[Ah... what's wrong with Vivian? She looks a little sad.]
[Maybe the sight reminded her of her own child... Our rich lady used to have a baby. The photos were adorable, but the baby was stolen by traffickers. She's been searching for years. She didn't become a blogger to flaunt her wealth, either. She wanted to raise her profile this way so more people would see her missing-child notices and know she had money, and that they'd get a generous reward for helping her find her baby. Anyone who's followed her for a while knows about this.]
[Oh, no wonder she's so sad.]
[That poor little ghost was drowned because he had a disability. If his parents had just gotten proper prenatal checkups, how could this have happened?]
[Not everyone can afford prenatal checkups, can they?]
[So they couldn't afford prenatal checkups but could afford to raise a child? What a joke.]
[Waaah, look, that little horse hasn't moved at all. The little ghost must be looking really closely at the first gift he's ever received, right?]
[That Hermès horse costs several thousand, and she just gave it away? Rich people really do use a different monetary system from me.]
[What? That's just alarmist nonsense!]
"All right, go back into the gourd and take your time playing," Qi Gu told Green Ghost.
Green Ghost vanished on the spot, taking the little horse with him.
Vivian gazed at the gourd hanging from Qi Gu's waist, still wanting more. "I'd like to give him some more toys later. Can we exchange contact information?"
Qi Gu didn't much like adding strangers to his contacts, but Vivian was a good person with merit to her name. Judging by her face, she ought to have had a happy, harmonious family, so he took her phone and entered a string of numbers.
Mu Xingchen hurriedly raised his hand. "Master, me too!"
[Ah, Qi Gu, please bear with our silly darling Xingchen. I think he's completely hooked on your skills. A kid's adolescent fantasy phase is so hard to get through.]
[Yes, yes, please bear with him. If anyone insults you again, I'll insult them right back for you!]
Adding two was no different from adding one, so Qi Gu gave Mu Xingchen his contact information too. Once he finished, he was about to enter room six when a slender hand with well-defined knuckles held a phone with its screen lit up in front of him.
"I'd like it too." Lin Hanzhi blinked his alluring, peach-blossom eyes. "I thought all the snacks you shared with me were delicious. I'd like a list."
His words clearly hit the mark, striking Qi Gu squarely in his peculiar vanity.
Ever since he was little, Qi Gu had loved being praised for his taste in snacks!
"Sure! I'll send it to you as soon as we get out!" A trace of a smile even appeared on Qi Gu's aloof face, as happy as when he was eating.
[Now that's flattery that really hit the spot. I watched Qi Gu's expression go from "don't mess with me" to pure and innocent...]
[Hahahaha, the comment above nailed it!]
[Got it. If you want to get close to Qi Gu, just talk about snacks.]
After adding everyone, Qi Gu pushed open the door to room six and entered.
Room six was rectangular, with an enormous shelving unit on either side. Each unit had five tiers, with several glass display cases on each tier.
Room six was extraordinarily quiet. Not only was there no dust anywhere, even the glass cases were spotless.
It was practically... as though someone had just come in and cleaned!
Sha Chuan decided to regain some dignity here, so he plucked up his courage and stepped forward first to inspect the shelves. Having been in use for some time, the emergency glow stick was no longer as bright as before. He had to hold it extremely close to the glass cases to see what was inside.
"Ah!" Sha Chuan let out a short scream, then crumpled to the floor and scrambled backward on all fours.
"What's wrong?" Mu Xingchen asked.
"The case... there's an entire human scalp in the case!" Sha Chuan said, his voice trembling.
Startled by his words, everyone looked toward the shelves.
As the camera moved from one end to the other, everyone grew more terrified the more they saw.
The glass cases on the first tier actually contained human tissue specially treated to prevent decay!
Whole bloodstained fingernails, hair still attached to scalps, and eyes in jars of formalin.
Farther down were bloodstained school uniforms, tracksuits, short-sleeved shirts... and down jackets. The third tier held trousers, and the fourth held pairs of shoes in varying sizes and styles.
Looking from left to right, the final tier held neatly arranged identity cards.
They counted as many as ten!
[My scalp is crawling, aaaaaah!]
[So what's going on here? Are these props?]
[Doesn't look like it... especially those identity cards. They look almost exactly like real ones. Forging identity cards is illegal!]
[So has the production crew just broken into a serial killer's trophy room???]
[Call the police! Hurry up and call the police, aaaaaah!]
[The shot went by too fast for me to see clearly, but I keep thinking one of those identity cards looked a bit like my missing classmate...]
"Th-these aren't things the props team set up too, are they?" Mu Xingchen's face was deathly pale.
"Call the police." Having roughly pieced together what had happened from what he saw, Qi Gu closed his eyes, his voice calm.
Vivian was badly frightened too, trembling so much that she couldn't get her phone out.
In the end, Lin Hanzhi said, "I'll do it."
His face was already pale to begin with. No matter how frightened he was now, it couldn't get any paler.
Suddenly, a wind rose in the room. A piece of stiff paper blew down from the air, landing right in front of Qi Gu. He lightly caught it between his fingertips and lowered his eyes to look.
It was the final missing puzzle piece.
At the sight of this piece of the face, Vivian and several of the older camera operators grew grave and frightened.
Quite a few viewers in the livestream also recognized the true identity of the person in the puzzle.
[It's Diao Huaqing! The murderer in Birch City twenty years ago who killed his wife and daughter over an argument, then went to the police station to report them missing like nothing had happened!]
[God! Why is there a photo of him here? My hair's standing on end!]
[If I remember right, Diao Huaqing went on the run back then. So he's been committing murders in this abandoned clinic for the past twenty years???]
[I'm easily scared, don't frighten me, aaaaaah!]
[Look behind the door. Is there a little red dot blinking there?]
Seemingly noticing something, Lin Hanzhi suddenly walked toward the door. Qi Gu followed his gaze and saw a miniature camera on the door, its red indicator light blinking.
A belated thought struck everyone present, sending a chill through their hearts.
The murderer might be watching them from behind that camera at this very moment!
That meant Diao Huaqing might very well flee again before the police could catch him, then hide somewhere unknown and silently select more victims from the crowd!
Lin Hanzhi pulled down the camera along with its wire. The indicator light blinked twice, then went dark.
Seeing that he had done what Qi Gu himself had wanted to do, Qi Gu turned to the livestream camera. "He lives in building five of Begonia Residential Community on Magnolia Street in Lotus Town... I can't divine anything more specific. Tell the police for me, and hurry!"
Diao Huaqing didn't know they already had his exact address. He would likely pack his valuables before fleeing, buying the police time to go there and arrest him.
This divination was too specific and went against fate, consuming far too much energy. Qi Gu's lips instantly turned pale and flaky, and cold sweat seeped from his temples.
Qi Gu swayed and staggered back a step.
He fell straight into Lin Hanzhi's arms.
He had thought the impact would knock Lin Hanzhi backward along with him. Unexpectedly, the frail Lin Hanzhi had some strength after all and supported him steadily.
"Thanks."
Qi Gu's voice was barely a breath.
