Background / History

Two years before enrollment, Koenji entered an open-weight tournament at Ken Kaneki’s combat sports gym to prove the perfection of his physique. He defeated successive opponents and reached the final, where Kaneki countered his attacks and knocked him into the octagon’s fence. Rather than resent the defeat, Koenji praised Kaneki’s strength, became a regular at the gym, and developed a friendship with him 2.
