Background and History

Transmigration and childhood

Link transmigrated to the Douluo Continent as an infant, retaining his previous-life memories. Soldiers massacred his border village to claim its inhabitants as military achievements. Although he did not see the killings, he heard them from his swaddling clothes. A village chief subsequently found and rescued him 53.

He entered Nuoding City Junior Soul Master Academy at the same time as Xiao Wu and spent four years there with her. His refusal to flatter her after she became “Sister Xiao Wu” made him a target among the work-study students, including Wang Sheng 1.

Awakening the Chat Group

Ten years after his transmigration, Link discovered the Chat Group System’s functions. He approached Xiao Wu, exposed his knowledge of her soul-beast identity, and offered the possibility of resurrecting her mother. Her acceptance of the entry contract gave him his first talent- and cultivation-sharing rewards 1 2.

Concerned that Tang San or Tang Hao might kill him over his closeness to Xiao Wu, he left Nuoding City for Heaven Dou City. On the journey, he acquired the Great Dream Heart Sutra and subsequently recruited Qian Renxue through her dream 3 4 6.

Heaven Dou and recruitment journeys

Qian Renxue placed Link at Heaven Dou Royal Academy and assigned A Luo to care for him. Link initially maintained a false identity as a mute amnesiac, later admitting that he could speak while continuing to claim memory loss 8 9 20.

He expanded the Chat Group, located Ah Yin after nearly a month of searching, and visited Star Luo City and Spirit City. Recruiting Bibi Dong was particularly dangerous because of her spiritual strength; he delayed her awakening with a dream suggestion while he escaped 10 12 15 16 17 18.

After returning to Heaven Dou, he sought Qian Renxue’s help to obtain immortal herbs from Dugu Bo’s garden. Body tempering at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and subsequent soul-beast hunts in Sunset Forest established his overwhelming physical strength and four-ring foundation 20 22 26 28.

Nuoding confrontation and Shrek Academy

Returning with Ning Rongrong, Link restrained Tang San, destroyed Luo Sanpao, and defeated Liu Erlong after she attacked in her Martial Soul Avatar. Tang Yuehua then exposed his identity as the Group Leader 30 31 34.

Tang Hao ambushed him while Tang Yuehua used her domain to weaken his fighting spirit. Xiao Wu intervened with Invincible Golden Body, allowing Link to counterattack. He expelled Tang Yuehua, defeated Tang Hao’s Great Sumeru Hammer, and severed his left arm with Sky-Splitting Slash 36 37.

Link spared Tang San and left with Xiao Wu and Ning Rongrong. In Suotuo City, he challenged Shrek Academy’s registration-fee practices and beat Zhao Wuji into surrender 38 39 44.

Conflict with the Heaven Dou imperial family

Link killed Xue Beng despite Meng Shenji’s intervention. When Xue Ye retaliated against him and threatened his associates, Link refused to flee, explaining that he held the empire’s ruling class responsible for the massacre that orphaned him 50 53.

He slaughtered the attacking Soul Masters accompanying Prince Xue Xing, then demanded that Xue Ye abdicate. Prince Xue Xing agreed to convey his demands and send palace treasures 53 54.

Continental travel and the Soul Beast Clan

Link organized a continental journey with his companions and later helped arrange the confrontation that led to Xiao Wu’s mother’s resurrection. He had also hoped she would qualify for the Chat Group, but the system did not recognize her as a potential member 62 68 69 70.

During the Star Dou Great Forest journey, he captured the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger, took it to the North Pole, and seized its Black Pearl. The system used the pearl to open a passage to the Heavenly Jewel World 71 73.

At the Lake of Life, he could not locate the separate dimension containing the Silver Dragon King and Di Tian. Later, Zi Ji approached him on the Silver Dragon King’s behalf. Link refused an undefined request to help the Soul Beast Clan and instead requested clear terms, compensation, and a face-to-face meeting with its ruler 74 88.

Appearance

• Child’s body: At ten, before absorbing his first ring, he still developed at an ordinary child’s pace despite his adult memories 3.

Personality

Link is fiercely independent and resents being expected to submit to others. He refuses to flatter Xiao Wu, deliberately leaves Nuoding despite having almost no resources, and pursues strength so that he will not have to hide from powerful enemies 1 3 53.

His recruitment tactics are calculating. He uses Xiao Wu’s fear and longing for her mother, Ah Yin’s doubts about her family, and other candidates’ personal problems to secure their contracts. He also pressures members to cultivate because their improvements strengthen him 1 15 27 70.

He enjoys provocation and other people’s dramatic confrontations, but his cruelty is not without boundaries. He refuses to exploit Liu Erlong’s vulnerable dream sexually, treats A Luo politely without regarding her as inherently beneath him, and feels unable to kill an unoffending hundred-thousand-year soul beast merely for power 12 28 71.

His mercy is selective. After briefly regretting the deaths of Prince Xue Xing’s followers, he decides that leaving supernatural enemies alive could endanger him. He is equally uncompromising about betrayal and believes that giving enemies room to recover simply invites future retaliation 54 82.

Chat Group System

Link gains rewards through daily sign-ins and the recruitment of system-recognized candidates 1 2.
