Arc 1Shrek’s Reckoning

Mu En and Shrek’s leaders used Su Xian’s knowledge of the future to confront the academy’s failures and begin reforms, while keeping their identities and his arrival secret. The arc ends with Shrek facing a financial blockade and Su Xian proposing financial leverage and national debt as a way through it.

  • Mu En kept Su Xian’s arrival and book secret, disguised the Sea God Pavilion Elders as villagers, and had them question him about Shrek’s future.
  • Su Xian’s warnings about Xuan Zi’s reckless decisions led Mu En to send Yan Shaozhe against the Death Messengers and increase support for Soul Tool research.
  • Su Xian criticized Shrek’s leaders and predicted that two God-Slaying Fixed Soul Cannon Shells would destroy Shrek City, prompting Mu En to begin a purge of obstructive teachers.
  • Mu En appointed Zhang Lexuan to remove idle and anti-reform instructors, then recorded Su Xian’s proposals for exploration, industrial production, and arming ordinary people.
  • Mu En and the elders built a false Niulai Village and assigned Shrek disciples to act as villagers so Su Xian would teach them without learning who they were.
  • Su Xian showed the disguised group the scale of the universe and urged the children to study science, while repeatedly criticizing Shrek’s resistance to industrial progress.
  • Su Xian’s jokes and warnings about Shrek’s casualties and eventual destruction shook Xuan Zi and Mu En, while he argued that Soul Tools and industrialization could strengthen the academy.
  • Qian Duoduo told Su Xian that merchants had cut off Shrek’s funds and rare metals, and Su Xian proposed using financial leverage and national debt to break the blockade.
