Even Tang Fangjing's father noticed something was wrong and asked, "Xiaojing, are your eyes all right?"
Tang Fangjing forced a smile. "They're fine. I got sand in them."
Xia Zhi couldn't help laughing. "Auntie's house must really be dusty, if Tangtang can get sand in her eyes out of nowhere."
Did she take her for an idiot?
Seeing that Xia Zhi wouldn't let the matter drop, Lu Heng reached over with his chopsticks and tapped the edge of her bowl. "Eat."
Having been warned, someone instantly became as docile as a cat.
"Mm, you eat too, honey."
Seeing the looks the two exchanged, Tang Fangjing grew so angry that her eyes reddened further. She stamped her foot and ran back to her room.
After dinner, Tang Fangjing's father wanted Lu Heng to play another round with him, but Lu Heng politely declined.
"Uncle, it's getting late. We should head home."
Tang Fangjing's father didn't insist and got up to see them off. The young couple had already reached the door when Tang Fangjing called them back.
"Brother Heng, wait."
Lu Heng turned to look at Tang Fangjing.
Looking shy and timid, Tang Fangjing said, "Brother Heng, have some tea before you go."
Without waiting for his reply, she ran back to her room. "Mom, keep Brother Heng here for me."
Xia Zhi secretly rolled her eyes. Only Lu Heng? Was she invisible?
Hmph, hmph, hmph.
She wanted to see what tricks Tang Green Tea could pull.
Before long, Tang Fangjing emerged from her room.
She wore a wide-sleeved hanfu. That style...
Looked familiar.
Xia Zhi remembered. The young woman who had performed the tea ceremony at the birthday banquet had worn this very outfit. But that girl had fair skin and a slender waist, which made her look especially ethereal.
Tang Fangjing, on the other hand, looked rather like an ugly imitation of a beauty.
"Tangtang, are you going to perform a tea ceremony for us?"
Tang Fangjing looked shyly at Lu Heng. It was her first time dressing like this, and she felt rather awkward. "Brother Heng, do I look nice in this?"
Lu Heng smiled. "Not bad."
Tang Fangjing nervously clutched her skirt. "Xia Xia told me you like watching tea ceremonies. I've just learned how to brew tea."
"Can I make you a cup?"
Lu Heng raised an eyebrow. He liked watching tea ceremonies?
"All right."
And so, under Tang Fangjing's enthusiastic invitation, the young couple was forced to sit through a tea ceremony riddled with mistakes. Lu Heng even had to spare her feelings by finishing his tea and praising her brewing.
Since Lu Heng had been drinking, Xia Zhi drove on the way home.
Whenever she thought of Tang Fangjing trying so hard to please Lu Heng only to embarrass herself again and again, she couldn't help laughing. As she laughed, her hands even left the steering wheel.
"Xia Zhi!"
Lu Heng sternly warned Xia Zhi again.
"Pay attention when you're driving."
He truly regretted letting this woman drive. He should have hired a designated driver.
Xia Zhi was in a good mood and didn't mind being yelled at. "Got it, Brother Heng."
She even affected Tang Fangjing's manner of addressing Lu Heng.
Lu Heng was speechless.
This woman.
But for his own safety, he swallowed his anger for the moment. Only after they got home did he start settling accounts with Xia Zhi.
"When did I ever tell you I liked watching tea ceremonies?"
"Have you been doing all sorts of bad things in my name?"
Xia Zhi looked utterly innocent. "You don't like them?"
"When I sent you that video of the girl performing a tea ceremony, you didn't say you disliked it."
Lu Heng said, "...I never said I liked it, either."
He simply hadn't wanted to respond to her at the time.
Remembering Tang Fangjing's expression when she saw the set of cups Lu Heng had given her, Xia Zhi laughed so hard her stomach nearly cramped. "Hahaha, those cups..."
"Ah-!"
Xia Zhi missed her footing and toppled backward.
Just as she was about to fall and end up bruised and battered, Lu Heng reacted swiftly, catching her and pulling her steady.
Looking at the little woman, whose face had gone as white as paper with fright, Lu Heng sneered.
"That's what you call joy turning to sorrow."
Then he let go of Xia Zhi and went to work in his study.
Before long, Lu Heng received a message and a set of photos from Tang Fangjing. They were the same photos Zhou Chijun had sent him before. Lu Heng frowned slightly and replied coolly with three words.
-I've seen them.
Tang Fangjing had never imagined that Lu Heng had already seen these photos. Wasn't he angry?
It seemed she understood Lu Heng less and less these days.
Lu Heng slept in the guest room for several days in a row. Aunt Liu was so worried that she couldn't help stopping Xia Zhi to ask.
"Second Young Madam, have you and Second Young Master had a falling-out?"
"Why aren't you sharing a room anymore?"
Xia Zhi waved dismissively. "Aheng is busy with work. I understand."
Aunt Liu worried herself sick. "Being busy with work is no reason not to sleep in his own room. Second Young Madam, I think you should take the initiative."
Xia Zhi thought, Take what initiative? Your Second Young Master isn't interested in women at all.
Although that was what she thought, she could only nod to keep Aunt Liu from continuing to nag in her ear.
"All right, all right. I'll take the initiative tonight."
But that night, Xia Zhi fell asleep while playing on her phone.
After finishing his work, Lu Heng noticed that the light was still on in Xia Zhi's room. It was almost one. What was this woman doing up so late?
He went over to take a look, only to find that Xia Zhi was already asleep and had simply forgotten to turn off the light.
Xia Zhi had planned to seduce the main villain that day. After all, the original owner of her body was so beautiful that she could still challenge that "frail boy who couldn't take care of himself" and see if she could turn the main villain straight.
So she had dressed especially sexily that day.
An exquisite beauty lay on the gray-brown checked bedsheet.
The woman wore a lotus-pink dudou on top, while her little panties were tied with pink ribbons. She looked as beautiful as an exquisitely wrapped gift waiting to be opened.
Lu Heng's gaze slid from the woman's face all the way down to her waist.
That waist, so slender he could span it with a hand, made his fingers itch.
Lu Heng was the kind of person who acted on his thoughts, so he closed his hand around her waist. Her incredibly smooth skin stirred an urge to ravage her.
And so Lu Heng reached out and gave her a hard pinch.
The sleeping woman seemed to find it ticklish. Giggling, she turned over with her back to Lu Heng, and the enticing glimpse she unwittingly revealed drew his gaze even more.
When Xia Zhi woke the next morning, the back of her head hurt a little, as though someone had hit it with a hammer.
Opening her eyes groggily, Xia Zhi couldn't help letting out a puzzled sound. Why was she sleeping on the floor?
She must have accidentally fallen off during the night.
Suspecting nothing, Xia Zhi felt around and climbed back onto the bed.
But wait, why was her pillow warm?
Xia Zhi focused her eyes. The m-m-main villain?
When had he gotten into her bed?
Had she successfully seduced him last night?
Why didn't she remember any of it?
Had she seduced him?
Xia Zhi felt as though her memory had gone blank. Had she? Hadn't she?
The man lay motionless on the bed, clearly undisturbed by Xia Zhi's movements.
Just then, the first rays of morning light shone through a gap in the curtains, slowly creeping up the beauty's arm at the head of the bed and casting a dappled glow.
Xia Zhi gazed at the sleeping man. With his eyes closed, the main villain's oppressive air had receded. Even his good looks seemed less aggressive, leaving him looking handsome and harmless.
Perhaps this man was only at his safest when he was asleep.
