He credits the Thunder Crystal and his knowledge of the original story for much of his progress, and encounters with other powerful deities repeatedly remind him not to become complacent 13 37 45.

Abilities & Skills

Heaven and Earth Extreme Speed

His wind-associated innate divine ability greatly amplifies the already exceptional speed of his roc body 1 3.

  • In his early testing, activation makes him at least one hundred times faster than his unaided flight 5.
  • Enables rapid retreats and attacks from an opponent’s blind spot; he uses it to appear behind Chris Ding before striking 33.
  • Restrictive spaces can reduce its practical advantage. Lightning Magnetism later gives him a means to partially counter such interference 37.

Willpower

As the first living being, Rhodes receives fifty percent Willpower might, later displayed as 0.5 portions 1 35.

  • Amplifies attacks and compensates for the divine-power gap between Midgods and Highgods 9 10.
  • Strengthens his soul, divine sense, and access to purer power within the Elemental Sea 3 50.
  • Automatically breaks Di’ers’s soul-control attack after it briefly interrupts his thoughts 8.
  • Has not yet granted him the full control over matter and space he associates with Highgod-level Willpower users 38.

Lightning Laws and Swordsmanship

Rhodes develops lightning techniques through profound-mystery fusion, supported by the Thunder Crystal 10 18.

  • Lightning Element: Initially uses compression to condense lightning around his sword and create explosive attacks 8.
  • Judgment: Combines material and soul offense; its fusion with Lightning Element forms the basis of his early signature technique 10.
  • Lightning Speed and Thunder: Allow high-speed movement accompanied by soul attacks. His uncontrolled travel technique can harm weaker beings along his route 14.
  • Lightning Magnetism: Creates a magnetic space that partially offsets restrictive domains and control abilities, though it is weaker than an innate divine ability 37.

Thunder Domains

Rhodes’s early Ten Thousand Layers Thunder Domain combines Lightning Element and Judgment. His later Heavenly Tribulation Thunder Region serves as both a combat technique and a training environment 10 42.

  • Can spread attacks across an area or compress their power into a single sword strike 10 19.
  • Allows selective targeting, leaving unintended targets unharmed 10.
  • Produces lightning figures and repeated attacks used to train the Four Divine Beasts 42 43.
  • Uses Humanoid Heavenly Tribulation against Atez’s numerous light clones 49.

Wind Laws

His Wind Divine Clone pursues cultivation separately from his lightning clone, but lacks an equivalent to the Thunder Crystal 3 42.

  • Fuses Fast and Slow into Speed and later incorporates Wind-Walking 18 35.
  • Combines sound waves and music into the Sound Profound Mystery 37.
  • Masters Dimension and begins linking it with Speed 42.

Divine Clones and Soul Defense

External godhood allows Rhodes to retain his original roc body while creating separate lightning and wind divine clones 3 5.

  • Can store his original body inside a divine clone and release it at will 3.
  • Uses different bodies for simultaneous cultivation and artifact forging 4.
  • His original body becomes physically stronger than his Lightning Divine Clone after divine-power refinement 3.
  • Two innate rays of light guard his soul space, with Willpower providing an additional defense 6.

Second Innate Divine Ability

A second, purple-associated innate divine ability awakens when Rhodes becomes a deity. The system continues to display it as question marks; its name and exact function remain undisclosed in the provided events 3 4 37.

Artifact Forging and Cultivation Guidance

Rhodes forges his own storage equipment and weapons, and teaches others how to improve their cultivation 4 42.

  • Advises Pulide on Earth-law cultivation 12.
  • Encourages profound-mystery fusion while still at Midgod, explaining that it becomes harder after advancing to Highgod 24 45.
  • Suggests that the Four Divine Beasts explore combining their innate abilities 45.
  • Uses knowledge of Coiling Dragon to identify treasures and important figures, but does not reveal everything he knows about the future 15 44.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Calamity Breaker / Tribulation-Breaking Divine Sword — His self-forged lightning longsword, made from purple lightning-infused ore. It has gold ornaments and a lotus-shaped guard. By his battle with Atez, the Midgod artifact struggles to withstand his full power, surviving because of its exceptional material 4 50.
  • Whirling Rise — Sword forged for his Wind Divine Clone from wind-element divine materials. Vermilion Bird’s Sparrow Flame assists in its refinement for more than twenty years 42.
  • Jade flute — Earlier wind weapon useful for fusing sound mysteries, but deemed impractical in battle and largely unnecessary after that fusion 42.
  • Thunder Crystal — A Lightning Element Heaven and Earth Wonder found at his birthplace. Aids comprehension and profound-mystery fusion, and protects him while crossing the surrounding sea of lightning 4 5.
  • Spatial ring — Self-forged and blood-bound; stores collected materials, treasures, and battle spoils 4 14.
  • Amethysts — Soul-strengthening resources collected with Pash in the Amethyst Mountains 24.
  • Heavenly Thunder Liquid — Liquefied thunder enjoyed as a rich, numbing drink and shared with Pash 13 16.
  • System panel — Displays his realm, mysteries, innate abilities, Willpower, and estimated combat strength. It has no demonstrated mission or reward functions 4 5.

Relationships

  • Monty Pash — Traveling companion, sparring partner, sworn younger brother, and fellow Hall of the Gods founder. Protects Rhodes throughout his fifty-plus years of contemplation in the Star Mist Sea 16 37 48.
  • Di’ers — Former opponent who voluntarily becomes his subordinate and manages his home territory. After Di’ers’s death at the Demon Alliance’s hands, Rhodes vows revenge 9 13 48.
  • Pulide — Subordinate responsible for expansion and resource searches alongside Di’ers; receives Rhodes’s cultivation advice 12 13.
  • Lei Jialie — Amethyst Alliance leader, sparring partner, and longtime friend. Rhodes can match his Highgod strength while remaining a Midgod, though he later senses a change in their relationship 27 44.
  • Zijing — Friend and host in the Amethyst Mountains; later observes his battle with Atez alongside Lei Jialie and Chris Ding 24 34 50.
  • Leiding, Nimo, Laius, and Bowen — The Four Divine Beasts. Initially coerced into cooperation, they become his trainees, sworn younger siblings, and fellow Hall of the Gods founders 40 42 44 48.
  • Chris Ding — The Demon King and a major rival. Their direct confrontation ends in a nonaggression oath, but the Demon Alliance’s destruction of Rhodes’s followers gives him a separate reason for revenge 34 48.
  • Aksu — Light Alliance enemy whose surviving Highgods Rhodes seeks to recruit. Aksu’s remaining divine clone initially prevents their old oaths from becoming invalid 48 49.
  • Atez — Light King and Aksu’s backer. Attempts to compel Rhodes’s submission, leading to a prolonged battle 49 50.
