"What changed in me?"

Standing outside Hydra's ruins, Xia Zuo frowned slightly as he considered the changes in himself. During that long howl just now, he had felt as though he had broken free of some kind of shackle, but he still did not understand it very well.

"I'll leave here first, then study the changes in myself." Xia Zuo raised his head and looked at the Hydra Base, reduced to rubble by the explosion. Without hesitation, he turned and slowly left.

With such a massive explosion here, S.H.I.E.L.D. had probably already detected it, given its capabilities, and should now be on its way. Xia Zuo had no intention of dealing with S.H.I.E.L.D. again right now. Although he already commanded some power, he also had plenty of weaknesses, so he would not foolishly wait here for S.H.I.E.L.D. to arrive.

Casually taking control of a passing car, Xia Zuo disappeared from the area. A little while later, an advanced aircraft slowly landed there. A man wearing sunglasses pushed a man in a wheelchair as they slowly descended from the aircraft. They were Professor X, who had come out to search, and one of his trusted students, Cyclops, Scott Summers.

"Professor, is this the place you mentioned just now? It doesn't look like anyone lives here."

Cyclops spoke in bewilderment. The place was nothing but ruins, and fierce flames were rising from them. Could the fellow mutant the professor had mentioned be trapped inside? That should not be the case.

"We're too late. He must have left, and his presence has disappeared too. He should be some distance away by now," Professor X, Charles Xavier, said with a frown. He could sense his surroundings, but if the distance was too great, there was nothing he could do.

Thud, thud, thud!

At that moment, an elite armed squad arrived. Without a word, they surrounded Professor X and Cyclops, each gripping their weapon tightly and watching the two in full combat readiness. It was S.H.I.E.L.D., finally arriving on the scene!

"Professor, our boss would like to speak with you."

Looking poised and capable, Natasha strode up to Professor X and took out a communicator. Nick Fury was on the other end.

"You're from S.H.I.E.L.D.!"

Professor X glanced at Natasha. He knew of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s existence. After all, there were not many things in this world that could be hidden from him. However, S.H.I.E.L.D. represented the authorities in certain respects, and Professor X had no intention of making an enemy of it, so he accepted the communicator from Natasha.

"This is Charles Francis Xavier," Professor X said into the communicator.

"Hello, Professor. This is Nick Fury. May I ask why you've come here this time? This is our jurisdiction." Nick Fury's voice came through the communicator as he questioned Professor X directly.

In fact, according to the original plan, Nick Fury had been coming with the team as well. But when he discovered just now that Professor X had also appeared here, Nick Fury immediately distanced himself from the area.

He had no choice. The power of mind control was far too terrifying, and his head held many secrets. He had no wish to let Professor X peer into them!

After all, he had already suffered at Xia Zuo's hands not long ago when it came to being controlled. He had no wish to repeat that mistake.

"I only came to pick up one of my kind. That does not conflict with your operation in any way," Professor X said slowly, stating his purpose.

"One of your kind? Could it be..."

Nick Fury sounded slightly hesitant. In truth, S.H.I.E.L.D. did not know what had happened here either, only that a massive explosion had just occurred. But Professor X's words reminded him of someone. After all, in his eyes, only one mutant had been active recently: Xia Zuo. And connected to Xia Zuo was Hydra...

Having risen to the position of Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury possessed considerable intelligence. He immediately made some connections and even deduced a little of what had happened here.

"Do you happen to know something?" Professor X asked. He could hear the odd note in Nick Fury's words.

"Sorry, Professor, I have nothing to tell you. But please leave that area. Our people need to work. Please don't provoke a conflict between humans and mutants!"

Nick Fury spoke coldly, refusing him outright and even ordering Professor X away, with a slight threat thrown in. However, he was not afraid that Professor X would act. After all, Professor X had always advocated peace, and Nick Fury was quite confident of that.

Hearing Nick Fury's words, Cyclops felt a surge of displeasure. He was just about to teach the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents a lesson when Professor X stopped him.

"Young lady, thank you for letting me use your communicator." Professor X gave Natasha a faint smile and handed the communicator straight back to her. Then he said to Cyclops, "Let's go, Cyclops."

Cyclops slowly pushed the professor's wheelchair away, and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents did not dare obstruct them in the slightest. Although Nick Fury had sounded very forceful, in truth, he did not dare offend Professor X too deeply either, because Professor X's very existence was enough to intimidate everyone.

"All right, seal off those ruins immediately and begin the investigation!"

Only after watching Professor X leave did Natasha collect herself and issue orders to everyone. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s work began once again.

Aboard the supersonic aircraft, Cyclops finally could not hold back his question. "Professor, they've gone too far. And now how are we supposed to find that fellow mutant?"

In Cyclops's view, the overbearing Nick Fury really had gone a little too far. In fact, Cyclops understood the professor's thinking and knew he did not want to provoke a conflict. But now, how were they supposed to find that fellow mutant?

"Peace is important. As for that fellow mutant of ours, I already have some information."

Professor X spoke slowly. When Nick Fury had acted strangely, Professor X had directly used his power to look through some of Natasha's memories, so he understood a little of what had happened.

He had controlled an entire Hydra force alone, killed decisively, and slaughtered hundreds without hesitation. At such a young age, his hands were already drenched in blood!

Just thinking about it gave Professor X a headache, and he could not help sighing. "Cyclops, this newly emerged fellow mutant of ours is no ordinary person!"

"What do you mean, no ordinary person?" Cyclops asked in confusion.

"He's a little... a little frightening!"
