Whether I can go home right away all comes down to this!
You'd better come through, righteous faction!
Meanwhile, Xie Xiyi sat on the second floor of the restaurant. He glanced out into the distance and chuckled. "Immortal Alliance Leader, is this your sincerity?"
Taixuzi smiled faintly as well, his gaze roaming over Xie Xiyi all the while.
As a Tribulation Transcendence cultivator, he possessed the ability to see through falsehood and perceive truth, allowing him to see Xie Xiyi's real face beneath the mask.
No wonder he wears a mask. His face is disfigured.
Pleasure welled up in Taixuzi's heart. A Golden Core cultivator at eighteen only thanks to his family's backing, the foremost Buddhist cultivator under everyone's gaze, the designated Son of Buddha, a favored prodigy with limitless prospects-but so what? Five hundred years later, he was the one standing at the pinnacle, while Xie Xiyi was merely an insect he could crush and flatten at will.
This was what he had always wanted!
Taixuzi had reached Tribulation Transcendence at six hundred and could easily begin preparing to ascend to the Immortal Realm.
But he was unwilling. He had no longing for the Immortal Realm. Instead, like a greedy mortal emperor, he seized all the fame and profit he could. This was the dominion he had built, and he would never let go!
And Xie Xiyi was still alive. He thanked the Heavenly Dao from the bottom of his heart. This was wonderful!
Without Xie Xiyi to witness his dominion as the ruler of the three continents, his life would truly have held a great regret!
"Don't misunderstand," Taixuzi said gently. "These people are merely my guards. You used to be a mortal noble, so you ought to understand."
He spoke as though he and Xie Xiyi were well acquainted, displaying his harmlessness and sincerity toward him.
"Oh? A mortal noble?" Xie Xiyi said.
He seemed somewhat curious. "What sort of noble?"
Taixuzi feigned surprise. "You don't remember a thing? You were once the crown prince of a mortal dynasty. Whenever you went out, countless servants and guards followed you. Quite the grand procession."
"In that case, you must have been one of my servants too," Xie Xiyi said. "I hear you're now not only the sect master of the Xuanxiao Immortal Sect, but also the Immortal Alliance Leader. How enviable."
A hint of pleasure entered his voice. "Give them to me, Taixuzi. Your Xuanxiao Immortal Sect, and the Immortal Alliance. Give them all to me."
The smile vanished from Taixuzi's face. "What are you saying?"
"Don't you understand?" Xie Xiyi chuckled. "I want them-you're unwilling to give them to me? Then I'll have to take them myself."
He slowly rose to his feet, the black mist around him suddenly swelling. Though his cultivation was only at Golden Core, he radiated a terrifying aura, and Taixuzi's oppressive presence actually began to fall behind.
Taixuzi was alarmed for an instant, then immediately attacked Xie Xiyi.
In an instant, the entire restaurant was reduced to dust. This was the might of Divine Transformation, the absolute suppression of a higher cultivation realm.
Yet Xie Xiyi was completely unscathed. The black mist around him seemed to be an extremely high-grade Protective Artifact, capable of completely blocking the suppression of Divine Transformation spiritual power.
"Is this all Divine Transformation amounts to?" Xie Xiyi said. "How disappointing."
Taixuzi eyed him in shock and uncertainty. He had always believed that the eight Nascent Soul cultivators led by Yan Tongchen had suffered losses because Xie Xiyi had used some sort of trick-this was also his longstanding prejudice against Xie Xiyi. Five hundred years ago, when they had cultivated Buddhism together, Xie Xiyi had been particularly fond of underhanded moves and petty tricks, bringing all the imperial machinations favored by mortal dynasties with him.
Thus, he had never truly asked Yan Tongchen about the details of his battle with Xie Xiyi. Only now, having come in person, did he realize how many secrets Xie Xiyi held.
A Golden Core cultivator should not have been able to see through his avatar's cultivation! Yet Xie Xiyi had done precisely that, and had blocked his full-powered Divine Transformation strike!
This again!
Malice surged through Taixuzi's heart, and he continued attacking Xie Xiyi.
Xie Xiyi dodged with ease, continuing to provoke him. "Taixuzi, that's your name, isn't it? Taixuzi, is this your strength? It's not much. Give them all to me, your sect and your Immortal Alliance. I want them. As a servant, that's the greatest contribution you can make to your master, Taixuzi."
"Impudent brat! Shut your mouth!" Taixuzi roared.
"You sounded so sincere, but the moment I ask you for something, you turn on me," Xie Xiyi said. "How disappointing."
Just then, his gaze swept across the crowd of spectators and caught sight of Chi Yu's little face. Flushed red with excitement, he kept changing positions.
Understanding dawned on Xie Xiyi. He couldn't help chuckling, and slowed his movements a little to make it easier for Chi Yu to capture clear footage.
Every runic chain on his body surged out, striking at Taixuzi.
Alarmed, Taixuzi did not dare confront them at all. He traveled ten thousand miles in an instant, evading those eerie, unpredictable black chains. Though he had retreated in fear, he cared deeply about appearances, and his powerful voice rang out like a voice from heaven. "Demon, follow me if you want to fight! Don't harm the innocent!"
"That's how hypocrites are," Xie Xiyi said with a smile. "Unfortunately, it's always the hypocrites who live more happily in this world."
With that, he followed Taixuzi at a leisurely pace.
Below, the spectators chattered excitedly. "The alliance leader is looking out for us!"
"As expected of the Immortal Alliance Leader!"
"That demon dared provoke our alliance leader. He's dead for sure!"
"A mere ant dares compete with the bright moon! Show him what death means, Alliance Leader!"
Chi Yu: "..."
What nostalgic classics.
Chi Yu looked at the scant footage he had recorded. What else could he do? Chase after them and keep recording.
If the villain was killed by the righteous faction, this footage would be useless.
If the righteous faction was killed by the villain, wouldn't that be perfect? The footage would come in handy again.

Taixuzi lured Xie Xiyi into a great formation.
He secretly rejoiced, only for Xie Xiyi to land and pace about nonchalantly. "What formation is this? Is this your trump card?"
Taixuzi's expression turned cold, and malice erupted in his heart-
Xie Xiyi, he always looks so unruffled, as though he has everything under control!
Even with his memories lost, even remembering nothing! He's still the same!
Disgusting! So disgusting! I want to destroy him! Trample him underfoot forever!
Taixuzi's voice rang out. "If you knew it was a formation, why did you dare follow me?"
Xie Xiyi laughed, his voice full of delight. "Why wouldn't I? There's nothing in this world I wouldn't dare do. Taixuzi, how pitiful. What will you do if your trump card doesn't work?"
"It's only a split soul, but if it dies, your true body will be severely injured too, won't it? Taixuzi, you're finished. Once your split soul falls into my hands, you've lost completely."
He threatened him in vague terms, and Taixuzi took the bait. "Xie Xiyi, don't get cocky!" he snapped.
He swept his sleeve, and the formation activated at once.
Time and
space
were forbidden domains, difficult to reproduce with present-day runes and formations. But the Immortal Alliance commanded the wealth and cultivation resources of three continents, so naturally, it could glean a little of their secrets.
The formation shone with golden light as it activated. Golden chains surged out of it, binding Xie Xiyi tightly within. Buddhist chants echoed through the great formation, and time and space warped inside it. The plants on the ground withered in an instant, then grew back out of the soil. The boundary between life and death blurred, and the laws of the Dao faintly emerged.
Xie Xiyi's half-month cycle flitted past within the formation like fleeting light and shadow. All his memories of Chi Yu faded away as well, as though he had returned to the day he crawled out of the Nine Nether Dark River.
Taixuzi's faintly smug voice reached him. "Xie Xiyi, you are my servant, Taixuzi's servant. You are a menial disciple of the Xuanxiao Immortal Sect on Wangxian Continent, human livestock belonging to the Immortal Alliance. Sign this contract now, and I will release you from the formation."
A scroll shimmering with golden light flew before Xie Xiyi.
Xie Xiyi looked at the contract and chuckled. "How marvelous-"
He looked up toward where Taixuzi was, his tone innocent. "But I can't read."
Author's note:
1: He's forgotten everything, so there's nothing wrong with being unable to read, right?
Chapter 21: Dare to Compete with Long Aotian at Throwing Money Around?
Taixuzi did not suspect anything. Cultivators who lost their hearts lost most of their basic knowledge, making it difficult for them to continue cultivating.
Even if Xie Xiyi had encountered an extraordinary opportunity, how could he possibly escape such a rule?
Pure joy rose in his heart, and he transmitted his voice. "A drop of your blood on it will also seal the contract."
Xie Xiyi held out his hand. A Qi Blade sliced his finger, and his blood welled out. But it was not golden. Instead... it was black, thick as ink, carrying an extremely ominous aura.
He dripped the black blood onto the contract and laughed merrily. "Like this?"
"Hahahahaha, exactly! Like that! You signed it!" Taixuzi said. "From now on, you're my servant! You must bow your head and submit to me! Do you understand?"
"I don't understand," Xie Xiyi said.
His tone was leisurely. "Why should I bow my head and submit to you? You should be my servant."
Taixuzi froze. Before his very eyes, the contract flashed with golden light and flew toward him. He instinctively reached out to catch it, only to see that the drop of black blood had twisted the writing on the contract, making him the bound party.
In an instant, their positions were reversed.
Taixuzi blanched in horror. "You! How did you do that?! Haven't you lost your memories?"
"I do have no memories, but I'm not an idiot-hmm? You're at Divine Transformation? A split soul?" Xie Xiyi said cheerfully.
"Come here." He reached toward Taixuzi, who soon discovered that he was flying toward Xie Xiyi against his will.
Before long, Xie Xiyi held Taixuzi by the neck, studying him like a novel new toy. "How fascinating. So reaching Tribulation Transcendence lets you split off a Divine Transformation soul. Ha, you're rather crafty. You've only put a sliver of your Nascent Soul Spirit into this split soul."
Under Taixuzi's disbelieving gaze, he smiled faintly, his tone one of pure delight. "But it doesn't matter. Even with only a sliver of your Nascent Soul Spirit, your true body has effectively fallen into my hands."
