Wen Zhiyan had come back for Jiang Lan.
A dating show, where participants could not leave midway without a reason, was an ideal setting for him and Jiang Lan to rekindle their relationship.
But he and Jiang Lan were both alphas. Not only did society reject them, even their biological instincts rejected their relationship. If Jiang Lan had been an ordinary person, Wen Zhiyan could easily have ignored what the world thought.
But Jiang Lan was not. He was a public figure.
Aside from Jiang Lan himself, no one knew better than Wen Zhiyan how much he had suffered behind the scenes to get this far and carve out a place in the entertainment industry.
If Wen Zhiyan recklessly made their relationship public, it would undoubtedly deal a devastating blow to Jiang Lan's career.
Even if he had enough money and ability to keep Jiang Lan living in luxury, even if he selfishly wanted Jiang Lan all to himself, he could not let all those years of hard work go to waste simply because it was what he wanted.
If he did, Jiang Lan would never forgive him.
Originally, Wen Zhiyan had considered whether he needed to find someone to act as a cover for his relationship with Jiang Lan.
In reality, though, the fact that they were both alphas already provided enough cover to mislead people.
Besides, Jiang Lan was prone to jealousy. He had been that way long ago. Sometimes, even when he knew something was impossible and knew Wen Zhiyan would never do it, he would still get caught up in his own imaginings and become too upset to eat.
So Wen Zhiyan abandoned that plan and bluntly warned Lin Ziyou not to set his sights on him.
Wen Zhiyan's words came out of nowhere.
For a moment, Lin Ziyou could not process what Wen Zhiyan meant.
After all, this was the first time anyone had rejected him so outright.
It was not that Lin Ziyou was overly confident. As an omega, he was an exceptional catch by absolutely any measure.
Countless alphas lined up to pursue him, including plenty with top-tier pheromones, only to become one of the many fish in his vast pond.
To be honest, Jiang Lan exceeded Lin Ziyou's standards for a partner in every respect.
But as far as Lin Ziyou was concerned, first, Jiang Lan was too blunt, and he did not like the things he said.
Second, compared with Jiang Lan, Lin Ziyou still found an alpha like Wen Zhiyan more attractive: cool and stunning on the outside, but actually highly aggressive.
Of course, the added appeal of having the mighty Wen Corporation behind him could not be ruled out.
Lin Ziyou had been ready to win Wen Zhiyan over, only to suffer defeat before his campaign had even begun.
Before he could make a move, Wen Zhiyan had rejected him.
This was clearly no small blow to Lin Ziyou's pride.
He parted his lips and asked, unwilling to accept it, "Is there something so wrong with me that you find me repulsive?"
Wen Zhiyan gave a perfunctory reply. "No. You're excellent."
Lin Ziyou understood even less, but Wen Zhiyan's attitude had temporarily robbed him of any desire to discuss it further.
He could only give a dry laugh. "What am I supposed to say? Thank you for your appreciation, President Wen?"
Wen Zhiyan did not answer him again. He simply uncovered the camera and told Lin Ziyou:
"Focus on driving."
Lin Ziyou glanced at the camera, knowing that Wen Zhiyan had clearly done that to spare him some embarrassment.
That made Lin Ziyou, who had been rather annoyed just a moment ago, feel considerably better.
He looked at the camera twice in succession, then glanced out of the corner of his eye at Wen Zhiyan's face, which never failed to attract people. There was no telling what he was thinking.
Meanwhile, the viewers, who had been left in the dark for those few short seconds, erupted.
[Holy shit!!!!! That wasn't an equipment malfunction just now! Right?!]
[Obviously it wasn't. President Wen covered it himself. Holy shit, what did they do?]
[Ziyou looks a little awkward...]
[Whoa, did President Wen really make his move that fast? What about Lan-ge?]
[Do you think that O from years ago could have been Lin Ziyou?]
[No way. Could it really be that melodramatic?]
[Guys, don't overthink it. President Wen only covered the camera for a split second. What could they have done? He probably just said something off-topic.]
[What could be so off-topic that he had to cover the camera?]
[Did they know each other before this too?]
[Seriously, though, seeing President Wen and Lin Ziyou in the same frame, even as an alpha, I actually think President Wen has the edge on looks alone. This is weird.]
[Bro, something's wrong with you. Things never end well between two As.]
[Wouldn't the pheromone repulsion kill them? Never heard of anyone being that self-destructive.]
[Mom!!!! They're cheating!!!! They covered the camera!!!!]
What happened outside the camera's view had nothing to do with the people on camera for the time being.
Lin Ziyou looked awkward throughout the drive. Only after he pulled into the parking lot outside the amusement park's entrance did he seem to recover. Lowering his head, he told Wen Zhiyan:
"I'm not a good driver. You drive on the way back."
Wen Zhiyan acted perfectly naturally, gentle and polite. "All right."
They got out of the car. Taking the ticket passes the production team had prepared, Wen Zhiyan led Lin Ziyou into the amusement park.
Lin Ziyou was still young to begin with, and he had spent the past few years busy with work, rarely visiting public places this crowded.
He had wanted to visit an amusement park but had rarely had the chance. Now, with the production team's arrangements, he went on every thrilling ride as though letting off steam.
Wen Zhiyan had no interest in any of it, but for the sake of the show, he accompanied Lin Ziyou on all the drop towers, giant pendulum rides, and roller coasters without a change in expression.
Whether Lin Ziyou was simply easygoing or had something else in mind, he even handed Wen Zhiyan his phone along the way and asked him to take pictures.
Wen Zhiyan obligingly took several photos of him at moments Lin Ziyou never expected.
When Lin Ziyou saw the photos, he was speechless. Holding up the photo gallery, he complained to the camera behind him:
"Is this what I look like? I look like I'm five feet tall and weigh a hundred and sixty-five pounds."
"Is my face really this big? In this one, my expression is so hideous I look like I'm about to transform. There are four whole crow's feet at the corner of my eye!"
"In this one, my body lines up perfectly with the pig's head outside the Water Curtain Cave."
"And this one..."
Wen Zhiyan stood behind him, looking down at him. "Do you want to take them again?"
Lin Ziyou shot him a petulant glance. "No more photos. I want some milk tea..."
Before he had even finished, Wen Zhiyan turned and walked toward a nearby milk tea shop with the fewest customers.
Lin Ziyou could only swallow the rest of his sentence: "No ice, thirty percent sugar."
And, just as expected, the milk tea Wen Zhiyan brought back had the standard amount of ice and full sugar.
Overall, Wen Zhiyan did whatever Lin Ziyou asked. There seemed to be nothing wrong with it, yet nothing was ever entirely right either.
For a while, the spectators who did not know the truth genuinely could not tell whether he was simply clueless or just not putting his heart into it.
