After leaving the forest and asking around, Yae Sakura finally arrived at Kikyo's hometown, Kaede Village.
Perhaps because Yae Sakura was dressed as a Miko, and her ears were hidden beneath her cloak, the villagers of Kaede Village treated her with great respect.
Or rather, they respected her identity as a Miko.
After Yae Sakura explained why she had come and said she wanted to see the Miko Kikyo, the villagers had a boy lead her to where Kikyo lived.
Yae Sakura immediately spotted Kikyo ahead, teaching a little girl archery.
"Kikyo!"
Seeing Kikyo, Yae Sakura quickly called out to her.
Kikyo, who had been teaching the little girl, turned to look at Yae Sakura at the same time as the girl.
"You are... Yae Sakura?"
"That's right!"
Yae Sakura removed her cloak, revealing her fox ears, then walked over.
"Fluffy long ears!!"
The little girl beside Kikyo froze when she saw the ears atop Yae Sakura's head, then cried out in surprise.
"They're fox ears!" Yae Sakura did not mind.
"What are you here for?" Kikyo looked at Yae Sakura in confusion.
"I have nowhere to go, so I decided to tag along with you! Kikyo-chan won't dislike me, will she?"
"Don't call me Kikyo-chan as if we're close. Weren't you escorting Lady Xia Ji?"
"I already sent her back!"
"Then why didn't you stay..." Kikyo had been about to ask why Yae Sakura had not stayed with Xia Ji, but then she suddenly remembered... Yae Sakura was a Half-Demon. She would certainly be rejected by those humans. It was only natural that she had not stayed.
"Do you have nowhere to go?"
Kikyo thought for a moment... then looked calmly at Yae Sakura.
"No." Yae Sakura shook her head honestly.
"Then stay here for the time being. But... you cannot harm the villagers, and you must follow my instructions. Can you do that?" Thinking of what Yae Sakura had said about her experiences, Kikyo realized that now that she had become a Half-Demon, she seemed unwelcome among both humans and demons.
If she stayed in Kaede Village, the villagers probably would not say anything with Kikyo here.
