After leaving Bo Saixi to manage Sea God Island, Gu Shengge traveled to Spirit City to meet Bibi Dong, the young Saintess of Spirit Hall. They met by chance—or so Bibi Dong thought—and went to dinner together, where their conversation left her increasingly drawn to him.
Gu Shengge spent the day telling Bibi Dong about his travels, and she eagerly arranged to meet him again the next day. After she left, he resolved to protect her from the tragedies that awaited her.
Qian Xunji investigated Gu Shengge and invited him to join Spirit Hall, while Bibi Dong eagerly persuaded him to stay in Spirit City. After Gu Shengge agreed to awaken his martial soul, the awakening array triggered a vast transformation in his sea of consciousness.
Gu Shengge awakened three Martial Souls: a Five-clawed Golden Dragon and two blades with powers over cause and effect and reincarnation. After his innate soul power measured at rank thirty, Qian Xunji named him Spirit Hall’s Divine Son, while Gu Shengge concealed his true strength and resolved to experience mortal life.
Qian Daoliu accepted Gu Shengge as his disciple and granted him the honored status of Spirit Hall’s Divine Son. Seeing Gu Shengge and Bibi Dong grow close, Qian Xunji proposed arranging their wedding after they came of age, leaving them to answer.
Qian Xunji arranged for Gu Shengge and Bibi Dong to marry after her Coming-of-Age Ceremony, then asked to become their future child’s adoptive father. Qian Daoliu beat Qian Xunji for the outrageous request, and afterward took Gu Shengge to obtain Soul Rings in the Star Dou Great Forest, with Bibi Dong asking to come along.
Gu Shengge took Bibi Dong to the Star Dou Great Forest with Qian Daoliu, who boasted that no beast there could challenge him. Gu Shengge released Xue'er to frighten Qian Daoliu and declare the forest’s core forbidden to humans.
The Snow Empress took Gu Shengge to the depths of Star Dou Great Forest after promising to help him obtain soul rings and a divine inheritance. There, Gu Shengge reunited with Aunt Aya and introduced her to Xue'er, whose cultivation shocked Aya.
Gu Shengge returned to Aunt Aya after reaching over a million years of cultivation, while Aya struggled with her growing feelings for him. Three days later, he returned to Spirit City, where Bibi Dong and Qian Daoliu learned that his misfortune had brought him powerful rewards and four ten-thousand-year soul rings.
Gu Shengge explained the Snow Empress’s mark and gave Qian Daoliu two immortal pills intended to transform Bibi Dong. Bibi Dong took them and entered a cocoon as her Death Spider Emperor began evolving, while Qian Daoliu rushed Gu Shengge away from the spreading black mist.
After taking two immortal pills, Bibi Dong reached Level 40 and evolved her Death Spider Emperor into the Death Empress Spider, which no longer transformed her into a monster. She demonstrated its two forms to Gu Shengge, then, alone with him, bashfully asked him to kneel and sit back on his heels.
Bibi Dong used her second Martial Soul form to tease Gu Shengge, who resisted taking their intimacy further. She then revealed the form’s true Half-Beast Mode and its powerful physical enhancements.
Gu Shengge praised Bibi Dong’s transformed Death Empress Spider form for its combat power, prompting her to kick him before she absorbed another Immortal Pill. He then consumed a pill refined from nine-grade purple ganoderma, which dramatically enhanced his Martial Soul, soul power, and physical body.
After absorbing the Nine-Grade Purple Ganoderma, Gu Shengge reflected on his martial soul’s evolution and reunited with Bibi Dong. Bibi Dong revealed that her second martial soul had evolved into the Devouring Goddess Spider, then teased Gu Shengge about its two modes.
After returning to Spirit City, Bibi Dong moved Gu Shengge into her residence and continued trying to grow closer to him. Qian Daoliu began teaching them combat skills, but Gu Shengge overwhelmed him with unfamiliar close-combat techniques, leaving Qian Daoliu with little to teach.
Years after becoming Spirit Hall’s renowned Divine Son and Saintess, Gu Shengge and Bibi Dong encountered Yu Xiaogang as he arrived in Spirit City hoping to use Bibi Dong to access Spirit Hall’s library. Gu Shengge led Bibi Dong directly to him, leaving Yu Xiaogang face-to-face with a Saintess who had become far more dangerous and calculating than he expected.
Yu Xiaogang approached Gu Shengge and Bibi Dong, but Gu Shengge mocked his martial soul and stalled cultivation. Meanwhile, Wang Xiao awakened the Emperor Armor and unleashed a vast pillar of light that drew the attention of powerful figures, including Qian Daoliu.
Yu Xiaogang returned to Gu Shengge and Bibi Dong, determined to endure humiliation while plotting to win Bibi Dong over and use her to reach Spirit Hall’s library. Gu Shengge exposed that he knew Yu Xiaogang’s intentions and claimed the library’s books had been removed, but Yu Xiaogang still directly asked to be taken there to research his Martial Soul defect.
