Effects and Limitations
Adaptive Soul Ring
The item grants a Soul Ring suited to its absorber, without requiring a Soul Beast hunt 11 12.
- No attribute restriction: Compatible with any absorber and adapts to the user 1 5.
- Variable age: The resulting ring’s age equals the greatest limit the absorber can withstand, rather than a fixed age assigned to the item 1 5.
- Reported upper limit: Chen Xin states that it can reach one million years. This is an explanation of its potential, not a demonstrated absorption result 11.
Dependence on Physical Resilience
- Shen Yan plans to strengthen his body with immortal herbs so that he can withstand an older God-bestowed Soul Ring 9 14.
- His initial goal is a ten-thousand-year first ring; he considers a hundred-thousand-year first ring essentially impossible at that point 9.
- Even after extensive herb treatment and a medicinal bath, he remains uncertain whether he can withstand a ten-thousand-year ring 18.
Reproduction and Value
Shen Yan records the sphere in his Conversion Table through Equivalent Exchange. Once recorded, it can be purchased repeatedly, provided he has enough EMC 1 2.
| Measure | Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Conversion Table value | 100,000 EMC | Recording the item unlocks subsequent purchases at this price 1 19. |
| Currency exchange rate | 64 Gold Soul Coins per EMC | Obtained by selling coins into the Conversion Table 2. |
| Coin-equivalent reproduction cost | 6.4 million Gold Soul Coins | Shen Yan calculates this before arranging the auction 2. |
| First auction sale | 100 million Gold Soul Coins and three Soul Bones | Purchased by Qian Daoliu 7. |
| EMC obtained from the payment | 1,906,250 EMC | Enough to purchase nineteen additional God-bestowed Soul Rings 9. |
The three Soul Bones included in the winning payment are 9:
- 30,000-Year Ghost Tiger Left Leg Bone
- 40,000-Year Cave Demon Spider Right Leg Bone
- 50,000-Year Vajra Bear Torso Bone
History
Discovery and Auction Announcement
The God-bestowed Soul Ring is the first monthly item supplied by the Nine Dragon Tower after Shen Yan becomes its master. He immediately records it in the Conversion Table, then purchases a sphere back out, exhausting his initial EMC balance 1 2.
To obtain funds for further exchanges, Shen Yan makes it the sole lot of the tower’s inaugural auction. Tower Tokens advertise that it grants a Soul Ring at the user’s limit and announce the sale for the following day 2.
The announcement attracts several competing interests. Qian Daoliu mobilizes the Worship Hall’s assets because he believes the ring will greatly improve Qian Renxue’s chances in the future Angel God Trial. Dugu Bo turns back toward Heaven Dou City to seek it for Dugu Yan, abandoning his journey with Tang San and bringing herbs from his medicinal garden 3 4.
Inaugural Auction
Shen Yan displays the sphere inside the Nine Dragon Tower, where its divine aura convinces the strongest attendees of its authenticity 5.
| Bidder | Documented bid | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Prince Xue Xing | 1 million Gold Soul Coins | Opens the bidding 5. |
| Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect representative | 5 million Gold Soul Coins | Shen Yan suspects the bidder is Yu Yuanzhen 5 6. |
| Xue Ye | 10 million Gold Soul Coins | Later withdraws after the price reaches 50 million 6. |
| Ning Fengzhi | Ultimately 100 million Gold Soul Coins | Stops after Qian Daoliu adds three Soul Bones 7. |
| Qian Daoliu | 100 million Gold Soul Coins and three Soul Bones | Wins and completes the exchange 7. |
Ning Fengzhi initially entertains the possibility that the ring could help Ning Rongrong overcome her martial soul’s level-79 limit. Afterward, he explains that his bidding was intended to drain Spirit Hall’s finances, rather than secure the item 5 7 8.
The sale gives Shen Yan his first major EMC windfall. For the Worship Hall, the purchase consumes over half its reserves, limiting the resources available for the next auction 9 20.
Dispute Within Spirit Hall
Bibi Dong confronts Qian Daoliu and demands the ring, arguing that an item purchased with Spirit Hall’s resources should be allocated to whoever needs it most. Qian Daoliu refuses to relinquish it and maintains that it belongs to Xue’er 13 16.
Despite the earlier chapter title describing Bibi Dong as seizing the ring, the subsequent account leaves Qian Daoliu’s plan intact: he intends Qian Renxue to absorb it when she begins her inheritance 16 20.
