Background

Xiao Wu originally lived in the Star Dou Great Forest. Her mother, another Soft Bone Rabbit, died protecting her from Spirit Hall. Memories of that protection remain central to Xiao Wu’s response to familial affection and maternal kindness 31 74.

After reaching hundred-thousand-year cultivation, Xiao Wu took human form and began cultivating her soul power anew. Although her cultivation restarted, she retained formidable combat instincts and innate Soft Techniques 20 70.

Her identity makes life among humans dangerous. Ordinary Soul Masters cannot readily identify her, but early in the story a Titled Douluo can see through her disguise. Tang Tian delays their departure from Nuoding partly because he wants sufficient strength to protect her 68 69.

Appearance

  • Build and face: Initially appears as a small, delicate girl with large, lustrous eyes and a doll-like face 18.
  • Hair: Wears her long hair in a scorpion braid, which she also uses in combat 18 19.
  • Clothing: Commonly wears pink, including the plain pink outfit she wears for her Heaven Dou admission match 18 99.
  • Accessories: Introduced with bunny-ear decorations; later adds Tang Tian’s carrot hair clip to her braid 18 28.
  • Expressions: Has two dimples when she smiles 28.

Personality

Xiao Wu is playful, competitive, and eager to establish herself as “Sister Xiao Wu.” She enjoys fighting and immediately becomes excited when Tang San proves to be a capable opponent. Her preferred solution to combat is direct: close the distance and send someone flying with a kick 19 57.

She readily uses an innocent expression to disguise mischief. Her explanations for obtaining soul rings become increasingly implausible, and she enjoys teasing arrogant opponents before defeating them. Her Lightning Marten story even causes Dean Zhang to order a search of Back Mountain for dangerous beasts 70 71 99 102.

Beneath her carefree behavior, Xiao Wu deeply values safety, trust, and belonging. Tang Tian’s refusal to gamble with Tang San’s welfare moves her because it recalls the protection she once received from her mother. Learning about the brothers’ soul-beast heritage gives her a sense of refuge in the human world 31 72.

Her affection for Tang Tian is physically demonstrative and often possessive. She hugs him, clings to his arm, and becomes jealous when other girls approach him. During the Dugu Yan incident, that jealousy gives way to a more vulnerable question: whether Tang Tian finds her annoying 94 154 155.

Abilities & Skills

Soft Technique

Xiao Wu’s innate fighting style combines extreme flexibility, redirection of an opponent’s strength, and sudden concentrated force. These techniques belong to her original rabbit body and do not require Soul Ring slots 57 70.

  • Waist Bow: A signature technique that she teaches Tang Tian, who masters it within days with the aid of Boneless Flexibility 70.
  • Eight-Stage Throw: A close-range throwing sequence used to defeat the Imperial Fighting Team Second Squad’s vice-captain 99.
  • Braid attacks: Uses her long braid alongside kicks during her first fight with Tang San 19.
  • Teaching: Explains flexibility, stretching, and turning an opponent’s force against them through hands-on instruction 70.

Netherworld Rabbit Shadow

Her first Soul Skill emphasizes speed, evasion, and misleading afterimages rather than a dedicated attack 39 40.

  • Produces three afterimages during her Heaven Dou admission match while her real body accelerates sharply 99.
  • Lets her evade an incoming strike and move into close range before her opponent can respond 99.
  • Supports Tang Tian’s proposed kiting strategy: avoid attacks and wear an opponent down using her existing physical techniques 40.

Teleportation

Her second Soul Skill allows genuine movement through space rather than merely high-speed movement 71 99.

  • Uses it to escape an approaching cloud of poisonous mist 99.
  • Reappears directly behind an opponent to set up a close-range attack 99.

Invincible Golden Body

Her third Soul Skill envelops her body in golden light, providing powerful defense 89 99.

  • Completely withstands the Crimson Serpent vice-captain’s corrosive poisonous mist and physical counterattack in their match 99.
  • Allows Xiao Wu to remain at close range and execute Eight-Stage Throw without retreating from that counterattack 99.

Soul-Beast Physiology and Perception

Her original cultivation provides advantages beyond her displayed human-form rank 20 173.

  • Self-condensed rings: Creates her own Soul Rings rather than needing to kill soul beasts for them 70 89.
  • Retained reserves: The Foundation Establishment Pill helps awaken power already belonging to her true body, rather than painfully remodeling her meridians as it does for Tang San 173.
  • Life-aura sensitivity: Detects changes in Tang Tian’s scent and aura, including the influence of his Blue Silver Emperor soul bone and Little Blue’s changing temperament 28 43 46.
  • Recognition of her own kind: Identifies Ah Yin’s hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor aura despite Ah Yin’s weakened condition 73.
  • Improved concealment: By her third-ring breakthrough, Tang Hao cannot identify her soul-beast nature unless she releases a trace of her essence 89.

Bond with Tang Tian

Xiao Wu is a conquest target in Tang Tian’s system. Because her original form is also her Martial Soul, winning her affection also counts as winning over that Martial Soul 103.
