| Occupation/Role | Student; Class D strategist and representative; Student Council member 11 25 29 |
| Family | Horikita Manabu — older brother and former Student Council president 25 38 |
| Goal | Graduate from Class A 38 40 |
Appearance
- Short hair: Suzune has her hair cut short on the evening after a lengthy private conversation with Manabu following his graduation ceremony 38.
Personality
Suzune is proud, blunt, and focused on results. She rejects Ryuuen’s attempts to provoke her into revealing information, but responds harshly when classmates attack her competence. After the cruise-ship exam, she calls Yamauchi and students like him “parasites,” while acknowledging how difficult Lezheng is to face 22.
Her practical approach frequently clashes with her classmates’ priorities. She secures support for a sports-festival plan by offering compensation to students asked to sacrifice their own results. Her conflict with Hirata is later described as a clash between idealism and realism, with many of Class D’s girls becoming hostile toward her 25 35. Even after Sudo wins a basketball match, she immediately points out that the class has already lost the overall exam, drawing criticism for discouraging him 42.
Around Manabu, her confidence gives way to embarrassment and anxiety. She struggles to speak freely in his presence and asks Lezheng to obtain information she is too embarrassed to request herself. Although she worries about Nagumo targeting her brother, she fears that concern from someone in Class D would humiliate him 11 25 29.

Strategy and Exam Planning
Suzune helps formulate Class D’s competitive plans and negotiates with students from other classes 25 38 40.
- Incentives: Offers 5,000 Private Points to each student making a sacrifice under her sports-festival strategy, overcoming opposition to the proposal 25.
- Information security: Requests that Class A’s roster be shared only with her and warns Lezheng about Kushida 25.
- Opponent assessment: Initially rejects basketball as a main event because Lezheng’s physical abilities make sports dangerous choices for Class D 38.
- Tactical cooperation: Understands Ayanokoji’s proposal to use an obscure event to draw out Lezheng, improving Sudo’s chances in basketball 40.
- Limitations: Relies on Ayanokoji’s assistance at critical moments, and her tactless communication repeatedly undermines classmates’ support 11 39 40 42.
Debate and Representation
Suzune represents Class D during the hearings concerning Sudo’s fight with three Class C students 11.
- Argues firmly enough to keep the opposing accounts deadlocked when neither side has decisive evidence 11.
- Initially becomes uneasy before Manabu and only takes the offensive after a prompt from Ayanokoji 11.
- Falls silent when the teachers propose a compromise suspending Sudo for two weeks, recognizing that her side has reached its limit 11.
Athletics
Suzune is counted among the most athletic first-year girls, alongside Kamuro and Ibuki 26.
- Reaches the girls’ 100-meter final at the sports festival 26.
- Runs the fourth leg of the mixed-gender relay, receiving the baton after Ayanokoji and passing it to Kamuro 26.
- Continues to the handoff despite a painful right-leg injury sustained in a collision 26.
- Illness severely limits her during the deserted-island exam; she collapses while pursuing Ibuki 19.
Knife Skills
Suzune demonstrates considerable proficiency when representing Class D in the Command Tower Exam’s Knife Skills event 41.
- Competes in a one-on-one contest judged by how evenly ingredients are cut 41.
- Is described as clearly experienced, unlike Kamuro, who has only received a short period of preparation 41.
Relationships
- Horikita Manabu — Older brother whose opinion strongly affects her. She is embarrassed to approach him directly, but later speaks with him privately after his graduation and resolves to graduate from Class A herself 25 29 38.
- Ayanokoji — Classmate and behind-the-scenes collaborator. He assists her during the hearings and develops the obscure-event strategy for the Command Tower Exam. Suzune offers to act publicly on his behalf if he helps her reach Class A; he gives no answer 11 40.
- Lezheng Youyan — Cross-class contact and Student Council colleague. He coordinates sports-festival arrangements with her, accepts her Council application, and recruits her into his plan against Nagumo 25 28 33.
- Sudo — Classmate she defends during the hearings and later includes in exam planning. His excitement over winning basketball clashes with her focus on their overall defeat 11 38 42.
- Hirata — Fellow Class D organizer whose ideals conflict with her pragmatism. Their disagreement contributes to hostility toward her within the class 26 35.
- Kushida Kikyo — Classmate Suzune distrusts enough to warn Lezheng about. Kushida privately enjoys attacks on Suzune and later thinks of dealing with her before targeting Karuizawa 25 39 44.
- Ryuuen Kakeru — Rival who repeatedly taunts her and calls her by her first name despite her objections. He also reports her alleged involvement in the surveillance-camera scheme 12 22.
- Ibuki — Rival following the deserted-island exam. Suzune pursues her after the Leader Card theft, and their mutual hostility remains evident at the sports festival 19 26.
- Ichinose Honami — Fellow Student Council recruit. Their classes organize a joint study group before both attend their first Council meeting 27 29.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Sudo’s Hearings
Suzune serves as Class D’s advocate in the dispute over Sudo’s fight with three Class C students. Initially restless before Manabu, she begins arguing after Ayanokoji intervenes. With neither side able to prove its account, the hearing is postponed, and the subsequent proposed compromise leaves Sudo facing the longer suspension 11.
Ryuuen then accuses Suzune, Ayanokoji, and Ichinose of illegally installing a surveillance camera to pressure the Class C students into withdrawing their complaint. The recording and purchase-history checks fail to provide decisive proof, and the Student Council postpones its decision 12.
Deserted-Island and Cruise-Ship Exams
During the deserted-island exam, Lezheng notices Suzune’s poor condition and suspects she is Class D’s leader. When Ibuki starts a fire and steals the Leader Card, Suzune gives chase but collapses from illness. Ayanokoji carries her back toward camp 18 19.
In the subsequent group exam, Suzune recognizes Ryuuen’s taunting as an attempt to extract information and refuses to cooperate. Following Class D’s poor result, Yamauchi challenges her claims of being comparable to Class A; she retaliates verbally before leaving the confrontation 22.
Sports Festival
Suzune negotiates a compensated-sacrifice strategy within Class D and coordinates confidentially with Lezheng. During their discussion, she also asks him to find out whether Manabu will compete in the mixed relay 25.
She reaches the girls’ sprint final and later runs in the relay. A runner stumbles toward her from the left; when Suzune dodges right, she collides with another runner and injures her right leg. Although tempted to abandon the race, she sees Manabu watching and continues far enough to pass the baton to Kamuro 26.
Student Council and Mixed Training Camp
Lezheng selects Suzune and Ichinose from Manabu’s recruitment candidates. Suzune’s application is accepted after an interview, and she subsequently introduces herself at her first Student Council meeting 27 28 29.
During the mixed training camp, Lezheng persuades her to help tamper with Asahina’s group’s food as part of his plan against Nagumo. After the exam, Lezheng explicitly tells Manabu that Suzune deserves some credit for the intervention 33 34. By Valentine’s Day, Karuizawa reports that Suzune has been unusually excited, which Lezheng attributes to Manabu 35.
Manabu’s Graduation
Suzune waits outside the auditorium after Manabu’s graduation ceremony, and the siblings speak privately for a long time. Their conversation is not disclosed. She cuts her hair short that evening and, when the third-years leave a week later, renews her determination to graduate from Class A 38.
Command Tower Exam
Facing Class A, Suzune gathers information about classmates’ niche skills and works with Ayanokoji on a strategy built around obscure events. His proposal aims to commit Lezheng to another contest, leaving Sudo a better opportunity to win basketball 39 40.
Suzune represents Class D in Knife Skills against Kamuro. Later, her frustrated reaction to Lezheng facing Matsushita draws objections from Karuizawa and Kushida. Sudo eventually wins basketball narrowly, but Class A has already secured the overall victory. Suzune’s blunt response to Sudo’s celebration triggers another argument among her classmates 41 42.
New Deserted-Island Exam
When students discuss cooperation for the next island exam, Suzune argues that it appears to be a competition between school years rather than simply between classes. Later, she sends Lezheng a meeting invitation at Ayanokoji’s request; Ayanokoji, rather than Suzune, awaits him at the park 49.
