The battle continued like this for three minutes. Unable to break through despite his relentless attacks, the thin, small man in black seemed to grow a little impatient.
What the thin man in black failed to notice was that Blue Silver Emperor had already grown all over the arena.
"Second Soul Skill, Shark Slash."
Jiang Che abruptly shot backward, and the Blue Silver Emperor throughout the arena began to sway in a regular pattern.
The next instant, several Blue Silver Vines sprang up, completely enveloping the thin man in black.
The thin man in black looked stunned.
Three breaths later, the Blue Silver Vines dispersed, and chunks of mangled flesh fell from within.
[Ding-!] [Killed a level 25 Soul Grandmaster. Gained 5 skill points.] [Current skill points: 349]
The spectators outside the arena looked astonished.
The owner of the dueling grounds looked at Jiang Che and nodded slightly. "Blue Silver Grass martial soul, a self-created soul skill. Not bad."
With that, he slowly turned and left.
The next day, Jiang Che sat cross-legged in the courtyard, cultivating.
Over seven days, the Blue Silver Grass in the courtyard had grown lush.
In Jiang Che's consciousness, specks of light from the Blue Silver Grass gradually appeared around him.
He sensed streams of consciousness from the Blue Silver Grass-the joy of lonely souls worshipping their emperor.
Jiang Che slowly opened his eyes and took stock of last night's cultivation results. Cultivating in the blue silver mimicry environment had increased his speed by nearly a quarter.
"I'm starving."
With that, Jiang Che went out to eat.
"Boss, one grilled fish."
"Coming right up!"
While waiting for his grilled fish, Jiang Che suddenly noticed the figure holding a newspaper.
Jiang Che frowned slightly. What normal person reads the same newspaper for half a month? It's practically developed a patina.
Jiang Che glanced to the side again. Just as he expected, someone was buying vegetables there.
Seeing those two, Jiang Che knew Qianqian was nearby.
Sure enough, a petite figure appeared in Jiang Che's view.
"Big Brother Jiang Che!"
Qianqian spotted Jiang Che and hurriedly stopped to greet him.
"How's it going? How's business lately?"
Qianqian lowered her head in embarrassment, looking a little vexed. "Aside from you, I haven't had any other business."
"Watch out, young man. Your grilled fish is here!" The owner approached with two large platters of grilled fish.
"Hello, Miss Li." When the owner saw Qianqian, his tone became extremely respectful.
"This grilled fish shop belongs to your family too?" Jiang Che asked.
Qianqian stared fixedly at the two large platters of grilled fish. "Yes. Not just this shop. This street, and that one, and that one-they all belong to us."
Jiang Che's mouth twitched. From Qianqian, he learned that nearly half of Vast Sea City belonged to the Li Family.
Why the hell is it even called Vast Sea City? Might as well call it Li Family City.
Seeing the drool trickling from the corner of Qianqian's mouth, Jiang Che smiled slightly. "Sit down and eat with me."
Qianqian dispensed with formalities, sitting down across from Jiang Che and digging in.
The middle-aged man holding the newspaper wanted to step in and stop her, but the man buying vegetables held him back.
"What are you doing? The young miss is actually eating with a strange man! If the family head finds out, we're both finished."
"Have you forgotten what the family head said yesterday?"
The middle-aged man holding the newspaper snorted at that and said nothing.
"I see you out here gaining experience every day. Do you usually cultivate?" Jiang Che asked in puzzlement.
Qianqian's mouth was stuffed with fish, and her words came out muffled. "No, it's only during the morning that I come out. I spend the rest of my time cultivating at home."
Over this period, Jiang Che had learned quite a lot about Vast Sea City and the surrounding waters from the guileless Qianqian.
Near Vast Sea City lay a stretch of sea called the Calm Sea Plain. Its waters were fifty meters deep, yet it was home to large numbers of sea soul beasts.
A plant soul beast called Razor Kelp grew there, and this type of plant soul beast was among Jiang Che's candidates for his second soul ring.
After finishing his meal, Jiang Che exchanged a few more words with Qianqian, then headed to the Tianyun Mountain Range to earn skill points.
[Ding-!] [Killed a 244-year Flame Snake. Gained 5 skill points.] [Killed a 99-year Black Sunflower. Gained 1 skill point.] [Killed a 321-year Ice-Armored Crocodile. Gained 5 skill points.]
[Current skill points: 751.] [Today's Shop.] [Heart of Africa: (Price: 13,000,000 skill points)] [Random hundred-thousand-year Soul Bone: (Price: 6,000 skill points)] [Fiji Cup: (Price: 100 skill points)] [Sky-Piercing Halberd: (Price: 1,000 skill points)]
Jiang Che's gaze settled on the Heart of Africa, priced at thirteen million. He opened its details page for a look.
There must be a reason it's so expensive.
[Heart of Africa: (Price: 13,000,000 skill points), description: utterly unremarkable. Can be kept as a collectible!]
Jiang Che's face nearly turned black.
"Fuck! When you refresh the skill-point items, give me something good!"
"Am I supposed to redeem a Fiji Cup to play with?!"
The setting sun had already stained the western sky blood-red.
Jiang Che narrowed his eyes toward a distant village. A thick smell of blood drifted into his nostrils on the breeze.
Without hesitation, Jiang Che took a detour.
For the smell of blood to be this strong, the entire village had most likely met with disaster.
Jiang Che had no desire to wade into muddy waters.
But just then, an enormous wolf bandit appeared before Jiang Che, carrying a corpse in one hand.
"Fuck! Is my luck really this bad?"
"Flight!"
Without another word, Jiang Che used the Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Skill and fled through the air.
But a figure shot toward Jiang Che like an arrow from the nearby village.
"Fuck!" Jiang Che hurriedly dodged right.
He saw it clearly-a two-meter-tall wolf bandit.
Only, this wolf bandit had a pair of batlike wings growing from its back.
Jiang Che frowned slightly. He had never heard of wolf bandits that could fly.
The situation left Jiang Che no time to ponder.
The flight skill consumed enormous amounts of soul power. Escaping in these circumstances would be very difficult.
Jiang Che simply deactivated his flight skill and landed in the village.
Inside the village, the smell of blood was almost tangible.
Over a dozen mangled corpses lay scattered across the clearing in the center of the village.
An old man lay faceup, his chest completely split open, his organs strewn around him like toys discarded by a naughty child.
Not far away, several children had been severed at the waist. Their faces still held expressions of weeping, but their lower bodies had vanished without a trace.
Most striking of all was the iron cage in the middle of the clearing.
More than a dozen women were penned inside like livestock. Two were already dead, their eyes still open in death.
A wolf bandit was violating one of the women.
Boom!
The winged wolf bandit crashed down from the sky.
Jiang Che quickly assessed his surroundings. There were not many wolf bandits-only four.
The one with wings growing from its back was probably their leader.
The wolf bandit split its mouth open, revealing an almost human expression. Its speed suddenly surged, and Jiang Che saw only a gray blur flash past.
"So fast!"
Jiang Che hurriedly circulated the true qi within his body to shield his chest.
Even so, a tremendous force blasted Jiang Che back step after step.
