Background and Prophecy

The Heavenly Sword Prophecy originated after the Myriad Swords Calamity. A Sword Spirit Clan expert skilled in divination obtained it at the cost of his life. It foretold a figure who would command the submission of all swords, stand above heaven, and lead the clan to unprecedented glory at the pinnacle of the universe 1672.

The clan initially believed the prophecy might refer to the Sword God King. Chu Kuangren’s exceptional strength and perfection of the Myriad Phenomena Sword Art later prompted its elders to reconsider. Unable to read his fate, the Sword God King recommended testing whether he could draw Wu Dao from Ten Thousand Swords Peak 1672.

Wu Dao’s acknowledgment of Chu Kuangren convinced the clan that he was the Heavenly Sword. The text explicitly distinguishes the two: Wu Dao is a sword, while the Heavenly Sword is the person expected to lead the clan 1675.

Appearance

• Clothing and features: White robes, sword-like brows, star-bright eyes, and a transcendent bearing 1679 1715.
• Signature weapon: The pitch-black, outwardly unremarkable Wu Dao; its appearance alone identifies his return to the Tianyuan Divine Hall 1775.
• Concealed strength: After emerging from seclusion, his aura appears almost imperceptibly weak to ordinary observers, while stronger spectators sense the power beneath it 1842 1976.

Personality

As the Heavenly Sword, Chu Kuangren adopts an imperious manner, refers to himself as “Heaven,” and treats challenges as requests for his attention. He privately recognizes that playing the role has become addictive, with arrogant declarations coming increasingly naturally 1680 1700.

His confidence does not prevent him from helping others improve. He warns Luo Xue against abandoning her established Sword Dao, then spars with her for two hours without being injured. His willingness to cultivate a potential opponent earns his followers’ admiration 1700 1706.

He is also calculating about loyalty. When Luo Yunxiu offers to murder his adoptive father for power, Chu Kuangren regards him as useful but fundamentally untrustworthy, refusing to entrust him with authority 1911 1912.

His swordsmanship establishes him as a concrete ideal for cultivators such as Luo Xue, rather than an abstract pinnacle to pursue 1700.

An offensive sword technique with multiple documented forms 1877 1885.

• Emperor Conquers Eternity: Combines an emperor’s hegemony aura with Dao laws, producing sword qi that silently collapses the void 1877.
• Heaven’s Prison: Identified as another form of Heaven’s Witness 1885.

His Dao Integration breakthrough introduces a Dao belonging to him alone, outside the Tianyuan Universe’s established myriad Daos 1863.

• Sword Spirit Clan Leader — Promotes his recognition as the Heavenly Sword. Later unwittingly gives God King Tianji information that threatens to expose him 1675 1991.
• Gu Qingshan — Rival claimant who declares himself the true Heavenly Sword and insists Wu Dao should have belonged to him. His awakening causes the clan to question Chu Kuangren’s identity 1766.
• Ling Fei and Han Xingyu — Devoted followers whose faith in his supremacy strengthens after witnessing his advancement. Han Xingyu also carries Wu Dao for him 1694 1756.
