"The Ultimate Body actually has an ability like this? Does this count as a free gift from the Ultimate Eye?"
Xia Zuo smiled in surprise. He had thought his cheat was the Ultimate Eye, never expecting to gain something like this as well. It caught him somewhat off guard, but he certainly would not reject it. After all, it offered him every benefit and no harm.
On the other hand, Xia Zuo felt that his body was somewhat similar to the ability of a mutant code-named "Darwin." He could even be called a special version of Darwin.
Darwin could adapt to all kinds of environments, whereas he could adapt to the side effects brought on by all kinds of Dōjutsu. It was like another version of Darwin's constitution, one that existed specifically for the Ultimate Eye.
Although this Ultimate Body could not let him survive in every environment the way Darwin could, its actual usefulness was by no means insignificant.
Take his current magical power, for example. To allow him to use the Magic Eyes, his body had become capable of adapting to magic. For that very reason, Xia Zuo's body could hold an enormous amount of magical power, which was also why his reserves were so abundant.
The benefits this brought Xia Zuo were tremendous. Just think of the power of the spell he had casually blasted out earlier-other people simply could not do that. With the Ultimate Body at work, Xia Zuo did not need to worry about exhausting his magical power at all, nor did he need to worry about the side effects of making it circulate too frequently, because the Ultimate Body existed precisely to prevent those side effects.
"No wonder I used the Geass Eye's ability so many times before without any aftereffects. That was probably because of the Ultimate Body too."
Xia Zuo murmured with a soft chuckle. Thinking back now, he had used the Geass Eye frequently during his battle with Hydra, yet he had suffered no aftereffects. That was probably the Ultimate Body at work as well.
"In that case, I won't need to worry about any future complications. I can go all out activating all kinds of Dōjutsu. For me, this is actually the best possible constitution."
Xia Zuo was a little excited. This meant he would have no lingering worries and could devote himself fully to this matter. It was the best news he had heard in a while, and it made him even happier than defeating Kamar-Taj's sorcerers had.
At that thought, Xia Zuo grew very excited and devoted all his attention to studying this Ultimate Body. He even temporarily forgot his usual practice of going to the magic library on time to study magical knowledge.
Just as Xia Zuo was studying whether the Ultimate Body had any other hidden abilities, a loud bell suddenly rang out, its sound spreading throughout Kamar-Taj.
"Summoning everyone? What happened?"
Slightly surprised, Xia Zuo looked out the window. Having lived in Kamar-Taj for so long, he knew what that sound meant. Something major had happened, and even he, nominally a guest, had to attend.
Although he did not know what had happened, Xia Zuo followed everyone else to the hall at the very center of Kamar-Taj.
"I have something to announce."
The Ancient One stood in the hall with an icy expression and spoke slowly. This was the first time Xia Zuo had seen her angry. It seemed something major had happened.
"Last night, the library was broken into, the librarian was killed, and an important scripture was stolen!"
Everyone was shocked when the Ancient One announced this. Someone had actually committed such a grave crime in Kamar-Taj. No wonder the Sorcerer Supreme was so furious!
"Our investigation has identified Kaecilius as the person responsible. Spread my decree: anyone who captures Kaecilius may become my disciple!"
Determining who had committed such a crime was not difficult at all for the Sorcerer Supreme, and she had quickly found the true culprit. Kaecilius knew this as well, so he had fled Kamar-Taj immediately after succeeding. That was what had led to this scene.
The Sorcerer Supreme was truly furious. She was determined to punish Kaecilius severely, and she had not hesitated to issue such a decree.
For a time, Kamar-Taj's sorcerers all sprang into action, each using their abilities to begin pursuing Kaecilius!
Inside the hall, Xia Zuo's expression was grim as well. He had spent all his time in the library over the past year, and because of that, he had gotten along fairly well with the librarian.
Thinking back to his first visit to the library, it had been the librarian who introduced him to various magic books suited to his studies. That was how he had set out on the path of magic. Now, however, the librarian had been killed by Kaecilius. There was no way Xia Zuo could be in a good mood, and he wanted to avenge the librarian.
With that thought, Xia Zuo went straight up to the Ancient One.
"Ancient One, I want to join this search and find Kaecilius," Xia Zuo said, looking at her.
"You don't need to take part in this conflict." The Ancient One looked at Xia Zuo and fell silent, only speaking after a long while.
Xia Zuo was not one of Kamar-Taj's people, so he could have stayed out of this conflict. That left her somewhat unable to understand why he wanted to get involved.
But the Ancient One did not know that Xia Zuo was truly angry. Kaecilius's actions had enraged him, and now someone needed to step forward so he could vent that anger. Without a doubt, that person was Kaecilius.
"I'm going. I'm only letting you know what I'll be doing next."
Xia Zuo looked the Ancient One straight in the eye without backing down in the slightest. He was not one of Kamar-Taj's people, and the Ancient One had no right to stop him. He had only come to tell her out of respect.
Simply put, Xia Zuo meant that even the Ancient One could not stop him from doing what he wanted to do.
"Go."
The Ancient One looked at Xia Zuo in silence. Only after a long while did she give a slight nod, then vanished from the hall.
