"Why aren't you staying home and resting instead of running all over the place?" At the dining table, seeing that Dahlia and a certain bad influence of a friend had already started discussing some of his embarrassing history, Nick irritably forced a change of subject.
Hancock widened his eyes, looking wounded. "It's bad enough you didn't pick me up from the hospital, but now you're going to back out of your promise to take care of all three of my meals, too?"
Nick slapped his forehead, suddenly remembering the promise he had made to him at the hospital.
The guy had played the pity card back then. He had only suffered minor fractures in two ribs, yet he had acted as though he were at death's door. Considering that he really had been injured while accompanying him on an assignment, Nick had softened and agreed to cook him a few days' worth of meals while he recovered after his discharge.
But Nick really couldn't be blamed for this. Although Hancock had only spent two nights in the hospital, for Nick, that had happened six months ago.
Next time, before heading into a movie world, I need to write down anything important so I don't forget. He made a mental note of it.
"I'll go to the market later and buy some beef bones to make soup. But I never agreed to take care of all three of your meals. Go home and stay in bed. I'll bring dinner over this evening."
Seeing that his partner had finished eating, Nick unceremoniously showed him the door.
Hancock readily got up to leave. Compared with his own minor injuries, the fact that a certain someone had brought a girl home for the night was much bigger news. He couldn't wait to share it.
