At eight forty that evening, Kahn and the other three headed to the secret rally on time.
Of the four, Kahn and Azula openly went without any disguises, while Lin Beifong merely took off her armor and put on everyday clothes, and already seemed like an entirely different person.
Tenzin, however, not only had to remove his conspicuous Air Nomad clothing, but also used both a wig and a hat to conceal the arrow tattoo on his head. Gloves covered the arrow tattoos on the backs of his hands, too. He was armed to the teeth, so to speak, and felt thoroughly uncomfortable.
Seeing this, Lin Beifong mocked him:
"I told you you weren't suited to this. There isn't a more conspicuous target in all of Republic City."
At her words, Tenzin forcibly suppressed his discomfort and feigned composure:
"I just need a little time to adjust, that's all. It's nothing serious."
"Hmph. Still putting on a brave face."
Tenzin said nothing more. He turned to look around, his expression grave:
"There seem to be far more people attending this rally than I expected."
They were already approaching the rally venue. Streams of people were converging on it from every direction, and a casual sweep of Tenzin's gaze took in dozens upon dozens of people. It was hard to imagine how many there were in total.
On this subject, Lin Beifong also grew serious and said:
"That's right. We seem to have underestimated this wave the Equalists have stirred up."
"All right, ladies and gentlemen, take this seriously. Right now, you're not a police chief and a councilman. You're followers of the Equalists, understood?"
Azula interrupted their conversation to remind them.
When it came to acting, she took it seriously.
The rally venue did not look very large from outside.
