Background / History
Tang Wulin was born in the Divine Realm Central Hub as the son of Tang San and Xiao Wu. Wenxin exposes that Tang San used his newborn son as bait during the Golden Dragon King’s rampage. The Golden Dragon King poured his power, bloodline, Divine Core, and soul into Wulin, leaving the child in danger of destroying himself and the Divine Realm. Tang San sealed that power and sent him to the Douluo Continent with a Divided Soul 19 25 31.
Tang Ziran and Lang Yue raised Wulin in a loving household. After his martial soul awakened, his enormous appetite strained the family’s finances, but his parents never blamed him. At Red Mountain Academy, other children mocked his eating habits, leaving him without close friends 14 16 18.
Wulin rescued three-year-old Na’er from two men and brought her home. She became his little sister and closest childhood companion. To help support the household and save for a Soul Spirit, he took up forging, promising to provide for his parents and buy Na’er food 14 15.
At nine, Wulin finally purchased a Soul Spirit, only to receive a defective one. His Golden Dragon King Bloodline erupted, and Na’er departed that same day. He searched Aolai City, their familiar meeting places, and the seaside without finding her 15.
Appearance
- Golden dragon manifestations: His right hand can become a dragon claw, while stronger transformations cover his body in golden scales and turn his pupils into vertical Dragon Eyes 14 40 42.
- Inheritance mark: A flashing golden dragon mark appears between his brows after he receives the Dragon God Inheritance 19.
- Recreated body: Wenxin forms a powerful, sturdy body enveloped in golden light and carrying the Dragon God Bloodline 35.
- Heavenly Dao form: Transforms into a golden dragon and manifests enormous crimson-gold eyes above the Undead Empire 62.
- God King future self: Appears in divine robes, surrounded by nine Divine Rings and the power of destruction 13 14.
Personality
Wulin places the people who raised and loved him above status, bloodline, or divine authority. He regards Tang Ziran and Lang Yue as his true parents and rejects the claim that biological parenthood alone deserves unquestioning loyalty. His childhood ambitions—earning money, becoming stronger, and supporting his family—lose their meaning when Wenxin reveals that his loved ones will disappear or die 15 16 17.
His younger self refuses to accept divine rules as an excuse for abandoning others. Rather than admire his future God King status, he condemns that future self for failing to restore his parents or protect Na’er. This confrontation leads him to choose a different path instead of pursuing godhood for its own sake 17 18.
Living through Huo Yuhao’s childhood makes him increasingly ruthless. Abuse, Huo Yun’er’s death, Na’er’s injuries, and Evil Electrolux’s influence turn his anger into indiscriminate killing during his initial rampage. His later ambitions extend beyond revenge toward breaking the monopolies that prevent ordinary people from becoming Soul Masters 40 43 56.
His Heavenly Dao breakthrough exposes a conflict between that protective ideal and his methods. He deliberately restrains himself while invaders slaughter his citizens because detachment brings him closer to the Dao. He ultimately cannot suppress his feelings completely, becoming Heavenly Dao only within his own empire 62.
The original future Wulin initially prioritizes his duty to protect the Divine Realm. Beneath that position, however, he carries profound guilt over his family and friends. His younger self’s pleas break his composure, and revelations of Tang San’s manipulation eventually turn him against his father 13 17 18 31.

Story Role / Major Arcs
Questioning His Original Future
Wenxin summons nine-year-old Wulin to confront the Second-Generation Destruction God King. Initially, he asks hopeful questions about Na’er, his parents, and his future friends. The God King attempts to conceal Na’er’s fate, triggering exposures that reveal her disappearance through fusion and his adoptive parents’ deaths 12 13 14 15 16.
Wulin ultimately rejects both his future self’s excuses and the prestige of godhood. He ends the inquiry early, resolves to prevent those tragedies, and receives the Dragon God Inheritance. The inquiry continues for the God King, exposing his birth and Tang San’s promise to resurrect his adoptive parents 17 18 19.
The God King’s Revolt Against Tang San
The original future Wulin first tries to stop Earthly Dao Yuhao’s invasion of the Old Divine Realm. Tang San’s confession that he manipulated Wulin and obstructed his adoptive parents’ resurrection changes his position: he follows Yuhao into the realm and later refuses to rescue its gods 25 27.
When Tang San seeks help in the New Divine Realm, Wulin stabs him with Destruction Divine Thunder. Further exposure reveals that Tang San’s Divided Soul did not preserve his adoptive parents’ souls. Wulin joins Authentic Yuhao in the ensuing divine war and helps kill Tang San, although the Great Dao announces that Tang San and the Divine Realm will be restored 31 32 37.
During Gu Yuena’s inquiry, the God King tries to reconnect with Na’er, only to realize that she recognizes the younger Wulin as her brother. He finally releases her so she can return to that brother 39 40.
Life Exchange and the White Tiger Duke’s Mansion
Wulin refuses to reclaim his original body, choosing instead to save Huo Yun’er through his own strength. Wenxin creates a new body, and he lives through Huo Yuhao’s childhood in the Peerless Era 35 40.
He escapes the White Tiger Duke’s Mansion with Huo Yun’er and later rescues Na’er from Dai Huabin’s guards. Their recapture leads to Huo Yun’er’s fatal injury and Wulin’s blood-fueled massacre under Evil Electrolux’s influence. After escaping, he faces pursuit by Shrek, the Star Luo Empire, and the White Tiger Army 40 41 42 43.
When the pursuit injures Na’er and destroys Huo Yun’er’s remains, his Dragon God power fully awakens. An Apprenticeship Heart Inquiry brings him before Authentic Yuhao. Rather than resurrect Huo Yun’er into a life shadowed by his coming revenge, he requests her reincarnation and bears the trials for her alongside Na’er 43.
Founding the Undead Empire
After an old hunter shelters Wulin and Na’er, the hunter’s killing drives Wulin to raise an undead army and carve out his own territory. His declaration against oppression earns the Heavenly Dao Halo and awakens the martial souls of his subjects 55 56.
Following Authentic Yuhao’s advice, Wulin secures support from the Sun Moon Empire. He establishes the Undead Empire and declares war on the remnants of Tang Tian’s old era 61.
The Three Great Empires and Shrek invade to destroy this challenge to their rule. Wulin achieves Consciousness Merging with the Dao within his territory, and the Undead Empire, Sun Moon Empire, and Holy Spirit Cult defeat their enemies over a year of war. The defeated powers recognize his empire, pay reparations, and surrender territory 62.
Cross-Era Cooperation
Through a connection between two Undead Worlds, Wulin meets the younger Huo Yuhao and explains his empire’s shortage of Soul Rings. They arrange to supply Soul Rings and Soul Spirits through the Soul-Containing Tower and recover them after their users’ deaths 66.
Light and Evil Electrolux subsequently agree to have Wulin’s army carry out a campaign in Douluo I. Wulin arrives with one million undead, supports Huo Yuhao’s forces against the Star Luo Empire, and kills the Star Luo Imperial Family and Zhu Family 68 70.
