Hearing Kujou Oto mention it, Seele felt a little awkward.
"This is Grandpa River God's temple."
Having arrived at their destination, the three stopped, and Kujou Oto spoke to Seele.
"So this is the River God's temple?"
Seele looked at the unexpectedly tiny temple before her. It was not the ordinary temple covering dozens of square meters that she had imagined, but a building with a floor area of less than five square meters.
It was utterly impossible for anyone to live here. There was only a tiny shrine-like hut, containing a blurry divine statue whose appearance could no longer be made out.
Everything inside the temple could be seen at a glance. Apart from the statue, there were only a few small offerings and ritual vessels.
Kujou Oto took out the oranges and several rice balls she had prepared before coming and placed them beneath the divine statue. Only then did she cautiously ask, "Grandpa River God, are you home? Oto came to see you!"
However... even after calling out several times, there was no response.
"I came looking for Grandpa River God before too, but he wasn't here either. I don't know where he went."
Seeing there was no reaction, Kazuko stood beside Kujou Oto and spoke without much enthusiasm.
"But... where would Grandpa River God go?"
Kujou Oto stopped calling out and looked at the divine statue before her in confusion.
"I don't know. Maybe he has something to do?"
Kazuko shook her head. After Kujou Oto's grandmother passed away, she had no one here to talk to and was terribly bored.
