At the foot of Mount Tai, a golden figure appeared before Lirui'en and the others.
It was Mishang, a personal guard of the Divine Court.
Half a year had passed.
When Mishang looked at Lirui'en again, he found that the middle-aged man was very different from half a year ago.
His hair was disheveled, his face ashen, and his armor covered in dust; even his golden cloak was dusty and dull.
It was clear that Lirui'en had not moved a single step in the past half year.
Behind him, the three young men looked much the same, all dusty and bedraggled. None of the splendor of members of the Knights could be seen in them.
Yet their eyes were as clear and bright as daylight, as though Gods had taken up residence within.
Their blood and vitality were like withered wood, yet their wills were like the morning star!
Mishang nodded inwardly.
He knew that His Majesty Haotian valued the cultivation of will above all else. A powerful will was the foundation of everything!
Power could be gained through cultivation, while will could transcend the shackles of power.
It seemed that their experiences over the past half year had indeed tempered their willpower.
At this thought, an idea suddenly sprang into Mishang's mind.
Perhaps I should have them kneel for another few years?
Just as his thoughts were wandering, the middle-aged knight Lirui'en, kneeling on the ground, raised his head hopefully and asked in a hoarse voice.
"Lord Mishang, has Lord Yusheng agreed to grant us an audience?"
Mishang gave a cold snort and said.
"Hmph, follow me. Lord Yusheng wishes to see you!"
At these words, the faces of Lirui'en and his three companions instantly lit up with surprise and joy.
They exchanged glances and thanked him in unison.
