When Lan Qin and Jiang Wang returned to the Sea of Clouds with the people they had found over the past few years, they discovered that the former site of Yunhai City's large refuge camp had been reduced to ruins.
Only after finding a few survivors nearby and questioning them did they learn that half a year earlier, a Fallen World creature from elsewhere had breached Yunhai City's refuge camp.
The people in the refuge had scattered to more remote places. Rather than establishing another unified, large-scale refuge camp, they had set up camps of varying sizes.
Among them, the camp with Yunhai University as its backbone and core was currently the largest. It had gathered over a hundred thousand people and stood on the southwestern edge of Yunhai's urban area.
Jiang Wang and Lan Qin brought the others back there and did not venture out again for several years.
Their return greatly strengthened the humans of Yunhai City, and Jiang Wang and the others were powerful enough to defeat the few monsters currently in the city.
Thus, by defeating them one by one, the people finally reclaimed all of Yunhai City over the course of a year.
After reclaiming the Sea of Clouds, Jiang Wang, Lan Qin, Pei Lanji, and the others became the de facto rulers of Yunhai University's refuge camp by virtue of their superior strength.
Once Yunhai City had been cleared, Jiang Wang consolidated all the human forces in the city and began opening routes to the outside world.
And so, twenty years passed, and humanity's strength grew considerably.
Yunhai City built walls on all four sides and had largely opened roads to cities in all four directions, becoming the second city in the East after Kyoto to do so.
